Anyone stay there? Its so much cheaper than some of the other ones on Harbor. $60 a night. Will I be sharing a bathroom with rats? I'm all for a good deal but I don't want a total dive here.

anyone?

Never stayed there personally, but have friends who love it there. They say it's nothing special, but clean and large size rooms. Perfect for the 10 or so hours you will spend in the room per night.

I personally like the HoJo because I can get it for even cheaper and it has a better pool area and lovely grounds.

We've stayed there a few times. The rooms are pretty big, you get a balcony or deck off of your room, the pool is large. They charge for parking, and there is no continental breakfast. However they have a restaurant on site and I believe kids get free breakfast. But don't quote me on that, as I've never actually eaten there.
Plus it only takes a few minutes to walk to the park. We used to stay at the Desert Inn or Del Sol, and find this much nicer.

We stayed there in June for 5 nights and it was great! The rooms are huge! We had two big beds and a roll away and still had a ton of room! There was a fridge and microwave as well.

The pool is huge and was clean and never felt crowded, even in the middle of the summer season. We had dinner one night at the hotel restaraunt and it was very good. I believe kids eat breakfast for free.

The walk to the park is only like 10 minutes.

You can't beat the price!

I stayed there in May and didn't care for it. Probably won't consider it for any other trips.

Yes the rooms are big and they were clean, but everything was very well worn. There's only so much cleaning you can do to a carpet that is almost worn through.

The walk wasn't too bad, but I prefer to stay closer to the entrance where the rooms are nicer and I get a free breakfast.

I have seen reports of bugs in the rooms, but didn't experience that myself.

I read they charge for parking! So I would need to add, what $11-$12 to the cost? Glad to know that, that may be a deal breaker for me. Is it just past Denny's?

thanks

I believe it was around $6 to park. It is a few doors down from Denny's, at the intersection where the street flows into the DL parking lot (Disney Way?).

Our family was just there last week, we thought it was not too shabby. I paid 46$ a night from Travelworm, and it was 4$ a day to park, so even with the parking it was cheaper than most of the other places on Harbor. The pool was nice and big and only had one other family in it. Although it could use a little work on the bottom as there were places it was quite bumpy.

We were on the second floor, in the front building. The room was big, we had 2 queen beds and a nice balcony. It was clean, I agree it could use some updating. DH and I joked about the late 70s early 80s decor. The fridge was big and the microwave worked fine. We didn't use the restaurant.
It took us 3 minutes to walk from the hotel to the crosswalk where all the other hotels cross, and that was with our 4 year old walking.

We would stay there again for sure.

We go monthly, and this is one of our favorite hotels.

1. $2 to park. We pay $4 because we get the family suite (2 rooms). Parking is included THROUGH CHECKOUT DAY. Most Harbor Blvd hotels tell you that you must move your car by noon or 3 pm.

2. Request the "700" wing. It just reopened last week from a full refurb. The rooms across the hall from us were still being painted, and it passed my "sock test". Almost no hotels at all pass the sock test. (You know, wear your socks in the room and see if they get dirty.)

3. Rooms are big enough for a single Aerobed. We travel with 8 people, but the gender/age thing is such that we need an extra bed.

Have fun!

I was wondering can you post a link for me, there are two Anaheim Inn (one Anaheim Inn and Anaheim plaza),

Is this the one that is right between Disneyland way and Castle inn or the one by Tony Romas?:flower3:

PS I think the one your talking about is the one I have been watching and they just changed their site and added a new type of room, its a 2 queen but with granite counters, club chairs etc? is that the room you stayed in?

I am referring to the one by the Castle Inn Anaheim Plaza. The other one is the Best Western Anaheim Inn, which I have also stayed in and was nice. I actually booked the 2 Q with the granite counter tops and the chair based on the reply to my post actually. If it's NEWish I will give it a try. the kids want the Castle inn we'll see. Price may be the deal breaker on this trip.

thanks for the great reply. Nice to know they are updating the place.

it was one of the ones on our possible list (based on price & proximity).

Q#1 - when you say full rehab ; just wondering was the furniture replaced too?

def. agree with most places (even deluxes) not always passing the sock test:thumbsup2

Q #2 - It was mentioned here that they offer a balcony/patio...do you mean a "dedicated" balcony or are you considering the common walkway where you enter the room as one? From the pics on TA, didn't see any - if so, wonder what they overlook?

Each time we've stayed there we've been on the ground floor with a sliding glass door that opens to a small inclosed patio.

Try to answer all the questions here. Glad to be of help!!

1. MOST rooms have either a nice patio or deck with two chairs. Not all rooms have them (I think because each wing was built at a diff time :confused3 ) The 700 wing DOES NOT have the deck/patio.

2. This is the Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites between Disney Way and the Castle Inn. The way I understand it, it is right in front of the new Garden Walk they are building, which will make it waaaay more popular very soon!

3. I haven't looked at the website lately---we have Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan already booked (at the $60 rate!!!). The room we were in (710/712) did have all brand new furniture, including a club chair and granite counters in the bathroom. Nice white duvet, too.

4. Interesting note: The rooms we were in also had extra doors to connect to 708 and 714! I thought this was an awesome addition for those of us who travel in packs. We've often had 3 rooms but could only connect two of them.

5. Castle Inn was fine (in 2005). We were in a regular room, and there was a huge HS convention staying there. Didn't hear a thing, and they had security walking the parking lot after park hours. I thought they did a good job.

6. NOTE: The other good request if you have young kids is the 500 wing facing the theme parks. Good view of the fireworks from the deck. We checked in around 9:15 last week, and went out front with the desk manager to watch the fireworks. He said he takes his break every night from 9:25 to 9:47 to watch the fireworks!

Happy planning!

Just had to say...AWESOME PHOTO OF BILLY!!! If only you could see the prosteethis!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The room I booked did say it had the granite counter top. Is the room large enough for an air mattress on the floor for a kid? It seems nice....and cheap.

thanks

We put a twin air mattress at the foot of the bed, and were still able to walk around without stepping over her. Not a lot of room, but certainly manageable.
