An almost-girly trip ~ February 2009 TR!

great updates. We were at HS that day also. Fast passed ToyStory right away. That was a blast!! Got to do it twice on our trip and both times it stopped, and they let you target shoot (without adding points to your score). Both times my husband and I had sore arms from pulling the trigger thingy (yeah, the vocab is rolling this AM:confused3 ). Tons more fun than Buzz. ToT and RR were walk ons that AM. My little one loved ToT two yrs ago, but was, In his own words "too freaked out" by the lightning part to do it twice in a row:sad1: . Didn't realize the parade was that day, but it was a good thing, as everyone must have been waiting and no one on the rides:cool1: . Keep the updates rolling. Also sad we didn't meet up. Maybe next time.

I can't believe you were there that day! If we go at the same time again, we will definitely have to meet up. I do think that it was a good time for us to go, because you're right, it seemed like everyone was there for the parade. 70 minutes is a long wait, but I've read about much longer wait times. Were they lining up for the parade when you got there, too?

Great update! Clearly I missed two updates...:scared1: but I am all caught up now....that almond pretzel looks pretty good, although I am not typically a nutty person. (heh, yes, I did that on purpose ;) )

That's okay -- I finally posted in yours because I missed a couple too.

:lmao: I didn't even think to phrase it that way when I was typing it up -- good job!

My work was nuts today, because the weather people said that dreaded word -- snow -- and, of course, people have to come out and stock up. I've been hearing many, many different things, but the general consensus is that it's going to be a good amount. Possibly more than a foot. This is after all the snow that was banked on the side of the street and on the sidewalks has melted, naturally. The only way I will be okay with this is if they cancel classes on Monday. :)

So, I decided to do an update, so I can pretend that I am somewhere that it doesn't snow, unless some freak of nature happens, and it's sunny and in the 80's.

Day 3, part 1 -- Friday, February 13. Opening MK!

Mom, Kailyn, and I were all up bright and early so that we could hit Magic Kingdom. We missed the opening show, but we got there just a few minutes after 9 AM.

The first glimpse of the castle!

No one in front of the castle?!

I'm going to blame it on morning brain, but for some reason, none of us thought to go to Toontown right away to meet the fairies. My mom and I really, really wanted to meet Tink, but it unfortunately didn't happen this trip. Oh well, next time, right?

We decided to hit Liberty Square and Frontierland first, since we wanted to ride Haunted Mansion, Splash, and Big Thunder. Kailyn was hungry and wanted to get something to eat, so I got their cards and headed to Frontierland to get FP's for Splash Mountain.

Some (non) crowd pictures.

I got the FP's, and this is what I saw when I was walking back to the Liberty Square area to meet my mom and Kailyn.

We went over to Haunted Mansion. It was pretty much a walk-on.

n505059094_1349487_9996.jpg

I LOVE Haunted Mansion. Love it. I know it's supposed to be funny-scary, not scary-scary, but I am naturally a jumpy person. Even when I knew that there was something about to pop up from behind a gravestone (because I had my eyes on it), I would jump and let out an "OHMYGOD!" every single time, which, in turn, scared Kailyn, who had the pleasure of riding with me. So, every time I would get scared, she would also get scared. :lmao:

Kailyn was also unhappy with me after the part with the hitchhiking ghosts, because our ghost had what looked like dreadlocks. She said, "awww, he has hair like Jason Castro!" (American Idol finalist from last season), and I, not thinking of what I was saying, immediately blurted out, "awww, it's a dead Jason Castro!"

"OH MY GOD! THAT IS SO MEAN! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU SAID THAT!"

The second we got off and were walking out, Kailyn was telling the story to my mother. I can't remember what she said, but she probably just laughed at me. After that day, the dreadlocked ghost was officially dubbed, even though Kailyn made sure to tell me that she still couldn't believe I said that. You'd think she'd know me after 16 years.

After that, we headed over here:

n505059094_1349488_432.jpg

I had the brilliant idea of trying to take pictures of Kailyn and on the ride, since my camera has a wrist strap. I had a very hard time getting Kailyn in any pictures when we were moving, though.

n505059094_1349517_8282.jpg

My camera sometimes has a little delay, and I was asking, "why isn't it taking?," just as it flashed.

n505059094_1349518_8522.jpg

Afterwards, we headed over to Splash Mountain, another absolute favorite of mine.

After that, we ran in to...

n505059094_1349525_259.jpg

I love Goofy!

I told Kailyn that I had seen Donald on my earlier walk through Frontierland to get FP's ("awww, I love Donald!"), so we went to find him.

n505059094_1349527_527.jpg

Up next -- Mickey's Philhar-Magic, the wait for the fairies is how long?, and Dad gets to join us!

Wow! I've never seen MK so empty before. You could have done cart wheels down the street and not hit anyone. :rotfl:

I wish you had decided to go to the fairies...:sad1:

I'd be afraid to loose my camera on rides, the strap should make it safer. ;)

Cute pics of Goofy & Donald. Why have I never seen them in those clothes before? :thumbsup2

We had rain yesterday that turned into freezing rain last night. It took me about 15 mins to defrost my car window enough that I could scrape at the thick layer of ice. :headache: I was cold and not in the mood at 10pm last night to deal with it. My boss is in Florida for the weekend, I am soo jealous. I wish I had that kind of $$$ to just go for a weekend. Only I wouldn't go to golf, I would go to Disney. :rotfl2: He said it would be about 85 degrees. So jealous! :rotfl2:

Good pictures! We need to see Goofy and Donald in their frontier outfits.

Being in Magic Kingdom on Friday the 13th was good luck!

We're supposed to be getting one inch of snow tonight. :)

Love the empty Frontierland and Liberty Square pics -- it looks so peaceful and quiet!

We are supposed to get one inch of snow tomorrow. I stocked up on my bread and milk just in case. ;)

Great update. We were also there on Friday at opening, except it was my Birthday:yay: and I had to stand in line for 30 mins to get my birthday gift card:confused3 The crowds were sooooo light. We walked on to space mtn 4 times in a row (not good for mom first thing in the morning:sick: ) I didn't get to see the updated Haunted mansion, as my DS5 was still reeling and freaking out from TOT. You are too funny. My DH and DS9 said it was pretty cool. We opted for the train since DS5 loves trains. Keep up the updates. I keep checking for us in the background of your pics

I soooo wanted to go see the fairies, but we all just totally forgot about going straight there, so by the time we did get over there, it was a 75 minute wait. :sad2: Looking back, I guess that 75 minutes wasn't horrendous -- it was a long time to wait, and we just didn't want to waste all that time, but I've read about much longer waits.

I loved their outfits! I hadn't seen them in that gear before either and it was really cute.

I HATE the freezing rain, and I hate when it gets all icy like that. Right now, there's not a lot of snow, and it's the light and fluffy snow. I went to get coffee earlier, and it wasn't accumulated on any of my side windows at all, and I just turned on the front and back wipers and it all wiped away easily. I've heard that we're supposed to get a few inches between now and the afternoon, and then tonight into tomorrow morning is supposed to be the worst. Usually, when they cancel my school, they cancel it for the day -- they don't cancel just day classes or just night classes. I am so hoping for a snow day.

Good pictures! We need to see Goofy and Donald in their frontier outfits.

Those outfits were so cute!

It was awesome luck. I think that we definitely lucked out by deciding to not go for the morning EMH the day before, because I'm not sure it would have been THAT nice and slow.

Want some of our snow? :rotfl2:

I loved being able to just walk there and not be surrounded by a ton of people, and being able to walk slowly and take it all in.

One of the people that I work with has a second job (just a few hours a week) at a liquor store -- he said that it's a madhouse when people first hear the mention of snow or a snowstorm. :rotfl:

Oh my gosh, I can't believe you were there then, too! That's crazy.

We all severe cases of morning brain that day -- we forgot about the fairies, and then realized later on that we should have tried for Space Mountain first thing as well, because when we got there a little later, the wait time was posted at 20 minutes, but it was a huge line. As soon as we walked up, the time on the board doubled, and we decided that it wasn't worth waiting 40 minutes for. I felt because Kailyn really wanted to ride it.

I hope you get to see the updated HM at some point, it is awesome. We also rode the train -- I think we went from Fantasyland to Toontown, not realizing how close together they are.

That would be hilarious if you found yourself in any of the pictures -- I didn't want to be weird, but I kept on trying to discreetly take crowd pictures in the hopes that someone would recognize themselves, or that you might be in some of them. :rotfl:

Ooh and I almost forgot -- happy (very) belated birthday! I wish we had run into you, I would have liked to wish you happy birthday in person.

I knew there was something that I forgot to stock up on. :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I know, right?! That reminder came a tad late for me. :lmao:

Great update! Love the castle pic! It's snowing here too....Boo. :(

Thank you!

It seems like it's snowing everywhere for my DIS buddies. I'm so done with the snow. :headache: We didn't get much at all last winter, but we're making up for it this winter. All the huge piles of snow in my yard and on the sidewalks were finally gone, and now it's going to come back. I updated my Facebook status to say that I will only be okay with the snow if it means no school tomorrow. :rolleyes1

I love your picture with Donald!! I have to find him in his cute little western outfit.

I can't believe how empty everything looked. That is too bad that you missed the fairies.

Have to subscribe because I just love your trip report so far!
BTW - howdy to a neighbor (I'm from NH) - since they are predicting so much snow tomorrow, you should have plenty of time to post more updates! LOL

Thank you! I loved his outfit. :cutie: I hadn't seen him dressed like that before so I was really excited to get that picture.

I'm bummed that we missed the fairies, but it is a reason to go back. ;)

:welcome: Thank you so much for reading and joining in!

What part of New Hampshire? I'm about 45 minutes from the border, and I have an aunt that lives around the Wolfeboro area. How much snow are you supposed to get? I keep on hearing so many different things, but the last I heard was around 18". My sister's school district is canceled, and I am stalking my school's website and the news channels to see if my school will be closed. :rotfl:

Thank you again for reading and joining in -- I love it when people join in.

I'm in the Seacoast area and we're supposed to get 10-15 inches of snow. :sad2: Just when we were starting to get bare spots too!!! I would be very surprised if you had school tomorrow!
Spring can't come soon enough!!!!
Renee'

It takes us several years to accumulate what you guys get in one day! We get excited about it down here, but I know I would be tired of it very quickly if it came all the time.

If all goes well, I have only two weeks and two days before I go to Disney World. I will bring back many pictures of flowers and palm trees and beaches and sunshine to warm you guys up!

I hope you'll get to stay inside today. Spring will be here sooner or maybe later, but it will be here, so hang in there!

I'm not even sure how much we're supposed to get; I stopped looking after I found out school was canceled. I think it might have stopped snowing, but there's a lot. I meant to take pictures earlier but I just wanted to get the dog out and back inside. I am also very ready for spring!

It looks really pretty right now, but it was so nice to be able to see the ground again. It is good, though, that it came after everything else had pretty much melted, because I don't know what would happen if it covered the other piles of snow.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for your trip! I will be looking forward to your amazing pictures.

School was canceled, so I do get to stay inside. The good thing is that making days up is pretty much left to the instructor. I'm not sure how many days my mom and Kailyn will have to make up.

:headache: I am so over the snow too. We got soooo much today and yesterday...it's March, for cryin' out loud. Ha ha. Luckily, I didn't go into the office today, so that made my life a little easier. Hope you are keeping warm! :)

I just caught your last update. I can't believe how empty the park was. How lucky! I dream of seeing it like that one day.

I try to keep up with this TR but it was too fast for me. LOL... Reason why I was reading this is because I was at WDW that week also. Although my last day was 2/15. Sounds like you and your family had a great time.

We have about 6 inches of snow here at PA also but the snow drift was even worse. We will be back to single digit weather tomorrow. Oh Joy!!!

Yeah, I know it's Massachusetts, but I did not expect so much snow at the beginning of March. :headache: I'm glad you didn't have to go out -- I am very fortunate that I no longer work Mondays, because I would have been a wreck driving.

You keep warm too! Keep counting down the days to TBM and hopefully no more snow!

It was so nice. I hope that you get to see it for yourself one day!

Thanks for reading! And yeah, I'm trying to space out my updates and do shorter ones. Awesome that you were there at the same time! It was a nice time to go, I think -- we didn't have any issues with the President's Day crowds or anything, and the weather was so nice.

I don't even know how much we got, because of all the drifts, but it came just as all the other snow was melted. Hope you manage to stay warm!
