We are going to Disneyland in early May. My husband has a meeting at the Hilton. We have had very mixed experiences staying at Hiltons. Has anyone stayed at the Anaheim Hilton? Any input is greatly appreciated! We are taking our kids, 11 and 8.

I've stayed at the Anaheim Hilton a few times over the years, although the last time was around 4 years ago. I believe it has been refurbished since then. The Hilton used to have a four star AAA rating, but I believe it has been downgraded probably because of its age. It is a perfectly nice hotel, as nice or nicer than most of the other off-site hotels close by. However, it does tend to cater more to the business traveler since it is located adjacent to the convention center. Like the Marriott across the street, the cost of rooms vary quite a bit depending upon whether there is a convention at the time. I understand you now have to pay for transportation to Disneyland as part of the Anaheim transportation system. You can walk to Disneyland, but you really don't want to. It looks closer to the front entrance than it really is, and your feet are going to get tired enough as it is. The hotel is not real kid-friendly (I don't remember the pool being very interesting and they usually only have kids programs during the summer), but its not kid-unfriendly either. It won't be as fun as staying at Disney, but I think you will be happy.

We're going to be at the Anaheim Hilton from March 9-14 before heading off to San Diego for 3 days. If you want, I'll send you digital pics of the hotel when we return home on March 18. You can private message me your e-mail address.

We actually stayed across the street at the Anaheim Marriott 3 years ago and really enjoyed going to the Hilton for breakfast and dinner at their Cafe Oasis. As for the rooms, I'll have to let you know when we get back.

We stayed at Hilton last yr with a Priceline bid of $40.
I agree it is geared towards the business traveler not for families. The cafes in the hotel closed early and opened late so many times we had to leave the hotel to find something to eat after park closing. (Hop across the street to the Marriot- they have a Pizza Hut )

The boys could care less about the pool but we did enjoy the FOUR hot tubs! Very nice to relax in after a long day at the park and had one to ourselves most nights.

We walked but took the ART back at park closing. (The staff were not very helpful about how the ART system works. They kept insisting on charging our ART passes to the room and we demanded to pay for them in cash. They also would only give us daily passes and I know there are mulit day ones) We never tried it but, you could walk a block over and use the trams from the parking structure to the main entrance.

We found the beds to be not very firm .. they kind of swayed as we got in- so we shoved the mattress and box up to the wall to support it which helped.

My suggestion is to ask for an upper floor with Disney view. We had a great view of DCA and could see part of the fireworks from our room. It was fun to wake up in the morning and watch the park starting its day.

Walk up the street (cross Harbor) and check out the fruit/vegetable stand. We bought fresh fruits and nuts for snacks. It was also a learning opportunity on strawberry farming and a chance to see hardworking farm workers in the early morning (DH parents were migrant farm workers when he was little)

Get the breakfast buffet at the Oasis -it's not on the menu but it was reasonable compared to the regular offerings.
