Hi, is it possible to manage an afternoon break easily if you are staying off site. We are travelling in August, staying at the Vistana Villages (Int Drive, close to Sea World), and have a DD of 6 years.

We are very flexible and appreciate that she will get tired and will need a break, but need a bit of info as t how those of you staying off site have managed this. We hope to hit the parks again in the evening.

Thanks.

Hi Katie's dad.

We usually stay off site too!!

I have never really found it a problem taking an afternoon break as long as you have a car!!

Often you can get back to your hotel quicker than you can catch the buses back to an on site hotel.

We stayed last November at Marriott Orlando World Center, it is not far from where you are staying, it took us around 15 minutes to get back to the hotel (when I did not get lost) takes a little longer from Magic Kingdom.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Lynda, for the info. 15 mins or so is nothing compared to having a tired DD for the rest of the day. I was actually hoping it was easier to get around now, as we seemed to go the wrong way and get lost very easily last time we were there (it was ages ago though).

we stay off site in a villa too & are planning to take afternoon breaks.

We find it so benificial , our 3 kids usually hit the pool but they are older than your DD.

DH & I just chill out!!!!

you can also have a late lunch/snack which can save a few pennies, we then eat our main meal at night when we come out of the parks the second time.

ON our first visit we did the first 2/3 parks all day till closing & were absolutley shattered.

remember to have your hand stamped as you leave the park & keep your car-park ticket as that is valid all day.

We always stay off site (I'd love to stay on site one day!), and we always take a mid-day break. Our children are 3 and 4 now (they're really spoilt, they've already been 3 times!) and they have to have a rest in the middle of the day, otherwise dd in particular can get very grumpy!
The only problem we've ever had with it was when we were located down hw27. It took 45+minutes sometimes to get to Universal etc, so it was impractical to return to the park later if we took a break back at the villa. This year we've got a much better located one just off 192, so it shouldn't be a problem.
