an illegal stowaway.was caught in my fire house tonight.*HAPPY UPDATE POST #17,PAGE 2

hi all,
so i worked today and around 7 pm,i"m sitting in the fire house and go out to the floor(where we park the FDNY rigs)and i am just walking around looking at our rig and i see something that does not belong and a comment was passed by this illegal fire house stow away,braking into a fire house is a felony btw.well i will not stand for this!i do not care that it is below freezing out,no one has the right to brake into my fire house.so,i went inside and got a warm blanket,a nice bowl of cat food and a bowl of water and tucked it in the back of the fire house,it's comment was meow.this poor thing looked freezing and straving and young very young.maybe a month old at the most.it has now made us it's home,it's bed in the inside of the fire house where we keep extra hoses in the back.It ate,pooped(i got to clean it up,yay)and tucked itself in the blanket and took a nap.as i left tonight it was still sleepy.but it l;ooked so peaceful.the guys at the fire house are aware of it's presence and have promised me to take care of it,i have the next 4 days off.so they promissed to feed it and look after the little guy or girl for the next 4 days.so now instead of the normal fire house dalmation that most fire companys have,we have a fire house kitten.

Aww that's adorable! What will you name it? I visited NYC for the first time in December, and while we were walking to the Met a firetruck passed, sirens blazing - I almost wondered aloud whether Mr FDNY was in it, but kept silent because I didn't want to make my company think that I'd gone completely bonkers (instead of my usual vaguely crazy) You came to mind because your signature is so touching, it's what I associate with NYC fire fighters. My DH's firestation had a stray cat that my daughter named Smokey (I know - really creative for a FF's daughter).

All of the shifts took turns taking care of him. Then one day, he mysteriously vanished. There are rumors that one of the FF's, who didn't care for the cat, dumped him somewhere else.

hi all,
yes mrs kitty is still hanging around the fire house or maybe mr kitty.we have not figured how she is able to get in and out.she seems to be scared of humans,however she is letting me and a guy i work with jimmy get close to her as long as we don't try to pet or touch her.tuesday night she had fillet migon,and she loved it.we leave water and dry food down in the back room 24/7 for her and we give her wet 2x daily and at dinner time when we eat she'll get a little taste of what were having.she does not like lobster or shrimp.she's very tiny maybe only 4 pounds and appears to be no more than a month old.we have not seen any other cats in the area and we been wondering where momma cat or any of her brothers or sister might be or what happened to them.she comes and goes as she pleases,we been looking for the way she gets in,only because if she is getting in what else might be getting in or soon to get in.she is used to the rigs now and doesn't even blink when we start them,thier diesel engines and can be loud,but she pays no attention to them.our captain caught wind of what is going on,he acted like a real jerk and then we caugh him giving her lobster.she has a litter box which she uses,her own bed with FDNY blanket and already some softee has snuck in a couple of fake play toy miceys,and a few cat nip balls.someone posted a sign and a direct order in the fire house,before pulling rig out of fire house check for sleepy kitty under rig and tires.the guys at the house i find are spoiling her,each "rough and tough guy"at the fire house starts his tour by bringing in a snack or toy for her.jimmy is the most senior man and i am # 2 right be hind him at the fire house so we made it clear that if anyone including chiefs mess with the cat,thier starting war with us.so it's clear no one will mess with her,in fear of pissing off the 2 guys with the most time on the job.i been trying to get a pic of her but she is very camera shy and runs away when we get too close.

Thanks for the update - everyone in my office has been getting really bad news today, so it is nice to see something positive. What color is s/he? Sometimes color alone can be a good indicator of sex (most orange tabbies are male, 99% of calicos are females, etc. No, I'm not crazy cat lady, my Dad's a veterinarian!)
