An idea I want to run past you all

So we currently are booked at HoJo for four nights (9/13-9/17) but I really want to take advantage of the DLH end of summer sale. The rates there would be $318 for the first three nights but a whopping $534 for the last night (Friday). This is for a standard view room.

But here is my idea. If we do the first three nights at DLH in a deluxe (pool) view room the rate is $370 per night. That would still give us access to early morning on all three days we have planned . But we could check out at 11am and move back to the HoJo for our final night. In the end, it saves us about $200. I like this idea since Friday morning we would start in the parks at 7am and by 10:30 or so, I think would be an ideal time to head back to DLH, check out and go check in at HoJo. Of course, we would just drop our bags off and head back to park until room is ready at 3pm (nap/swim time). What do y'all think?

Sounds like a good idea if you don't mind changing rooms. For me, it wouldn't be worth changing hotels, especially on our last night and a weekend.

I am all for spending as much time on property as possible and it usually entails changing hotels. It doesn't bother me or my family at all. You will have access to all the amenities at the DLH until midnight on the day of checkout. My only suggestion would be to end at the DLH instead of Hojo if it's feasible. We have moved from on to off property and it a little bit of a buzz kill.

Yeah I am just always looking for a way to justify saving money. Plus I like the idea of having a pool view room for three nights versus a parking lot for four.

Yeah the buzzkill factor is certianly a possibility but I think that last day (Friday with full hours) will be spent mostly in the park anyway. Conversely the first day will be an all day at the hotel day since its our arrival day. Would much prefer to spend that at DLH than offsite. The first two park days, they close early, so more time at the DLH. The whole idea is to save a couple hundred bucks by HoJO'ing it on the last, busiest day in park night.

I think it sounds like a great plan. We are actually doing almost the exact same thing. Staying at Parkvue Inn Friday night though.

Do it! Last trip to DL we stayed GCH until our last day where we moved offsite for the savings! worked great.

I like your plan but I'd pack up and bring your bags to Bell Services before EMH and then when you're ready to take your break pick up your bags and Uber over to HoJos with them. One person could probably do this while everyone else walked over to HoJos and checked in and got your room for a nap. Just a thought.

That's a great idea!

Huge error on my end. It turns out it really isn't that much cheaper to stay offsite our last night. It would only save us about $25 if we stayed offsite the last night. Not worth it to move everything over for that amount. They charge $100 more per night if you do 3 nights at DLH versus 4. Pretty smart pricing on their part.

For $25 I agree with staying. Otherwise I agree with changing rooms for $200 if that is better for your budget. We did our first day at DLH since it was the only day we were just hanging out and getting to fully enjoy the hotel including water slides (though they kept closing the pool for pixie dust), character meal, checking out Downtown Disney etc. In our case even when they made us family of the day and upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite my kids never cared about switching since the new hotel the pool wasn't as nice but never closed and they made friends quickly and had a blast. By staying 1 night we got our early entry to DCA. We did have friends on our hall so we put everything in their room in the early morning but easily could have done bell services. We took a cab to the new hotel checked in and were able to walk 10 minutes back to the park (stayed at Desert Palms). We also enjoyed having a full kitchen, free printer use, free breakfast etc.
