Anaheim Plaza Hotel - is it ok?

We booked a room at the Anaheim Plaza hotel a few weeks back for our friends to stay in (we are staying in our motorhome at a local RV park). At the time we booked, all the hotels within easy walking distance were totally booked up, since we were looking to book for this coming weekend (spring break time, along with some convention apparently). The Anaheim Plaza seemed to have plenty of room while every other hotel was completely sold out. That didn't seem like a positive thing, but we were happy to have a room for them so close to the main entrance. Is this hotel pretty bad, or do they just have a bunch more rooms due to being a larger facility?

I don't think its bad. Its the only place we will stay when we go down to Disney and we have been staying there for the past 6-7 years. It is a bit farther then the ones right across the way, but it still is an easy walk. If you cross at the Disney Way, there isn't all that traffic that is near the other light.

Yes it is IMO ~ I'd stay there again if the price was right ~ under $60 and I couldn't find something "better" *the retro rate at Hojo :thumbsup2

I've found it to be just fine. Good for the price. It has nicely kept grounds. Lots of parking. A large gift shop. Arcade. Car rental desk. A large pool. Friendly and helpful staff. The worst part is the buildings are old, but the same can be said about every other property on Harbor.

We stayed there in August. I would not stay there again unless the room was REALLY cheap - like under $50. There were long black hairs in the bath towels, giant spiders in the bathroom and the beds were really uncomfortable.

IMO, it's an ok place to stay. It's definitely not a luxury hotel but I've never had any problems whilst staying there. The beds aren't the most comfortable, and the rooms could use a decor update, but the pool is HUGE and heated, the grounds are nicely landscaped, there's an abundance of parking, and the price is right :thumbsup2

I stayed there three times and after the last in 2008 we decided to never stay there again no matter what the price. The rooms are old and dingy and musty. Their customer service is horrible (in my opinion) and their housekeeping is even worse.

I am always in the minority on these boards about this place! I give my opinions based on my experiences!!

anahiem plaza is nice! they got either patio rooms or balcony rooms, large rooms to and the mini fridges are really big!!

We've stayed here before, and if we couldn't get the retro rate at HOJOs I would book here again. It is an older hotel, but we never had any problems. The rooms were large, IMO, compared to other properties that we've stayed at in the area. Large closets and bathrooms were a plus.

We never use housekeeping, so I can't comment on that, but the property seemed to be kept up well.

Others in our party visited the restaurant on-site, and said it was decent and affordable, and I think they have one of the largest gift shops on Harbor.

I don't know if it is still true, but I believe there was a $4 parking charge per day that they charge once you get there.

I know this thread is old, but I posted pictures there if you're interested.

I noticed on the website that they have "deluxe" rooms. Has anyone stayed in those rooms and is it worth the price difference. Maybe they are deluxe because they have been updated more?

We stayed here once, we would stay again. The hotel was close enough, the rooms was clean and huge, the beds were fine. The biggest complaint I had was the water temp varied when taking a shower, it was cold one minute, hot the next, warm the next..it was weird but it was tolerable....

I'm with you! We stayed once and I don't think we would stay there again. I agree with all of the above but I also didn't feel particularly safe in our room. We were on the first floor with a large patio, it wasn't inclosed. I felt like someone could just walk right up to our slider, which only had a little lock on it. I don't know, just gave me a creepy feeling.

And it's "far" for walking.

Unless we are staying on DVC points, we always stay at the Plaza. The hotel is old, and the furniture is outdated, but the price is right and the location is very convenient. We really don't spend much time in the rooms when we go to DLR, so we hate to spend over $100/night, just to get a few hotels closer to the gates. The Plaza does have some ungraded rooms, I have not stayed in those, but it would probably be a good option for those that are picky about their hotels. I think the Plaza Hotel is a great Disneyland on a budget secret. i also love that they have ramps to the second story, great when pushing a stroller!

It's the same distance as the HoJo, a bit closer iirc.......we didn't feel the walk was bad at all, it was very easy to do.
I didn't think any of the patios were open.....I know when we were there all the patios I could see from our room (we were on the 2nd floor) were enclosed. Of course I didn't walk the full property so I don't doubt you, we were pretty close to the parks in our building so maybe that was just our building.....:confused3

Having just spent 4 night's there and walked to the park 2 of the 4 days, It's not very far(about a 10 minute walk at a decent pace) which is actually closer than the parking garage is to the park. The rooms are pretty outdated but were comfortable and very big. I was on the second floor and the balcony was nice. The mini-fridge is a normal sized mini-fridge like you'd find in a college dorm and having a microwave was great and definitely saved me some money since I didn't eat all my meals in the park. The breakfast buffet was decent. I've had better but I've also had a lot worse. When you check in they give you 20% off coupons for the buffet for each day of your stay so that was kind of nice. Honestly, I would definitely stay there again instead of the motel 6 maingate I usually stay at because it saves me on gas even if there is a $4/night parking fee.
