We've been in Orlando since 9th August and still have a week left. I promised that I would be making live TR's but I have failed! We've been so busy and lucky to hit our beds by 11 o'clock!
Today we're chilling a little bit and I've just woken myself up a bit (it was nearly 2am this morning when I finally went to bed - I was watching a film!).
Today we were up and out early as the children had a Pirate Adventure cruise sailing from the Grand Floridian. They had a great time and it was nice for DH and I to have a couple of hours to relax by ourselves. We're back at the villa now - the children are in the pool, I had a nap on the sofa and DH is reading - and later we're going to Manny's for dinner. Looking forward to it as, after reading about it on here, I've been desparate to try it.
This is our 4th trip and we've done some different things this time (different for us anyway). We've ventured away from breakfast at Sizzler's and tried Golden Corral too. We've also eaten at Cracker Barrel and Denny's for the first time. Still on our 'to eat at' list is Sweet Tomatoes and DH is keen for a steakhouse meal too. I've cooked a couple of times at the villa (burnt the pizza but we managed to salvage enough to fill us up!). We ended up doing 2 days at KSC as we got very hot, tired, hungry and grumpy on our original day there!
We've still got lots of parks to cram in for our final week - HS and AK need a first visit, IOA needs a second visit to get to WWoHP (our initial visit got rained off a couple of hours earlier than planned, and boy did it rain that night). We've got another visit to MK planned for next Saturday (got a CP ADR early and then a few rides that we haven't yet managed). We nipped in yesterday after shopping and saw the Spectro Magic parade and fireworks so we don't have to do another all day visit. Tomorrow we've got a Fantasmic package booked (fingers crossed for the weather). We went to the first DIS meet at OKW on our 2nd day here and are still planning on going to the second meet at the Polynesian on Friday. It was great seeing people and putting some more faces to names and the Karaokee was such a laugh! We met Wayne briefly at Epcot too! We also met up with a friend from home (there DS and our DS are in the same class at school).
Not too sure about the weather at the moment - there are lots of warnings in place about hurricane Irene. I think I should feel more worried than I do but there's not a lot you can do about it. It could be another 'first' for us as we've never been here during a hurricane either!
Shopping has been fun and I've picked up some great craft bargains (those in the know will understand when I say Nestabilities for just £10)
One of our best days was spent at the Orlando Science Center - so much to do there and worth a visit, especially if you have school age children (ours are 10 and 7 and had a brilliant time).
We're also playing license plate bingo - we wrote out all the states and look for license plates from each one. I was so excited when we found a Hawaii one as I really didn't expect to (it was at the science center so maybe another reason why we liked that place so much!). Today's best finds have been Utah and Alaska - we've got around 10 left. A great game to play whilst driving and, especially as you're walking through car parks!
Best news of the holiday though came at the end of our frist week when DH received confirmation of a job offer! He starts on 5th September (we land back at Gatwick on 31st August) and he's been offered a good package.
We had to fax his signed contract to them and, if anyone is interested, there is a very nice internet cafe on the H27, near to Cagan Crossings. We've printed off some coupons as well as sent DH's contract. DH said when he sent his contract there were complimentary donuts on offer too!
I will do a proper TR when we get back (one with photos, which always make it more interesting) but I've been feeling bad about neglecting you all and not sharing our Florida Fix.
