An attempted scam

I'm not a scam expert by any means but I'm 99% sure this fellow attempted one today check it out, and then check out FBI.gov (there's a scam risk test there) to make sure anything large ticket item you have for sale on the web doesn't prompt such replies.

I've been trying to sell my old car on Craigslist for sometime, but everytime I think I have a bite they either don't show or find another car closer to them.

Today I got a simple question about my car, to which I replied in detail about the condition. Then I get the following email back:

Greetings,

Everything sounds well concerning the vehicle and i am okay with the prize $849 and I will be offering you $1000 for it so that you will keep other buyer's off.Concerning payment,if you will accept payment with Money order as it's the only way i can pay you at the moment. For a convinient and easy shipping,I will let you know how i intend to pick it up.I will therefore need the following information of yours to send you the Money Order.

I would have loved to come take a look at it but i am presently out of town,

soonest reply.

Please note this email has red flags all over it. The language, out of town, will send MORE than the asking price, money order (verses the cash I ask for in my listing)

My reply:

Hi **** ******,

I'm sorry to say I can only accept $849 in cash.
According to my banking institution (and the FBI) your
offer falls into the high risk category.

If the car is still available when you are back in
town I invite you to come look at it - you have my
phone number.

Hmmm - no reply back. Why could that be? :confused3
