I love this board... I really really do but sometimes I feel so out of the loop.....

It seems (to me) that ya'll know everyones REAL names, even when they are not incorporated into the screen name OR posted in the siggy.....

It drives me bonkers when someone says... Wow, <insert real name here> Your idea was great.... then I frantic scroll back up trying to figure out which idea the poeter thought was so wonderful.... UGH bad example but you get my drift (I hope)

Is there some sort of handy dandy cheat sheet??????

Not everyone is happy having their real name used on the CB and I can understand that.

As far as I know, we have no cheat sheets with first names. Sounds like a neat idea though Include only those names of people who don't care if we know their real name. Great idea!

Hi Laura! My real name is Steve. You're not the only one who feels "out of the loop." I still feel like a newbie here. I know a few people, but not that well. I guess it takes time and hard work.

I try to keep up, but working full-time makes it hard. I try to sneak on during a break or at lunch. But I still feel "loop-less" sometimes. I guess that's ok.

When I first got my username here, I didn't want to use my real name because of some harassing jerks that I had met on the internet around that time. I think when I first posted under helenabear I did say what my real name was because I used to post using it on the very old boards, but I didn't say much about my first name after that for a long time. When I felt more comfortable I started putting it in my signature. So my first name is not Helena or Helen, but really Elaine (although Helena is a name of mine)

Sometimes user name are really long or contain numbers and stuff, so if I KNOW the person's name I might use it in a post.
As Steve said (Eeyore1954) it can be difficult to learn the name if you don't spend a lot of time reading a lot of posts...or if you've had no other occasion to find it out by getting more "personal" with people through PMs, DISmeets, etc.
I would guess that for a wide variety of legitimate and/or personal reasons, a lot of people may be leery of having their real name known in an "internet" community such as this though.
