I am planning a surprise trip to WDW for my DW's 30th birthday. Right now we are scheduled to arrive late on the 4th (no park time on the 4th) and fly out late on the 8th. That would give us about 3 and a half days in the park and our flights and hotel (CSR) are basically covered with points. There is an option of flying in on the 3rd that would still give us a couple hours in the park on our arrival day, plus all of the 4th, so it essentially adds a day and half of park time.
I could change the flights for about $40, add another night at $180 and get 6 day hoppers vs 4 day which would add about $50 to our budget. I am trying to decide if the extra $270 is worth the extra day and a half...
A little background - we are traveling with our 2 year old and we've been to Disney about once a year for the past 8 years. Also, my wife will be about 4 months pregnant at the time (we live in Dallas, so we're used to the heat). I won't go as far as saying this will be the last Disney trip for a while, but it's a possibility.
