An addition to the family

Of the furry four legged kind. lol

I'm thinking about getting another animal for our family. I know there are cat people and dog people, but I love both.
However, I have had allergies to cats. I was fine when it was just one, but with two, they were too much.
My doggie needs a pet to raise too. She's too lonely without someone to play with when no one is home. She's a wonderful mommy, so that isn't a concern.

What do you all think?

Go for it! Have you been looking at any already? My dog does so much better with a kitty to keep her company.

Serena...All pets need pets! My dog Mika has two kittens (Ashes and Ginger)They get along great. They keep each other company.Even though the Mika was here first...Ashes rules even though he's the youngest. Good luck !!!!PS...My DD and I are both allergic to cats. We take our meds because thy're worth it.

Little known fact about me - I am allergic to Monty Dog. I take my meds and I'm fine...usually allegra does the trick.

I have a dog and a cat (who is convinced the golden retriever gave birth to him).

I have asthma and I also have 4 cats, 1 dog ,1 bird and a prairie dog, I think the trick with having cats is keeping them bathed, mine get a bath once a month, I started them very young, it's not enjoyed but it is tolereated. They are also white so this keeps them nice and clean (although they stay inside, they sometimes get yellow looking) I think the baths really cut down on the cat dander which is what causes most allergies. And to be honest if I ever meet Prince charming and he is allergic he better take some pills or move on!! I also have very little carpeting in my home which tends to trap alot of allergens. But go ahead and get a playmate for your dog what ever you choose try and save a life.......a pound puppy etc.

I am so violently allergic to cats I would probably die before the week was up if I got a cat, even on all my meds. I'm a dog person

My beagle was beginning to show signs of age, so we got a puppy. It's amazing to see how much the beagle has perked up, and it's funny to see her play with the new puppy! Shugardrawers offered some great advice re housetraining, and it worked fantastically, so even housebreaking wasn't too bad.

Here's my puppy's sister when they were 4wks old (Grace looks just like her, except Grace has white paws)
