Like a few others, I decided to check our smoke detectors. It turns out that although the power light (it is hard wired with a battery back up) is on, it is defective and I could not get it to test or go off like the one downstairs. I just replaced the battery a few months ago and didn't think to check it. Just assumed that power meant that it was working. I am truly sorry for your loss and your family has been in my thoughts and prayers since I found out yesterday. Christy
