This is an idea that I came up with that I wonder if anyone has done. My children are far to young to appreciate this yet, but for 3-8 year olds, I think this is cool. Here goes: We have all heard of the personalized Guest of Honor badges, and how you could get them for the darling little ones through Dreams Unlimited prior to a trip. What if, upon arriving at WDW, and getting settled at your room, rather then heading off full steam to a park, you take the family to the Disney Marketplace, over to the studio where you can get your photo with Mickey. This next part requires a willing CM. Give the G.O.H. passes to the CM, asking him or her to ask Mickey Mouse to present them to the kids as a way of welcoming them to WDW. All of this requires some parental slight of hand, but hey, isn't that a job requirement?:p
I think that this little scheme, properly done, could be a major highlight in any little one's trip.
What do you think?

Bob.

I'm going to order my daughter's GOH badge and put it in our mailbox with a mickey sticker....she thinks everytime we get something with Disney on it, Mickey is writing to her!!!!!!

We had Mickey visit our room (like Santa) the first night in Orlando and Mickey brought my kids a stuffed Mickey and Minnie doll that I purchased at the Disney Outlet store in AL. They cost much less than buying them in the park. Also they got Disney tatoo's and a few other things.

We bought our Guest of Honor badges at the Christmas store in Downtown Disney. They engraved their names on it.

kbuck...how did you get Mickey to visit your hotel room??

I bought mickey material at wal mart today & am going to make pillow cases to put into the packages for my kids that I'm mailing to our resort . I'll come up with some reason from mickey that they need to take them with them (we switching resorts during our stay)
They will smell like Downy from home, so hopefully my kids will sleep good that first night.

She means pretend . Like a santa visit. Get it??

Mickey visited our cabin every night and brought 2 of the $1 disney figures.

DUH!!! That didn't even cross my mind! I was so wrapped up in the idea of Mickey coming to our room I lost touch with reality!!

On our last trip Mickey came to our room every night. The boys were told that Mickey wouldn't come unless they were sleeping. Mickey would leave them something small every night. One night it was a mickey pad and pen, one night it was Disney coloring books, one night swim goggles and a Mickey Keychain. Thank heavens for the dollar store LOL. The kids felt really special AND it helped them to go to sleep at night after long hectic days at the park.

Don't feel bad, UrsulaFan! I got caught up in the moment and thought this was something that Disney offered!!! I got all excited and started planning.....I"m right there with you in that fantasy world!!!

Our trip was truly magical because of a little planing "MOM" did before we left.
First of all, my DD's birthday was a week before we went so Cinderella sent her a Cinderella doll with a note simply saying that she could not wait for my DD to come for a visit. She sent her an invitation to attend a royal breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table. I just simply went to Mail Plus and mailed a package to the house with a special designed letter from Cinderella. I had the lady sign Cinderella's name so that it did not look like my handwriting.
Next, Mickey and Minnie sent my DD and DS Guest of Honor Badges, autograph books and fat pins in the mail.
Here again I went to Mail Plus and sent a small package to the house with that lovely disigned letter, made by mom with pictures of each character and just a short note telling the kids how excited Mickey and Minnie were.
As we arrived, Mom needed to check and make sure that the room was the right room. I just walked ahead of the family, while they checked out the pool and places Mickey and Minnie Puppets on each bed with a special note.
Lastly, Everynight someone left special notes and special things for the kids. Some of the things that were left were: Winnie The Pooh Candy Land Game,
Mickey Mouse Yatzee, Pez Candy with Characters on the top, Mickey Mouse Kites, Disney Beanies,
Mickey Mouse Memory, Buzz Lightyear Tops, Disney
Coloring Books. I know that there was more, but I just can't remember it all right now.
The resort Mousekeeping even got into the special magical things. They made special things out of our towels for the kids Winnie The Pooh toothbrushes which were placed in the room by mom before the kids came back from the pool the first day. They even placed their beanies in special places and gave them things to eat and stuff like that.
I wanted to make this a trip of a lifetime. You know the kind that the kids would never forget. It was truly the most magical time of our lives. I had so much fun planning things. It was WONDERFUL!
I hope these ideas will help you. Please feel free to respond back if there is anything I can help you with.

You must remember that magical things happen at WDW. Even if you have to create a little magic for yourself. It was all worth it. I would do again in a heartbeat.
