Thanks for the update - everyone in my office has been getting really bad news today, so it is nice to see something positive. What color is s/he? Sometimes color alone can be a good indicator of sex (most orange tabbies are male, 99% of calicos are females, etc. No, I'm not crazy cat lady, my Dad's a veterinarian!)

You aren't crazy. I thought this was just general cat knowledge. Or maybe I just know this tidbit because I own one of each.

Sounds like this little furbaby has all of you rapped around her little paw.

Jenn -
just wanted to say that I LOVE your cat pics. The one on the far right looks JUST like a cat I had that disappeared 2 days after Christmas in 2001 (you didn't happen to be in GA and pick up a kitty that you thought was a stray and take it home, did you? That is the fantasy I have concocted for myself so that I don't have to believe that she was killed!) Unfortunately for me, my husband is allergic, so as my kitties have disappeared, either through diseases (hemobartenella and cancer) or through disappearance (twice), I haven't been allowed to replace them, so now I have no cats for the first time in my adult life.

Okay, mrFDNY responded in the meantime with color information, and I don't think either a grey tabby or a tuxedo cat (white with black) has a high incidence of gender affiliation either way - sorry! Hey, if s/he doesn't get any friendlier by @ 3 mos of age, you might want to check and see if NYC has a feral cat program that will spay/neuter and then release back to the same area, otherwise you might have to drug him/her to get fixed!

Just wondering if there is an update on this little guy?
hi,
well since the weather has been in the 60's around here she/he has not been around.i have seen her/him every once in a while.she or he comes around to eat and sneaks into the fire house.since the weather has been nice she does not stay more than a hour or so with us.we still can't get very close to her and last week someone left a deceased pigion at her food bowl.i figure since we are giving her dinner, she brought us dinner back in return.YUMMY!!she's put on weight and does not look so skinny anymore and her fur has a nice shine to it now.

Awww, how sweet! I vote for the name Pyro!

Thanks mrfdny! I was following the story closely as about the same time, my DH told me that they had about 4 stray kitties living in an abandoned car that they use for training purposes at his fire station. They were working with the animal hospital right next door to the station to trap all the kitties and "fix" them. Once fixed, they were let go again at the station and the guys have been keeping an eye on them.
