An end to developers points?

Has anyone heard when DVC will stop the developers points incentive? My DVC person just told me "when they're gone, they're gone" -- but I wondered if anyone else had more info.

About 3 weeks ago our guide told us that the Dec. points were running low so not to delay our add-on decision for too long. He was not ominous or pushy, just stating fact.

When we talked again this past Thursday he still had Dec. points. However, he could not say when the developer points would end. I do beleive him when he says that the CMs are not usually told about an ending date for a promotion. It can be available one day and then they can move to a new promotion w/o warning.

We plan to make our decision in the next few days b/c all good things must come to an end at some point!

This REALLY is bumming me out. We have a trip to WDW on Sept 21st, and we are pretty certain that we'll be buying in then. :yay:
Unfortunately, we live in Nebraska - 1 of 2 states that DVC will NOT even talk to over the phone about DVC. I am PRAYING that developer points will still be around then...especially the double developer. Until then, I'll be praying they stay at least until we get there to purchase.

We just visited DVC yesterday and our guide gave us the impressions that the double points would be good through the end of the year.

Hope that helps

OMG, that would be so perfect b/c we would then be able to book the developer point trip for next fall.

Has anyone else had this impression from their guide????

Ohhh man, talk about a tease. :lmao: I HOPE you are right.....Sept 21st is my arrival date and we are planning on trying to get to there that day.

My guide keeps saying "probably the end of this week" but he has been saying that for several weeks now...

My guide keeps saying this as well. "They'll be gone by the weekend". This has been going on for a month now! So who really knows!:confused3 I just am trying to hold off as long as possible, because I can't really use the developers points until late next year. They expire in 12 months from the date of purchase, so I figure, the later I purchase, the later in the year I can do this. But I too worry that they'll be gone by the time I finally get around to buying!

My guide just called me...they announced an ending date of August 31. Looks like we're going to miss out :sad2: but we just can't pull the trigger that quickly.

So if I add-on next (Monday 8/20/2007) week 100 points at AKV, I will get 200 extra points that I have to use during the next year....but I can bank 100 of the original points that I receive.

And is it still 104.00 per point or can we also get the 10.00 off and the developers points??:confused3

The current offer if you add at WDW, is you can get either $8 per point off at AKV or $10 per point off at SSR, OR choose double developer points equal to double the amount of the add or new contract, with the add being 100 point minimum to qualify, and pay $104 per point.

I'll be in Orlando next week to take care of my purchase. I wanted to wait for a few months, but I want to take advantage of this offer.

Wow, Teh developer points are a nice incentive, but that should not be the reason to buy or not to buy. This is about 45 or 50 years of vacation time & the savings & the accomodations over the long haul. The incentives are nice but---!!!

For us its definitely not the REASON we will buy in, but since we are probably gonna buy in anyway within a month later, it would have been nice to get the developer points.
In all honesty,,,maybe I am making a a bigger of them too, because ANY incentive will be nice to get. Especially since we know we'll be getting in DVC anyway. I didnt mean to make it sound like it was life or death with the developer points for us. :cool2:

I know that there's no way to know this for sure, but is it likely that there will be some other incentive offered when the developer points are gone? (And do they say that the $8 or $10 off per point option will also be gone as of 8/31?)

Put another way, historically, has there "always" or "usually" been some sort of incentive offered on purchases at new DVC properties?

Good point, there will certainly be another incentive. However, this is the first time they've done double developers points (at least that's what my guide told me) and for those of us who burn through our points at lightning speed  having to pass on this incentive is painful! But we'd have to finance any addition if we did it right now, and I just can't talk the husband into that...

While purchasing a 100 pt add-on today, I asked my guide about the next promotion. It seems that (what she is hearing) they will eliminate the developer points but keep the discount. So, really no change other than losing the developer points. She does not think they will change the discount amount. However, she did state that we can always re-write the contract in the event that things change and the promo ends up better.

Anyone know the answer to this? Thanks!
