Anabella route through GCH (walking)

If you start out on Katella, cross the road and make sure you are on the East side of South Disneyland Drive. Walk till you get to the entrance of GCH walk up the pathway (it will curve around to the left, keep left, my daughter thought she would be soooo smart and took us around to the right, it is a dead end) and in front of the Hotel you will come to their main entrance go through the two beautiful sliding doors and after the second set of sliding doors you will turn left (second door unless you have a stroller, first door is ramp access).
Walk down the corridor it will have 3 sets of stairs(stroller ramps are to the left), go to the end there will be another sliding door turn right to go outside then walk about 50' turn left you will then be dumped out into Downtown Disney close to the security bag check.

Yes we did stay there. When we got there they didn't have the room we reserved but had us upgraded to a king, queen. We reserved a queen, queen.
The rooms were nice and clean, but we had a storage shed outside two of our back windows.?.? The lock on the bathroom had been installed backwards but we didn't complain cause it wasn't an issue for us(should have anyway for future guests). Other than the "more than we like" walk it was a good stay and worth the price. We tried to get into the Best Western Park Place Inn & Suites but they were booked.

How long of a walk was it from the Anabella hotel? Was it too much, or was it totally manageable?
We are trying to decide between the Anabella and the Fairfield. I am leaning towards the Anabella because we need the second room for our kids.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!

It was manageable for us, my son is 9 and my daughter is 13, pushed my other son 2 in his stroller. By the end of the trip my feet were killing me but we try to stay from opening to closing and probably park hop at least once a day sometimes twice. I would say the total walk is about 3/4 of a mile.

But if you can't decide I would go with the Fairfield alot shorter walk.

I don't think the walk into the park would be that big of a factor if you don't have to go back to the hotel during the day.

There is a much shorter walk from the Anabella into the park. Cross Katella at either So. Disneyland Dr. or at the signal at the convention center and walk into the walking entrance of the parking lot (it is right where the letters "sn" are in the word Disneyland on the bottom of your map). From there you can walk to the tram stop in that lot (which is right near the tram loop you see in that map). The tram will take you right to the security check on the east side of the park entrances. We did this when we stayed at the Desert Palms.

Thanks we did this walk everytime into the park. Maybe if we stay there again we will try the tram.

or if you walk in late, you can always head north more and ride the monorail in. Thats always a solution there.

Yeah you will have to cut through the parking lot and walk through a gate, the monorail will be straight across the way.

We did that one night, walked right off the monorail cross the pathway for DTD and through a "Cast Members Only" gate, it goes to a parking lot. We had to walk through the lot because there is no sidewalk until you get to the other side of the lot. Cross the street and walk down South Disneyland Drive to the hotel.

But that only works if that parking lot is open, yes? Is it the Timon lot? I've read alot about it on another board, lol, where the conceirge of Anabella posts.

Then again, this is xmas-time, so maybe it WOULD be open...hmm.

Then again again, going into GCH would be good, b/c they supposedly have french toast sticks, and DS has a new love for french toast, so it would be convenient to be going through there...
