I could tell you a lengthy story of how this crazy idea came about, but instead I'll just ask the question. Has anyone rented a slot at the RV park just for a place to keep their car and sleep in the car? Also, do you think it's reasonable walking distance to the parks? If not, does anyone know about the shuttle that runs to the parks and back? Yes, I'm a crazy person, I am aware.:rolleyes1

Anaheim Harbor is a pretty good walk to the parks. It's on the other side of the freeway. Maybe twice as far as the HoJo.
They use the ART shuttle, they do not have one of their own.
Are you talking occasionally or to rent a permanent space? They do rent spaces for " Tent campers". I believe they are the cheapest sites. Just get a small tent and say thats what you are doing. That would also give you use of the bathrooms and showers.
I stay there often and have seen tent campers. They show tent prices at $30.00 and $20,00.

Most RV parks have strict rules about not sleeping in cars. We were checking this out for a long road trip, and ran into this quite a bit. You may want to call and ask.

We did this yeeeeaaars ago. My son won 2 nights stay at a hotel and we got there a day early. We had a van with a fold-down bed,so it wasn't too bad.

They're a pretty nice RV park and I really doubt they would allow this. I know they have a no tents rule.
You could email them and ask but that place is way too far a walk from DLR imho.

You might be confusing them with another park. Anaheim Harbor is pretty much a parking lot with hook ups. We stay there 4 to 5 times a year. 2/3 of it is monthlies toward the back. It is next to Shakeys pizza. It is the closest and it is just under a 1 mile walk.
They do have tent spaces, the price I quoted is right off their website. I'm not sure they would like you sleeping in your car even if you had a tent. Although I have never seen anyone walking around at night , like security.
There was 4 RV parks close by. Anaheim Village is closed, it was bought out by Disney for an employee parking lot.
Orangeland is down Katella by Angels stadium and Anaheim Resort is just on the other side of the freeway also.
I don't remember seeing tents at Orangeland. I have never stayed at Anaheim Resort.

Thanks for the correction JP.
I was indeed thinking of Anaheim RV resort over on Midway.

Personally, I think it's too far to walk, but the ART stops right there on the grounds. Of the nearby RV parks, I like this one the best, but not sure they would let you just sleep in their car. Their contact information is the link above. You might want to call and ask them just to make sure. Good luck.

Totally agree with Jaylens Papa. Get a small tent, set it up and sleep in your car. I've tent camped a few times there and had no issues. I don't remember seeing any security so how would they know if you're in your car or tent?
With the tent sites (all 3 of them) it's just a small patch of grass but the bathrooms were right beside the sites.

The shuttle stops at the motel next door. I also think it's a bit of a long walk, we stayed at the now closed RV park across the road last summer and boy it's a long walk back at night.

Thanks all for your input.

Yes I will definitely call and ask. I just don't really feel comfortable sleeping in a tent because it's just going to be me. If necessary I will get a cheap tent and suck it up but I would rather just sleep in the car! In my mind I'm reasoning that if I'm paying for the slot, why should they care? But of course rules are rules...

I basically don't want to pay 2-3x as much for a hotel room when all I'm going to do is sleep there. I am already hearing it from hubby about my desire to get as much use out of my AP as possible. I have a friend who lives in Pasadena who I can stay with on occasion, but our schedules don't match up for December and I really want to see Christmastime since my AP will expire before it rolls around again!

I have tent camped there with two small kids and felt safe(this was about 8yrs ago). Husband was not along for the trip.
