My Celebration of Life Trip. Please if you can come and join me and my DD as I give thanks. I look forward to meeting many of you! I also send this to WDW, etc. and to some of the local news stations out of Philly.
On Thanksgiving Day 2003, I was Channel 6 Boscov's/ABC Grand Prize Winner for a Grand Gatherings Trip to WDW. I took that trip on May 21,2004 along with 7 of my friends and family. In my heart I knew there was a reason for my trip. you see I just love WDW, and I even have a Disney Room in my house. There was just one thing, i knew on this trip that I was dying. I hide it from all of my friends, but they soon while on our trip figured it out. I had lived most of my life on insulin, around 40 years! On this Magical vacation, I stood infront of The Castle and watched WISHES nighttime fireworks. I was so touched and moved, that I began to cry, but they where tears of JOY! All of my friends wanted to know why I was crying and I told them that I could not tell them, not just yet, I needed to tell my husband first. I came home and made an announcement. I had made up my mind to save my life I would look into undergoing a very rare Pancreas alone Transplant. By July 2004, I had already went to many hospital's around the country, etc. and had gotten on the national list UNOS. On Aug. 13, 2004, I underwent a life saving Pacreas Alone transplant at The University of Maryland Medical Center. My recovery has taken almost two year's. I am insulin free and living a wonderful life. I recieved cards from all around the country as people have followed my story, via the website THE DIS. I have teamed up with one of my Dr's and we are currently writing a book about Diabetes. Anyway on I will be leaving for a Celebration of Life trip to WDW on Aug. 16 - Aug. 26th. On Monday Aug. 21, 2006 at 11:00am, I will stand in front of Cinderella's Castle at The Wishing Well among family and friends, and place a single rose. The "Rose" will be my way of thanking my donor and bring donor awareness. Also I will continue to give back and work with many diabetic's to help find a cure. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, (Kitty) __________________
