I'll be traveling with a good sized group, but will be the only person with an AP. I just have a voucher at this point so need to get it activated when we arrive. We're not arriving until mid-afternoon so everyone was just going to hang out and explore the resort. No one else in the party will have park tickets for that day. I figure that since I'll have the AP, I may take advantage of that and sneak into the MK for an hour or two after getting it activated (depending on how long the line takes at GS). I don't want to stay too long as I don't want to delay dinner. Assuming use of a fast pass or two, what are some good ways to spend a very short amount of time solo in the MK?

I tend to park hop, so it is not unusual for me to only spend 1 hour, or less, in a park. Usually I have something specific I want to do, but normally it is not planned ahead, unless it is a FP. I might stop in for a snack or to see a parade/show or even a shop I want to pick something up. If there are attractions that normally do not have long waits, I might hit a couple of those.

Basically between attractions and shops, or even the parade or a show, you can easily eat up an hour just with going from place to place inside the parks.

Basically,

Since you only have the voucher you need to go to Guest Relations and get the actual AP. Keep in mind depending on the day that can take some time...................just so ya know. We were in line for 90 minutes o_O

You were in line at guest relations for 90 minutes!!! I would not have been happy.:mad:

So, if I had an hour to spend at MK I'd ride Splash Mountain, then Big Thunder and Haunted Mansion on the way out. But you'd need fastpasses for those. If you can't get FP I'd try Philharmagic and Laugh Floor.

Ok..............let me clarify my statement about 90 minutes at Guest relations. I was at Guest Relations for 90 min total. In line probably 45 minutes..........and at the window for another 45. There was a computer problem and a new CM was being trained at the time. So I apologize if my statement was misleading...............hey we did get a couple of free FP's for our trouble..............so we left happy :)

You could have gone to any ticket window. Harder to do at mk since they are at ttc and mot park entrance.

Ive also never seen a 90 minute line unless something happened like rain and people trying to get free stuff or refunds.

Mid afternoon itll be 10ish mins at mk outside the park.

An hour...
I'd go and walk down Main Street, grab a snack or coffee/drink.. take in the sights, sounds and Aromas.. Gaze at that Beautiful Castle and think.. "gee what a great day!"
Enjoy!!pixiedust:

I don't know how long you and your group are travelling, but if you have limited time, maybe use that hour to do your personal favorite(s), in case you don't get to them when you go in as a group. I've been with groups a couple of times and it seems that (1) it takes longer to do anything with a group so we never get as much done as we thought we would, and (2) I defer to the general consensus on what to see/ride/do, so often we don't get to what I would personally choose. So if you have a stand-out favorite, I'd do that one. I'd also say don't bother with anything you have FP+ for with the group later, since you'll ride it then. Basically, I'd do whatever you think you won't be doing with the group. If your group will want to ride commando, maybe take the time to shop or stroll or see Mickey or whatever.

I'd go on Splash and Big thunder, then ride the train back round to Main Street :)

I'd activate my AP and then see what FP is available for 1 at that time and go from there. Ideally (for me), I'd walk down Main Street; ride Haunted Mansion; ride Splash Mountain; Take the train to the front of the park; and head back to the resort. Maybe grab a Dole Whip float if the line wasn't too long.

I'd definitely ride Haunted Mansion since that is my favorite. If I was able to get a FP, I would probably also try to ride Splash Mtn.

This was during Jersey week and it was what it was.............maybe an anomaly. Again didn't wait in line per se for 90 minutes but the entire adventure lasted 90 mins.

We have sometimes gone for just an hour or two when we arrived late in the day. Just taking a walk up Main Street, getting a castle photo, having a snack and enjoying the atmosphere is enough to make us happy on a very short visit like you would potentially have. Depending on your timing, maybe you could just watch the afternoon parade and have a picture with talking Mickey. Whatever one thing would make you feel like "ahhh...I'm at Disney!" would be perfect.

And I think it's very smart of you to get your AP activated ahead of time solo so that you aren't making everyone else in your party feel like they have to wait for you to do it.

Thank you all for the great suggestions! Hopefully the line won't be too bad, but better to wait then rather than force my DH and kiddos to wait for me the next morning. We will be there for a solid week so lots of opportunities to do a lot of stuff, but the group is full of small children so having the opportunity to wander for a bit on my own will be a treat. Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride too and none of the kids like it so that will definitely be on the agenda. I also love the idea of taking in the afternoon parade if the timing works. I am really leaning towards riding HM and then just sort of strolling around and soaking it all in since the rest of the week will definitely be go-go-go!
