An extra day in the parks or free day?

Lol I may be in the minority here but I say do 6 days. The difference per person for 4 days to 6 days is about $32 each so around $100 for all three. I would sleep in on Sun. and only do a partial day either at HS or AK. Then you could have 2 days at MK, 2 days at Epcot. But I am not a hang out at the resort or spend time at Disney Springs kinda person. I am going for the parks!

I like the combination of a free day to stay at the resort and swim, etc, and going to the park at night. It's a nice relaxing day, and then you can hit MK at night and just do your 3 fp+, stroll around Main Street, and have a relaxing night at the park.

I say get 5 day tix.
Last year we got 4 and wanted to add one once we got there.
I tried several times to find someone at the parks to help me add the ticket to our trip without buying another day individually for the 6 of us but failed to find someone who could do it.

I'm at a loss as to how (and where) you looked for someone to upgrade your tickets, and failed.
Guests can add days to tickets at all ticket booths, and at all Guest Relations (there are Guest Relations inside and outside all parks,) and at all WDW Resort Concierge (Guest Services) at WDW.
I'm trying to understand what happened in your case.

I can't speak to this guest's experience, but I had a little trouble on a recent trip. The cast member at Animal Kingdom guest services insisted that I would have to pay an amount equal to a full-price one-day ticket. I said thanks, but no thanks, and went to Epcot where the cast member quickly and easily added a day for the correct amount.

Thanks to this board, I knew the correct amount and knew I could probably find a helpful cast member at another guest services location if the first didn't work out. Thanks, Robo and everyone on the Disboards!

I tried to upgrade from 4 to 5 day tix at guest relations outside MK and inside HS. Neither CMs could do it without charging us full price park tix each, so we just gave up. We were staying off-site so I'm not sure if that was the reason. The CMs basically acted like I was crazy for asking. Whatever the case I learned my lesson and went ahead with buying the extra day for our next trip.

Know before you go...this is not Disneyland. You simply cannot do everything. There is simply too much there. Even if you have an unlimited budget, you could spend 2-3 months there and not do everything. Well maybe with that much time you can. As others have said plan your day off. If you need that 5th day, add it on at Guest Services at the park. It will just be the delta due from the 5-day pass.

1. That's unfortunate.
2. Nope. Has no impact on upgrading.
3. That's unfortunate that you though that. It is a very common, simple procedure.
4. I can understand your feelings, but I don't want others to assume that upgrading necessarily needs to be problematic.

Thanks for all the great advice! You brought to light so many things that I hadn't even thought about. I like how someone said, that you can play mini golf or go to any water park but there is only one WDW. That's what your here for! A couple of you also suggested to do 5 or even 6 park days, but make 1 or 2 half days. So I think that's what we'll do. Relax Sunday morning, maybe a brunch at a resort. Then in the afternoon utilize the 3 fast passes in the MK watch fireworks. Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, do full park days in each park. Then Fri. do a half day in Epcot and anything else we want to do on our last day. I think that's a good plan. I want to get the tickets in the package that way I can make the park dining reservations and fast passes ahead of time.
Thanks again for all your suggestions!
