An Ohana Reunion...The Waterless Cruise...

Don't you just hate when those leaders aren't quick enough?? :rotfl2: Actually..my troop calender was out in September..can't say I don't give them enough notice!

pirate: 'ing the crossed fingers!

It's actually a "kid run" Troop, so the Troop leader is waiting for the Senior Patrol to finish the schedule for distribution.....

Very cool..my girls have been running the meetings this year but the events are mine to plan (or atleast get down to 2 options and then they vote)

Well..I hope they decide soon! keeping fingers crossed you will be able to join us.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!!! And lots of good food!!!

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!!!

Did the Black Friday thing this morning. Then, got suckered into taking DD and friends to the mall in the afternoon. I just picked up a some door-buster gifts for family, but mostly went early AM to get stuff for the day-care kids (I have 9 to buy for). I'm able to get really cool X-Mas and Birthday gifts for the coming year for $7-$10 each kid. Saves me money through out the year. Unfortunately, none of DD's stuff is goes on sale. I'm hoping to save a few bucks with her on Cyber Monday.

Definately could get a feel for what stores are not going to be around in six months. Some of the high end clothing stores are refusing to get into a price war and most of them were totally empty throughout the day. Sorry, for me if I can get a really cool vest for my neice for 60% off at Macy's, I'm not going to pay full price at American Eagle Outfitters. Their Black Friday Door Buster was 20%off or B1G1half off, on sweaters, which were $70 +...LAME

Well..we went shopping and I was so tired I completely forgot about chat last night.

Oh well..next week hopefully!

How did the midnight shopping go?

Chat was "Teach Cheryl Facebook" night

Midnight shopping was interesting..unfortunately, I am not a shopper so it was more follow the shoppers instead but it made my Sis happy and we had fun.

Did Cheryl understand the lesson? :lmao:

Any update on the Scouting?

That's great that you found such good deals! We're not even sure yet what we are getting the kids.... I usually do all the deciding but, after 28 yrs I am tired! LOL!

Yeah thanks for that Tom. The TV is mine again

John

Probably too much to hope for the phone ever being yours again? :lmao: :lmao:

Hey........are you two trying out for a comedy routine???:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Tom fair warning ...........you are going to be sorry you introduced facebook to me.

Cheryl, I was going to say the same thing! :lmao: I think we need to thow my Jon in with them! LOL!

And just an fyi..you are one of the few people that I talk to on the phone. :goodvibes I am an email person -- although I don't talk much in my emails..... I guess I am really an *in real life* person! :rotfl2:

I think the wine has finally kicked in!
I told Jon that I have changed my mind on this whole *no drinking* business!
So, now I may make up for lost time.... how many drinks do people drink in an average year?
I have 28yrs to make up - when I was 18 the drinking age here was 18. Although I did drink at a wedding reception for one of my cousins....It will go down in family history...it turns out I hold my liquer well and don't go down until after the 2nd bottle of wine........

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving & survived Black Friday! :goodvibes

Grand Gathering info:

I called Grand Gatherings a couple of times, but it took me some research to figure out what the heck they were talking about, but I think I got it pretty much figured out now? :confused3

If we want to link as a Grand Gathering, I would have to call & give my resort reservation number & then I would be given a Grand Gathering planner & number that you would all be given & then you would call & add your resort reservation number so we could be linked as a group & our planner would make all our group dining plans for us.

The problem is that some of us are not staying on-site so we will NOT all qualify for a Grand Gathering; however, I can could call & book a private party instead? I did call catering & asked about a private dessert party & it is "doable" but they won't tell me nuttin' as far as prices until I actually book it. Does this sound like something we might like to do instead? Would we want to include dinner? A cash bar? What date? Any feedback, ideas, comments???

We don't have to decide anything now & in fact I think we should wait till after the holidays since everyone is busy right now. Maybe in January we could get a roll call going with resort, dates, who's planning what, etc?

I did find a post in which someone booked a private dinner in Epcot, but it's from 2006 so I'm not sure how much has changed & how much the price has increased:

"As for private events in the parks, I went through Epcot catering and we are having a private IllumiNations party to celebrate my son's 3rd birthday on the lower terrace of the UK pavillion. Blair from Epcot catering has been an absolute doll! I got quite the bargain and a MUCH better deal then if I had gone through the Grand Gatherings people. To give you an idea, I think I am paying about $25 per person for the private party in the UK and that inludes 4 hot entrees and a few simple appetizers, all you can eat and all you can drink (soda and water only) for 2 hours + $250 for the site rental. I will also have to pay a $50 small party fee if I have less than 20 people show up but right now, I don't think that will be a problem either way.

You get a Disney security guard for your event in order to make sure that only people invited are allowed in, an event coordinator to assist with your event, and 1-2 people manning the food stations. There is even an option of allowing guests who don't have park tickets to attend your event. For $12.50 each, Disney security will escort your guests who don't have tickets to the party location starting at 1 hour prior to the party."

I love the idea of a private party, but I think the price from that post sounds a little too low. I have a price list from 2002, and it was more than that. Then they tack on a 20% (it may be 22% by now) service charge, and then they tax that total.

Hmmmm I thought it sounded too good to be true, but I can't seem to find anything that gives an idea of prices. :confused3

Did they say you can't include off site people? I wonder if we called and told them our dear Aunt lives in Orlando and wanted to join the 30-50 going, could that happen?
