As some of you know, I lost my beloved Annie to myasthenia gravis in June. I was planning on getting a puppy in the fall but a rotator cuff inury with limited use of my right arm put an end to that idea. The breeder offered me "Jude". He and I bonded immediately. He has been with our family now for three weeks and he is more incredible every day. I can't think of one thing that isn't wonderful about him. First of all, he is Annie's nephew. Her litter mate is his father. Don't ask me how black standard poodles produce white standard poodles, I don't have a clue. DSs jokingly have said, he is "Annie the White". (Gandalf the Gray comes back as Gandalf the White). He really is wonderful. He comes everytime he is called, even when he sees a rabbit. He has done all of his business outside and communicates that he needs to go out, even though he has always had a doggie door. He is learning "pet tricks", shake hands, sit pretty, (two paws up) even though his life has been the show ring. He had to be invited into our bed but now he knows he is welcomed. He doesn't beg, he doesn't steal food off of the table and he loves riding in the car. Most of all, he is crazy about me which is amazing considering he is 8 years old and had a wonderful family before. I gave him a bath today and there is nothing I can't do to him. I hope Jude lives forever.

Jude sounds like the perfect pet. Good Luck!!!

Under the category that "everything has a silver lining", I was really bummed about tearing my rotator cuff. I have to have surgery which has now been moved back to Oct. 25, BUT! If I didn't tear my rotator cuff I wouldn't have Jude and I probably wouldn't have a puppy because good standard poodles are hard to find in our area.

It's so funny that you posted this, as I was going to ask you how he was doing!
I'm glad to hear how well he is doing and I agree about the puppy thing. Walter is the high light of my year, but WOW is he a lot of work!

Do you have a picture to post, I'd love to see him

I had a minature poodle growing up, he was the best.

What a neat name; Walter. He is cute. Yup, I can imagine, up at two in the morning, watching what goes in the mouth, nipping, chewing, etc. I lucked out!

DH is in the process of reloading the hard drive after he wiped it out. I don't think he needed to wipe it out (the pc not the apple that I use) but he did. As soon as I get it up and running, I will take a picture and post it, along with Annie's old pictures.

Walt is 15 weeks old now (I got him at 7 weeks) and we're past most of the middle of the night stuff, but the chewing is still out of control! He's teething right now and everything goes in his mouth! It's especially worse for the Retriever breeds. (And of course, Walter is a Golden Retriever.)

Congrats on finding your 'Jude'. He sounds like a perfect addition to your family.
Puppies are a ton of work!!! We have a 7 month old Boston Terrier that is the light of my life. And we adopted a year old black lab that was soooo much less work! LOL.

Have fun with Jude!

So happy to hear you are enjoying your new dog and how lucky for him to find a good loving home.
