An idea for a DVC owners perk?

Okay for folks that stay(and pay as I do) onsite when they visit US/IOA for the front of the line benefit - Why doesn't WDW give this to DVC owners? We do/did spend quite a chunk of change to own DVC and we do and will continue to pay annual dues each year through 2042.

My DH and I have thought of ways Disney might do this:

1. At check in you will recieve a room key card that says "DVC member FASTPASS " or something to that effect for all the members of your party - which would let you use the FP line as often as you wished.

2. For each member of your group you would receive a FASTPASS booklet w/ a FP to each FP attraction in all 4 parks - so each person in the party would in sense have 1 FP to each ride for the stay - not as great as #1 but still nice.

3. Upon check in each member of your party recieves 5 FP's good at any attraction w/FP at any of the parks for each day of your stay - so if you stay 5 nights thats 6 days so each person would get 30 "anytime/anyplace" Fastpasses.

Disney is good at using their imagination - so I am sure they could come up with some sort of system?

So.....

How many other DVCer's think this is a reasonable idea?

Reasonable? Yes - they could do it.

Would I like it? Heck yeah!

Will they do it? Probably not. Although it would be a low (no?) cost DVC perk, it's always seemed to me that Disney doesn't want to tinker too much with the egalitarian nature of the rides and attractions at a theme park. Yes, it's expensive to get in, expensive to eat there, expensive to stay on-site (more expensive to buy into DVC); but once you're in and going on rides, almost everyone has to wait in the same lines and has the same access to FastPass. (I know about EMH, but that's something extra given on-siters that doesn't decrease the experience for non-on-siters).

On top of that, I can already hear the screams of indignation from 1) AP holders (who also "spend a lot of money at WDW") and 2) all on-site guests ( who "pay a lot more than off-site folks") who feel that they, too, should be rewarded with FastPassPlus (FPP). So now, what, one-third to one-half the park is in the FP line?

Be well!

It's been discussed more than a few times here in the past, and I think everyone is universally in favor of it.

The problem (IMO) comes when you try to determine a benefit to Disney. Distasteful as it may sound, economics are front and center in any consideration of DVC perks. With something like the AP discount, Disney clearly aims to sway more members to buy APs and thus spend more days in the parks (paying for food, souvenirs, etc.)

But what is the incentive to Disney for granting front of the line access? I'm hard pressed to think that it would be the "tipping factor" that finally convinces someone to buy into DVC.

I also think Disney has to worry about the perception of creating different classes of Disney guest--particularly when the buy-in point is so high. Most folks wanting to visit Universal Studios could probably squeeze enough out of their budget to splurge on a US/IOA resort if that FOTL access were THAT important. But you can't say the same of coming up with $15k for DVC.

Emotionally, I'm all for it. Logically, it seems unlikely to happen.

Although I think it would be great for ME I doubt Disney would ever do that. On the flip side, DVC members have already paid and are somewhat of a captive audience. Disney would probably rather give this to customers who pay cash for the full rack rate at a deluxe hotel. This would be more money in their pocket. Also, Disney is trying to avoid class systems and instead offers Fastpasses to anyone. When used by everyone it gives us all a fair chance to get on the rides.

P.S. I also sometimes pay for a room at Universal for that very reason but at other times hate the fact that their is no fastpass to use when I don't stay on property. I feel like a second hand citizen when I have to wait and have no options.

I wish they would give front of the line privileges with their VIP tours!! I thought about paying for one but we'd have to wait in ride lines and who wants to pay extra for VIP and waste the time waiting in lines??

If they don't have that perk for the tours why should they give it to DVC members?

Keep in mind that DVC and Disney do not profit from annual dues.

They don't seem to be having any problems selling DVC so why would they want to offer this and have non-member guests feel like second class citizens.

I'd love for it to happen but doubt it will.

In response for the posting that said that most DVC'ers are universally for the FP perk - I'm not. I could go on for hours about this - but lets simplify. Family of 4 scrimps and saves on small salary to go to the parks for the first and probably only time in their childhoods. Can't afford anything but maybe the All Stars, or offsite, and can only stay for 4 days. So then the kids get to watch all of the DVC people or AP holders walk right on ahead of them? Once in the parks - which is hard to do for a lot of poeple - everyone should be on equal ground. We all have the opportunity to get FP's, and the system works great. It actually is a point of contention for me that Universal has front of line privledges for people who can pay out the ear for one of their hotel rooms. And since they've done that - we haven't gone. We all pay park admission, and we should all get the same park experience. That's my take anyway!

While I'm certain that Disney is well aware of this - that's why I mentioned it in my response - I'm not sure that I agree with the situation you describe. You've drawn one line in the sand - "once you're in the parks" - but there are many others. Think of the even poorer folks who can only make it to a regional amusement park, or to a weekend "festival" in a strip mall parking lot, or who never make it to a carnival at all. Then there are those lucky folks who are staying at the Contemporary Tower while the poorer folks staying offsite ride through it on the monorail. And even once you're in the parks, those with more money are certainly going to get more / better souvenirs and food than those with less.

Let's be honest: a WDW visit is an expensive proposition, and there are many different levels of access and enjoyment available based on $$$. And I just see a DVC-FP perk as any more or less unfair than any other.

What will always continue to amaze me is people standing in line who don't have a clue what a fast pass is!!! (we tried to give some away on our last trip and you would have thought we were offering dead rats or something. Finally someone took them - and they were waiting in an hour long Peter Pan line and the Fast pases were good RIGHT THEN!)

I would love some sort of FOTL privlidge. Even just one round of Fast Passes per guest would make me feel even more special and would cost them nothing except for printing them up (which I am sure would be added back into our annual dues somewhere). I do see both sides of this, but tend to agree with most here that there are no benefits to Disney, so I don't see it happening.

True, but their lack of knowledge is our gain.

I think if Disney rolls out the FOTL, it would be for concierge guests or maybe newlyweds who get married at Disney (who probably are also responsible for bringing added revenue to Disney with their guest).

They would have to keep this perk very limited or else the FP line would be longer than stand by.
