Intro:
Well, I'm not always the smartest or most organized mouse in the hole. I say that, because my original plan was to just keep typing away this trip report in MS WORD and then post it all in one thread at the end of our trip. But, for as much as I love a good, long read, I suppose others can be overwhelmed by it. Since I wanted it to be a memento for us (as well as an informative read for all of you) I knew that I MUST write each night to capture it all perfectly. Id never be able to say what I wanted to say if I waited two weeks after our trip to write up a synopsis. How would I remember the little things? What if I wanted to re-create a sound or a smell? Or what if I wanted to capture the way a couple of strong margaritas somehow turned me into a sobbing, hysterical Daisy Duck who was left behind at Disney when all of the other ducks flew back up north for the summer? (Ha! For all of you who have had Disney dreams before their actual trip, try to top that one! Imagine waking up to THAT before you have to get up and get ready for work.)
But Im also aware of how a well-thought out attempt to post trip reports in a flowing sequential manner can backfire for those reading them at a later time. Since I am a newbie to the trip report scene, I discovered Delswifes trip reports long after theyve been posted. Before I stumbled upon a post that listed all of her reports in sequential order, I spent many a late night squinting at my laptop screen, trying to figure out which thread went with which trip report, and which one came first, and which ones I already read. Which, by the way, were the best reading Ive done in a while. She is my hero and mentor. Anywhoo... again, I feel that trip reports can be quite cumbersome sometimes. So, just when I came up with the brilliant idea to type it all as I go and then post it all at once when we get back, my dear boyfriend made it known that I must be crazy to think anyone would want to read something that was as long as a textbook. I started crying of course, and he felt badly. He tried to tell me to KISS (Keep It Short & Simple) but I refused to believe him. I loved all of the long, detailed trip reports... wouldnt other people too? I compromised by still typing it out long and detailed, but I decided I'd post as I go. (Sniff can you feel the holiday/vacation stress setting in already???)

Em Thats me!! Im a young 30s, smiley-kind-of-gal who is in love with anything magical. You know: Mickey, Christmas, the idea of winning the lotto, etc. I work very, very hard and am in need of a good, fun vacation. Im madly in love with my dear boyfriend, who will be joining me. He and I live together in a big, urban area, where it is COLD in the winter. We have a great relationship and love to laugh and have fun and travel. Were both very career driven, no kids, and have a love of movies, reading and books. Were always together, and we are truly best friends. I like him best when he is relaxed and silly (which is most of the time). Were both in sales, and the end of the year is pretty intense for both of us. How wonderful it is going to be to get away!!
Steve My boyfriend, also young 30s and very loving and supportive. He has only ever been to Disneyland, and that was back in the mid-eighties. His assumption of WDW is that its all cutesy and foo-foo and filled with crying children. Hes a happy, fun, sensitive guy, so I was kind of surprised by his perspective of WDW. I think hes been misled somewhere along the line. Ive tried to explain it to him, but he is VERY skeptical. I am so looking forward to proving him wrong. I have been to WDW and Universal Studios a couple of times, but only as a young teenager in the early nineties. However, I have never forgotten the magic of it all, and when I found out that my annual work meeting was going to be held at the Peabody on International Drive... well, it was a no-brainer to decide that this would be a perfect place to stay and vacation. But it was just a matter of convincing dear Steve... (which of course, he was all for, even if it WAS only WDW. Any vacation is a good vacation, he said). Id like to think hes in for a real treat.
