An Anniversary Trip Full of Favorites-May 2012 PTR!*TR Link 5/14 & Question 5/15 p32*

Jen - you crack me up! :rotfl: Do you really think you will make it the next two months without a change????? :rotfl:

Haha, I know, I have problems! :rotfl: I always think about changing, but I really want to be at the Beach Club, so I don't think I'll actually switch!

I do want to stay at the Poly though. But the Beach Club just seems better for this trip! :thumbsup2 Maybe if I win the lottery, we can stay there in October!

Wow I can't believe you only have 4 ADRs! That's actually REALLY nice not to have to rush from one place to another...just take your time and enjoy yourselves. When we go back next year for F & W, I am not making ANY ADRs for one whole day just so we can eat at a bunch of the booths. There is always so much to eat and we hardly get to try any of it because I make lunch or dinner ADRs! It feels so WEIRD to not have ADRs!

Looks like you picked out some nice restaurants! Too bad I haven't been to any of them... yeah, I know, I'm such a fail of a DISer :P But they all seem like good choices! :thumbsup2 I've always wanted to go to Le Cellier or the California Grill since I first came on here. They both look like great places and Cape May... might have to take note of it, depending on the resort of choice I may have for my next trip! ;)

Well, now I have 5! I added a Cape May breakfast ADR which we may or may not keep, I just wanted to have it, in case!

Yeah, I don't want to waste a lot of time eating on this trip since it's so short, but at the same time, I can't skip TS restaurants all together! I think the way I have this trip planned out it will be a nice balance of resting and running around!

There were a few times we didn't make ADR's last year at the F&W festival just so we could eat at the booths and we STILL didn't try everything we wanted! :rotfl:

Thanks! Haha, don't worry, you have plenty of time to go to Disney in your life and try all of the amazing restaurants! When you go to Le Cellier, you might actually die of happiness, it's THAT good! :cloud9: Cape May is amazing too, there's something for everyone there! And hello, Oreo bonbons for dessert? Yum! :thumbsup2

Great dining plans! I love the food at Cape May and it is so convenient to eat there when you are staying at the Beach Club. Le Cellier is a favorite! We enjoyed Mama Melrose a few years ago. Haven't tried Cali, but I hear lots of raves.

Good strategy to make the reservation at Cape May for breakfast. The character interaction is really good. But if you decide to cancel last minute, you should have no problem getting into Captain's Grille without reservations- either for the buffet or the a la carte breakfast.

Yay, you're here! :thumbsup2

I can't wait for the Beach Club! :lovestruc Haha, no Captain's Grille yet, but I will think about it! I think the breakfast there sounds really good, and cinnamon maple butter? Yum! I've only been there for dinner and we really liked it, but for some reason, we haven't been back! :confused3

Ugh, yeah, the signatures are so expensive, I'm not sure how I'm gonna divide up our TS credits, considering we have 4 credits and with CA Grill being 2, we'll need 5...somewhere will have to be OOP, I'm guessing Cape May, since it's a flat rate for the buffet, but maybe Le Cellier since it's lunch? Although we do like to drink at Le Cellier...I don't know! :rotfl2: Why am I talking about this?

I can't believe they are refurb-ing CA Grill! I hope it stays the same, it seems like a lot of people will be disappointed if it changes!

Boo dining credits. I liked getting the dining plan for free, but wrangling dining credits was definitely my least favorite part (actually, I guess paying for the dining plan would be up there as 'least favorite part' too)! I've been trying to sell my boyfriend on Tables in Wonderland, but I don't think he gets the concept? The whole 'paying for snacks' is hard thing to accept! The buffets always seem really overpriced to me and you have to pay that price, so I'd probably do Le Cellier OOP. I usually don't eat all of an app/entree/dessert and am prone to splitting things so (for me) it'd be easier to keep the costs reasonable?

Thanks! I'm so excited to be at the Beach Club, and so close to Cape May! :cool1: I can't wait to go back to Le Cellier and Mama Melrose's, and I'm so excited to finally try CA Grill, I've wanted to for a while!

Now that I have an ADR for Cape May for breakfast, I'm pretty happy about it! The characters look really cute, although I'm really just going there to eat, it will be cute to see them! Captain's Grille will be a nice option if we want to go there one morning and don't have an ADR, I'm sure it won't be so packed that we can't get it, their breakfast looks great too!

Free dining is always nice, but paying for food OOP is SO hard for us! We did it in December and were both like "never again!" It's nice to have it all prepaid for. Except for all the alcohol. And appetizers, if we get them. They should just have a super dining plan that includes alcohol and appetizers.

I tried to talk Brandon into a TiW card in December, but he didn't get it either, so I didn't bother with it.

See, I feel like paying for a buffet is better than paying for regular meal, because you pay a flat rate, and you don't have to add anything else on...it could be dangerous at Le Cellier for us...Brandon tends to drink a lot there, sometimes he gets 2 appetizers, I have to get the soup, then there are the entrees and desserts!

Maybe we can pay for Mama Melrose's? :confused3 CA Grill might be too expensive, I'm guessing...if only we had one extra credit! Although, I guess I need 2, because I added Cape May for breakfast too!

YAY BEACH CLUB!! I am a little late to the party here :rotfl:
I am so excited for you guys, the pool there is so amazing :goodvibes

All of your ADRs sound amazing too, I have never tried Cali Grill, cant wait to hear about it!! it sounds awesome

Great ADR choices, Jen! I've never been to any of them lol But California Grill and Cape May sound like great places, even if you are missing out on 'Ohana which seems like a favorite of yours. And I don't think you can ever go wrong with Le Cellier. ;)

If you are thinking of adding a breakfast, I would definitely go with Crystal Palace, absolutely love it there and for BREAKFAST! Empty main street, always a plus ::yes::

Good ADR plans. Sounds like you figured out your breakfast, but if you need another option, I second the Kouzzina recommendation. It's one of our favorites (love the turkey-sweet potato hash!) and it's cheap and easy to get into (was nearly empty both times we went). And I didn't find the food particularly strange, but it depends on your tastes. It seems like it's mostly pretty normal stuff with some little Greek touches thrown in. Oh, and the feta scrambled eggs were really good too.

We've been to CA Grill a couple times to celebrate our anniversary. It is a good place to do so (make sure you have the anniversary on your reservation). They have done Mickey-head confetti and free champagne for us. I had heard that the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli appetizer was a specialty, so we got that once and really enjoyed it. I don't see it on the menu right now, but we've been there when they have scallops (seasonal, I think) and Dug LOVES them! The Valrhona Chocolate Cake is delicious. The accompaniments have changed flavors on us, but both times were heavenly! So hungry now, must eat dinner...

Alright, I'm all caught up with the plans! I am so excited that you're staying at the BC! I know that is a special place for you guys. :cloud9: I'm also excited that two out of my three guesses were in your resort reveal post. ;)

Great ADRs! I think you are going to LOVE Cali Grill. We ate there for the first time on our family trip and it was our favorite meal of the trip. In fact, it was so good that my father (who has eaten at great restaurants all around the world) said it was possibly his favorite dish ever! :thumbsup2 I had the filet and my dad had the pork tenderloin and they were both amazing. Apparently, they are both the signature dishes, so even though the other entrees change, they are always on the menu. I don't think you could go wrong with either one!

Yay, glad you're here, don't worry, you're not late! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to be at the Beach Club! I am totally taking advantage of that pool this time!

I'm so excited for Cali Grill! :woohoo:

Thanks! I'm sad to be missing 'Ohana, but I suppose it is Brandon's trip too! :rotfl:

I love Crystal Palace, but I actually made an ADR at Cape May for our last morning! I've wanted to try it for a while, and now since we'll already be at the BC, I have no excuse not to! I'll definitely be going back to CP in the Fall, though!

Thanks! Kouzzina makes me so nervous! It just seems so exotic to me! I know Brandon would like it, he's not picky at all, but I am! Even though I'm sure breakfast is pretty straightforward, I don't know...something about it scares me! :rotfl:

I think I have that it is our anniversary on our reservation, but I don't really expect anything! ( I do love that Mickey confetti, though!) I was thinking of possibly ordering a cake, but then I thought, if I get a cake, I'll miss their dessert, and their desserts look amazing!! :cool1:

I can't wait to stay at the BC! :lovestruc I would love to try the Boardwalk or YC someday, but it just seemed appropriate, staying at our Disneymoon resort on our anniversary trip!

I'm so glad you liked Cali Grill! I'm so excited to eat there! Everyone raves about it, so I'm thinking it must be good! I'm definitely thinking whatever I eat there will be between the pork and the filet, they both sound soooo good! Maybe I'll get one and Brandon can get the other? Although I think he's going to be stuffing himself with sushi! :rotfl2:

A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
It's crystal clear
that now I'm in a whole new world with you

Hi everyone! I just realized I have only 8 weeks til my trip, so I gotta get going on this PTR! I'm going to start doing my day by day plans now, although I'm trying to leave this trip a little unplanned so we have time to do whatever we want, and so we have pool time, something I never really schedule in, and we end up skipping it all together!

(Before I start, though...has everyone seen the new Royal Guest rooms at Port Orleans Riverside that are now open?

If not, check out this video:

Royal Guest Rooms

Aren't they SOOO beautiful??? If we take our Fall trip this year, I will definitely be staying in one of those! I love the headboards with the fireworks! :lovestruc)

Ok anyway, moving on!

Day 1 Plans!

Our flight to Orlando is early...I can't remember off the top of my head how early, but I want to say 6 am? 6:30 maybe? Poor Brandon has to work Friday night til 11, won't get home til 11:30 and we'll need to leave for the airport by like, 3, so he won't be getting much sleep. I'm thinking of being nice and driving to the airport so he can at least sleep on the way there, it's like a 45 minute drive (although with me driving, it could take up to an hour :rotfl:)!

We should arrive in Orlando around 9-9:30 am and from there, we will grab our luggage and go get our rental car! I'm hoping prices drop soon, because they are crazy right now...there's no way I'm paying over $200 for a 5 day rental! :scared1: If I had my way, we'd skip the rental all together and do Magical Express for the first time and use the buses/monorail or walk, but Brandon doesn't want to. Although he thinks we're staying at CBR. He might change his mind if I tell him about BC, but I don't want to ruin the surprise!

When we have our car, we'll most likely go to Downtown Disney to stop at Earl of Sandwich like we always do and hope the line isn't too long!

I'm hoping I can hold out until now to tell Brandon we're staying at the Beach Club, I'd like to not tell him until we are on our way to the resort, but who knows if he will figure it out before then? I really have to start talking about CBR soon, so he really gets it in his head that we're staying there!

beachclub2.jpg

We will check into the Beach Club and hope our room is ready, because we will be tired and ready for a shower by then! We've had good luck with our rooms being ready when we get there, but I'm hoping for a full balcony, so if they tell us we have a room with a standing balcony, I might want to wait for one!

If our room is not ready, we might go over to Animal Kingdom for a little while

IMG_1608.jpg

and do a couple of our favorites-Expedition Everest, the Safari...I actually don't have any definite time planned for AK at all! There's a chance if our room is ready we might skip it on this trip! We'll see!

If we go to AK, it will only be for a couple of hours until hopefully our room is ready, so we can rest and shower and all that!

We have an early dinner ADR at Cape May Cafe

disneybeachclubcapemaycafe01.jpg

which will be fun, and then it will be off to Epcot for the night!

4305644726_46f0cb6216_o-488x325.jpg

(Ok, I just realized we will be coming in through the International Gateway so we won't see the Fountain, but still, pretty picture isn't it? :))

Since it's Cinco de Mayo, we'll probably do what everyone else in Epcot is doing and head over to Mexico for one of these

tequila-varieties-300x199.jpg

and then maybe try to catch a few attractions-Maelstrom, Soarin, whatever doesn't have a long wait!

At the end of the night, I'll have to watch my favorite, Illuminations

3129362359_f507c7710f.jpg

I'd like to try to find a good spot near the exit so we can get back to the Beach Club quickly. Why? Well I'm guessing by then we might be hungry, and I thought it would be kind of cool if we tried to go to

DisneyWorldKitchenSink019.jpg

Beaches and Cream! I've heard it can get busy after Illuminations, so this is not definite, but I am absolutely going there at some point on this trip! And we have this habit of running over to DTD right before it closes to get sandwiches from EoS, so if we can't get into Beaches and Cream, maybe we'll go to Earl for our second sandwich of the day!

Or maybe we'll skip all that and go to bed! I have an early morning planned for the next day, and I'm sure we will be exhausted! :cool1:

54 days til I'm back in Disney! Stay tuned for Day 2 plans! :woohoo:

Great first day plans! :thumbsup2 Checking into Beach Club and going to Cape May sounds like our first day plans!

Hopefully you can squeeze in AK for a couple of hours so you don't have to skip it entirely!

That sounds like a perfect way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! :jester: I don't know why I chose a jester smiley... I was looking for something that looked like he was going to a party! :rotfl:

Ahh I am so excited about going to Beaches and Cream! John and are already planning to go there an get the kitchen sink! We're so excited!

Can't wait to hear more plans! I can't believe how close your trip is! We're still 118 days away!

Great first day plans. Just reading about your check-in at Beach Club makes me second guess my resort choice. I do love being at the Beach/Yacht Club. :)

oooohhh! your first day plans sound SOOO good :thumbsup2 I hate that our travel days are sooo long that we can't enjoy any disney magic until the next day :sad1: but we are used to it. I guess what makes upf or that is that we are staying 19 days this time!! so i can't complain too much but your first day just sounds so magical!!! and yes those rooms are POR are SO gorgeous!!! wow!

FIRST DAY! Aren't the first days just the BEST? Ugh, I'm still so jealous you're staying at Beach Club! What a beaut.

I hope your rental car prices go down! I also hope you get to experience Magical Express some day, though. It's fun stuff. ::yes::

Um yes you need to go to Beaches and Cream. It's a DELIGHT! :thumbsup2

Yeah, it was SO NICE when we got our $150+ bill for Kouzzina and we didn't have to pay anything. I love booking the packages because you don't have to see the daily room rate if you don't want to, so you can stay blissfully in the dark about your room costs! Or food, with the dining plan. I wish there was a build your own dining plan, because I'd totally load up on snacks. Once we remembered that they were available, we went through ours so fast because I like having small meals through out the day. It would probably be really complicated in regards to pricing, though...

I showed him how we saved ~20% with the dining plan, so TiW should be a good fit for us, especially since we didn't do any alcohol with the dining plan, but it still hasn't sunk in. I just really really like the name 'Tables in Wonderland' so one day I will get the card! :rotfl:

Too many choices! I'd probably just sit down and ballpark the costs of all the restaurants (even though I HATE doing that, because then I feel like I have to spend that much or more/less (depending if it's DDP or OOP) when ordering) and then just find the most/least expensive. Or keep waffling over the decision until we actually sit down and eat the meal! ;) (edit: heh, obvious solution! Put buffets last and see if the costs of the other restaurants are more/less than the fixed costs of the buffets!)

Ok anyway, moving on!

I love the Royal Guest Rooms - I like how they took the design of the other Riverside rooms and then upgraded them to be all fancy-schmancy. It ties in nicely with the rest of the resort! And fiber optic headboards are always nice! Though I can't help wondering what will happen when the bulbs start to go dead. Maybe they won't? Maybe housekeeping will have to start checking headboards as part of the daily cleaning routine? :rotfl:

Ooooh, maybe you can say that cheaper car rentals start the second day? And then never talk about it ever again after getting to Beach Club? Honestly, with Epcot and MGM so close (and most of the ADRs! And maybe MK if you worked it into half days with Epcot and used the monorail? Okay, that's a bit of a stretch!) it really doesn't seem worth it to get the car. How much would it realistically get used?

But I have heard the buses from Beach Club are bad, so it might be a good idea to have a car anyway. Especially for last minute Earl of Sandwich visits!

Your trip will be here before you know it!

Keeping my fingers crossed you can hold off telling Brandon about BC... it'll be a nice surprise! :goodvibes

I agree about the new POR Royal rooms...was just looking at them...so nice!

You get there so early on your travel day. Very cool that you should be able to get a good amount of park and resort time in that day. And Beaches and Cream is a must-do at some point! I could use a nice cheeseburger and a No Way Jose...
