We have reservations for next month at the Anaheim Plaza and will be bringing my mom who will be in a wheelchair. She walks okay, but not for a long distance and for that long during day of moving around the parks. DH and will take turns pushing the WC when she doesn't feel like walking behind it.

Is it reasonable to think we can walk to and from the parks from this hotel?

I know we can drive and park in Mickey & friends, but still you have to go from the lot to the tram then into the park. Seems more hassle than its worth.

If you're not a fast walker, how long should it take?

Thanks!

It is about a 10 minute walk. Very easy. Yes, you would be able to push a wheelchair from there. If you find that it is too hard I would have someone go drop her off then go back to the hotel and run over, rather than go park at the garage and walk (that will be more hassle than it's worth for where you are staying). The Anaheim Plaza is not my hotel of choice, but it is close and cheap.

Not my first choice either but since we will be there almost two weeks, we went low budget. Reviews are up and down. Some people love it, some hate it. We're not overly picky, just want a clean, close room.

I figured the walk would be easy, but just wanted to doublecheck. Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I don't remember elevators so if necessary you might want to request a first floor room- unless you have already requested a handicapped accessible room.

No elevators but they do have ramps, I've wheeled my suitcase up a time or two. :) They are on the "back" of the buildings though so I would request handicap accessible or first floor for sure! :)
Walk is about 7 minutes for us, it's very easy to do, we have no problems doing it. :)

Thanks for all your help, everyone!

I'm a little nervous staying here because we've stayed at "nicer" places before but just want to try a hotel within walking distance this time. And for the price, considering we'll be there nearly two weeks, I just have to give it a try.

I'm sure the walk will be fine, and yes I have asked for a ground floor, but again I am anxious about having noise above us. Mom can do the stairs if she has to and we can store the WC in our car if you think that the walls (and floors ) are paper thin.

The other thing is....this hotel is made up of several different buildings, right? Which do you prefer? I've tried to find a diagram of the layout of the place but no luck.

On Tripadvisor, it was mentioned that building 1 rooms do not have individual access to the A/C, so request building 5 which has individual window units. Maybe this was an old "tip".

Do some building have better rooms than others? More quiet? Closer to your car? I want the room in the picture on their website with the white comforters. Looks really nice. LOL

I'm sure it will be fine, but for such a long stay I'm hoping for the best.

If you do need to take the car to drop off your mom, there is a drop off/taxi lot on Harbor, just south of the crosswalk/entrance to the parks. This lot was recently made into a 3 lane drop off/pick up lot with a taxi rank in the middle. The lot entry is on the west side of Harbor, but this would allow you to sit with her while your husband parks the car back at the hotel. He could be back with you in 10-15 minutes.

You can also park in Toy Story (no stairs, no waiting for elevators) and take the shuttles to the parks. That would be much quicker than driving to M&F.

Just some suggestions -- hope they help. Have a wonderful trip!
