Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that

read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed

as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that

I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there

in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who

I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside.

The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as

I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was very grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the

homeless guy was very grateful for the money he did not earn,

but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn

Even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than

in practical application.

OR IS IT.........REDISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S WEALTH IS A GREAT IDEA.............

or just a fools game !!

Funny thing is, that McCains plan would take more of that waiters tips to redistribute than Obamas would.

The unfunny thing is, that Obama's plan would increase the amount that the homeless guy would get. For doing nothing.

The homeless, the people who pay zero taxes and the chronically unemployed get a great opportunity to vote themselves a raise on November 4th

You are right, stronger economy equals more persons handing the guy money.
Thanks

Do you have sources telling us how many homeless persons file income tax returns?
Just curious

How can you have a percent tax cut on 0%??? If there is no tax to begin with for them, they obviously won't be getting a cut from anything.

I love it when a plan comes together.:rotfl2:

Your right they won't get a cut they'll get a credit = welfare.

Surely you don't think that everyone that gets a tax return is paying taxes??!!! I worked for a financial services company that owned many tax preparation franchises for a few years so I'm pretty familiar with lower income tax returns.
Many, many, many lower income folks pay $0 in taxes and get back $2000, $3,000, $4000, or $5,000+ on their return depending on the number of children they have in their home.
And yes, homeless people DO file taxes. Generally speaking they don't get as much back but they do get some and they do file. I'm sure there are some that don't also but I personally talked to more than one in our last tax season alone. It's a hassle to get the money to them in a form they can use. Most don't have bank accounts so direct deposit is out, they also tend not to want a check for the same reason. Getting the money loaded on a card (like a prepaid VISA or MASTER CARD) is their favorite option in our area.

That's hysterical -- a homeless man.:rotfl: :rotfl:

I find it so interesting that people are just waking up to EIC. Obama did not event refunds of more than low income earners pay in. Earned Income Credits were implemented when Gerald Ford was in the WH and were voted on and continued through the Reagan and Bush administrations. But now it's all an evil new plot of Obama.

You are correct!

According to the following website the Obama plan would add 700 billion dollars to the Federal budget.

With McCain's plan the Federal budget would have a 600 billion dollar deficit.

Obama, McCain tax plans
June 30, 2008

John McCain's tax plans would have everybody pay a little less in taxes with the wealthiest paying a lot less. Barack Obama's plan would have a the wealthy pay a lot more and would give middle- and lower-income people bigger breaks than McCain's plans. Obama would raise income and capital gains taxes on earners over $250,000. McCain would cut the estate tax. Obama would raise it on estates over $3.5 million.

The tax plans Obama McCain
$227,000 - a year - plus $23,000 more $15,000 less
$112,000 - $227,000 (15% of population) $2,300 less $3,200 less
$66,000 - $112,000 (20% of population) $1,290 less ($500 per worker tax credit for $0 to $150,000) $1,009 less
$38,000 - $66,000 (20% of population) $1,042 less $319 less
$19,000 - $38,000 (20% of population) $892 less $113 less
$0 - $19,000 (20% of population) $567 less $19 less
Tax breaks for all: College credit: $4,000 a year per student in college Double dependent credit: from $3,500 to $7,000
Impact of tax changes on federal budget: Returns $700 billion Costs $600 billion

* Please note Numbers are estimates and averages.

That is why the top figure on the chart is $227,000 - a year ..... They are taking the average of individuals making over $200,000 and the number of families making over $250,000 a year to come with that figure.

Obama's was not to increase tax individuals making less than $200,000 or families making less than $250,000.

Also remember that the over $227,000 also includes CEO's and others whose incomes are muti millions of dollars.
Not everyone making over $227,000 will pay $23,00 more under Obamas plan and not everyone making over $227,000 will pay $15,000 less under McCain's plan.

No, it's always been evil and it's been talked about numerous times on the DIS over the years.

I see you're "new". Nice screen name!!

This is what, like the 4th time you've posted this? It's pretty much meaningless without the math behind it.

Somehow - I fail to see the humor in this "cute little story".

Perhaps you'll like this one better.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so
many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal
Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of
higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words,
redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch
Republican, a feeling she openly expressed.

Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional
chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored
an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher
taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs.

The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be
the truth and she indicated so to her father.

He asked how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and
let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was
taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which
left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew.

She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't have time for
partying with friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?'

She replied, 'Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy
classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so
popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to
all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for her
classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's
office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your
friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and
certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.'

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily
fired back, That's insane!

How could that be fair???

I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time,
and a lot of hard work!

Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I
worked my tail off!'

The father sheepishly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the
Republican party.'
