An Ohana Reunion...The Waterless Cruise...

......and JellyRolls, let's not forget JellyRolls. Something tells me I'll be taking a cab home a night or two :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

Nope I really want to do Jellyrolls before they close that one down too! :sad2: Not that I heard they were....just never know! ;)

We have never been but count us in..that would be fun!

It is a fun place for the kids (and adults)

We still have not made a final decision yet but leaning toward August (less $$$). If we do go then it will be from the 12-22nd.

What are some things you would like to do? Slow down and visit each park on a non-commando pace. Last (and only time) we were there we saw a park a day and did not stop running.

Ok finally something we have actually done. Yes we really enjoyed Ohana and would love to go as a group.

Yeah, Roger :cool1: . August is less money and less crowded too. The weather will probably take care of slowing you all down a bit. Commando pace in Florida during August heat is down right dangerous :scared:

OK - subscribing

and although haven't made reservations, Des would kill me if I don't make it so count us in. I have seen Illuminations from behind a tree so Steve and the girls and I would more than likely be in it. If O'Hana's is the one at the Polynesian, we did it a long time ago but it was only the 5 of us, so that wasn't much fun - a group - sounds like a blast. I'll keep it in mind.

YEAH!!! You are going to take a break from cruisin to join us

We would be in for anything! Only saw Illuminations once on our first trip. We had to go back to EPCOT to retrieve Kaitlin's jacket from lost and found and watched them. Most likely we will be there Aug 16-21 or 22. Depends if we make it a road trip or not. 2 days on the road or 2 1/2 hours in the air? :confused3

Well I hope you can make the 2 1/2 hours work....more time at WDW

Is there anything left for nightclubs in Pleasure Island?

hey Diane...was poking around the Grand Gatherings info on the main page, and even though the schedule has not been released yet for this August, it seems in August 2008 they only had them once a week. I don't know if this is something that books quickly (like the pontoon boats) the day it opens for reservations?

Just an FYI

I think that's why I will stay at the Boardwalk or Beach Club..just make my way upstairs..kind of like on the ship :rotfl:

Well, if you get enough people to stay at the boardwalk hotels you can assign a designated walker (DW) to make sure you all get back to your rooms OK:laughing:

Come on! I promise..we will stay up late and hang out in the hallway talking :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: How could I turn that down??? I think that was the night that after I left to go to my room I ran into Roger & Cheri!!!! :yay: It was a fun night!

Along the same lines, would anyone be interested in a dinner at 'Ohana? I would be willing to call at the 180 day mark and make the reservations. I went there with a very large group before and it is really alot of fun.

We would be so there with y'all!!!

Would anyone consider a Grand Gathering? I know it's a bit expensive, but just thought I'd throw this one out there & see what you all think?

I think that sounds like a wonderful idea!!!

Roger -- we don't do WDW commando style! I do like to walk quickly and have a plan for the day. BUT, I learned a LONG time ago that the only person that cares for a schedule is ME. :rotfl: SO, now I have a *loose* schedule and everyone follows it so, that I don't become *testy*. :thumbsup2

This is Jon *It's my VACATION why would I want to get up early????* We get up when we get up -- I am always the first one up so I have my shower and walk down to the lobby (we stay in the Sugarloaf building in the GF) and eat breakfast. After I eat I then get a few things on a plate to bring up to Jon (he very rarely is ready to leave while the breakfast food is still out). By then the kids are ready to eat.
We have had 2 breakfast character meals (1 @ Park Faire and the other @ O'Hana's so, they only take moments to get to the resturants ;) )

We then stay at a park until we are tired or too hot usually late afternoon. We go back to our room and shower/get ready for dinner. Go to whatever park/resort dinner is at and then hang out there for a while. We are usually back in our room by 10 -- Jon likes to get a last beer or after dinner drink from the lobby before they close for the evening. About half the time we watch *Wishes* from right outside our room.
Claire is afraid of loud noises so, we've never seen Wishes from the park.
If we don't have dinner reservations then we swim at the resort and grab a counter service meal for dinner @ Gasparilla Grill.

:cool1: Tori is thrilled Kaitlin is going to be there!

I know Kaitlin is excited too! She still misses everyone!

I would rather fly. Driven down twice I-75, I-77 to I-95, not thrilling. Now I have a credit with SWA. Checked my airfare for Feb and it went down, so now I've got a credit.

We don't do anything commando any more! :rotfl: We went in July a year ago, so we know how hot it is. Just have to pace yourself.

Never been to Jelly Rolls. Might have to look into staying at Boardwalk. In Feb we are trying OKW.

Can't wait!!!!

Oh only once a week? That might be tough, & I bet it does book quick. I'll give them a call & let you all know what we have to do to book it.

I absolutely hate flying, but I hate taking 2 days to drive even more. I wish I was Jeanne & could blink my way there!

As for the heat....yep it's bad, but we prefer to go in August, because it's a little less crowded the second half of the month & the kids have a little time to unwind before they have to go back to school. We just go to the parks later in the day when it starts to cool down & try to plan around evening EMH so we can stay really late & get on the rides without too much of a wait.

Who us???????????????     ;)

:rotfl:

Count Dave and I in on the Grand Gatherings. We will probably use some of Heather's points to stay at BW or BC. She won't be able to be there - she's in Montreal for a convention then. So it will just be the two of us.

Typhoon Lagoon is our favorite water park. The kids and grandkids love the wave pool. The lazy river is more my speed. We usually pack a big lunch and get there early for a good (that means SHADY) spot. They do have some early extra magic hours there sometimes. That makes getting a good spot easier.

Since we will only be there for two (maybe we can stretch it to 3) days, I'll have to wait to book the room till you set the exact dates. Since we'll be using DVC Sun thru Thurs would be best for us -- less points.

Had a great F&W trip with the kids & grandkids. The beef medallions with cheese polenta was the favorite this year. Enjoyed MNSSHP but it would have been better without the rain. But the rain kept the lines down. 5 minutes wait for the cars. Of course both DD's went on with the grandkids without ponchos and it started pouring while they were on the course. They only dripped for 15 or 20 minutes. The grandkids loved it.

If you need any info from us for the Grand Gatherings reservation, just PM me.

Barbara

The boys and I are booked August 19 - 29 at the Dolphin.
I'm definately interested in the grand gathering.

I'm still trying to decide how to break the news to Jon..... :scared:

Good evening,

I wanted to ask my fellows Diser's if they would say a prayer for people here in our areas. We are having terrible fires once again..today on our way a birthday party, we went right by a hillside burning and within 1/2 an hour - it had jumped the freeway and we were diverted on the way home. So far in our area, no one has been killed but it is just terrible to see the devistation to these homes. We are about 12 miles away so we are safe but I know that one of Tori's teachers lives within a couple of miles of where the fires are buring. I am not sure if she has been evactuated or not.

North of us there has been additional fires in Santa Barbara and in what is called the San Fernando Valley. They feel there are have been some deaths there. It is just unbelievably sad.

Anyways, if you would keep everyone in your thoughts, I would appreciate it.

Cheryl and I were talking about those in the LA areas. I remember when Crash posted pics of the fire not so far from his own home. Stay safe.

Of course! Dh and I both have relatives in the area. Last year, when the fires were so bad, one of my cousins emailed pics of the ash all over her backyard. :sad2:
I felt sorry for my cousin's ds...he had only been married a couple of months and his IL's had to come stay at their house because of the fires!

Yes my thoughts go out to all those affected! My brother lives in Burbank & he called me last night on the way home from work & said the smoke was so thick that he had a headache & felt nauseous. Everyone in the area...stay safe! :guilty:

Just tell them there is going to be a hockey game at WDW.:thumbsup2

Of course.........you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. John was just asking me last night if everyone was far enough away from the fires. Sounds scary the wind could make the fire jump and spread so fast.

Please all of you, Desiree and family, Laura and family, Crash and family and Roger and family.................... stay safe!!!  I know Grandma Chris and Monica live up north.:flower3:

Just thought I'd post some pictures of our view - things are much better today than yesterday.

Here was my view at 8:45 am. The sky was unbelievably orange:

The the view from my back yard at 12 noon: You can see the difference in the sky - the cloudy part was what we had but more grey yesterday all day.

This was the center of my pool:
