Does anyone know anything about this hotel? It looks
amazing from their virtual tour on their website and the
AAA book gives it three stars. We are coming to DL
area next year for a week before we take the DCL
cruise in August and so far this hotel has really peaked
our interest -- both for price and the size of the mini-
suites.

If anyone has stayed there, or heard things about it,
could you let me know? Thanks for your help.

Cathy

I love the Anabella. I stayed there last year about this time and it was great. I'd stay there again any time.

Between the buildings there are very nice garden areas, absolutely lovely. The bathroom was granite (I think) and there was a (frosted) window in the shower that opened out to the garden.

The room we had was a "L" layout wrapped around the bathroom, with one bed in each arm of the L.

I have pictures somewhere, I can put them up online if you're interested.

We found the room to be very comfortable, never heard any noise from our neighbours, and it was close enough that we could have walked if we had wanted. In fact I did walk it once, but my mother has a bit of a mobility problem and would not have been able to walk it.

I especially liked the service from the front desk, they were very helpful. When we checked out I was asked how our stay was, and I said it was great but that the bathtub drained a little slowly. The next thing I knew the guy was talking into a lapel microphone (didn't even see he had it on) and was requesting a maintenance call for the room. Talk about quick.

We didn't eat in their restaurant, so I can't comment on that.

I stayed here as well. The Anabella is three old motels that were extensively remodeled into one new place. It is pretty with nice gardens and very nicely decorated rooms. There were a couple things that reminded me that it was not an all new place. The room configuration was interesting and not the way they would build something now. I had a room with a queen bed and then another seperate small room with a day bed. The entrance into the vanity area was very skinny. The bathroom was all "marble" and tile and mirrors. It was comfortable and quiet. The "hotel" is mostly two stories high with all exterior corridors. The pool area was nice looking as was the restaurant(didn't eat there). If you plan to walk over to Disneyland it would be a 10-15 minute walk for fast walkers and 15 - 20 minute walk if you amble.

Thank you both so much. Your info has definitely inspired us to stick with our first impression and stay there. It definitely looks different than your typical high rise and that's what we wanted.

Amberle3, your pictures were great! Thank you.

Glad you liked them. It was my first trip to DL as an "official" travel agent and I found myself taking pictures of things I normally wouldn't have. And yet I still came home and thought of a thousand things I would have liked to have pictures of (like the bathroom, and the shampoo/lotion things, I seem to recall they were quite good).

One thing that surprised me: We actually used the little patio area and sat out there in the evenings. I'm a fairly low-key private type person (really!) and I don't like to be sitting where I think people are going to be staring at me. Gee, that sounds like maybe I'm just paranoid. In any event, I didn't feel out in the open on the patio, and found it quite relaxing.

On that same trip we also stayed at the Staybridge (which I do NOT recommend) and at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas.

I stayed here a couple years ago for the Thanksgiving period. I loved the hotel. It's very nice. The pool was good size and warm. What I did not care for was having to use the bus. I know that Thanksgiving is a busy time in the parks. People were getting on the bus that had just walked up. The people that were waiting got left behind (me). They were aware of what they were doing but did not care. For that reason alone I only stay on site. If you don't mind the bus then I think that the Annabelle is a very nice hotel and a good price. By the way. They have a cafe the Tangerine, I think. The food is great. Prices are low. The staff is wonderful.

^You can still stay offsite and not have to take a shuttle.

We have stayed at there twice. The first time was Feb 2002 and we were also in the area of the hotel where each of the rooms had a small patio area out front and the room had a King bed with a sofa and then a small room with a fridge, TV and daybed. It was very comfortable spacious and nice. The only downside was that the walls were a little thin and we could hear our neighbor snoring at night. Other than that it was a great stay and we were treated very well. Because of this experience we stayed again in June 2003 and this time we were place in another section of the hotel, farther away from the front desk and we did not have sitting area out front. The queen bed was the size of a double bed and it was very uncomfortable and dipped in the middle. The room was much smaller than our previous room, but they decorated it very nice. We did complain about the bed indicating it did not match our previous experience.

Hopefully they have correct that by now. BTW both times we got an internet rate on a standard room.
