AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Today was weigh-in day!!! Guess what?!??! I am STILL AT 137!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is getting a little crazy, let me tell ya! :crazy2: I have been taking 1 water pill every morning this week (to counteract Sunday’s 3 lb overnight gain and TOM’s water retention wrath) and that seems to have helped a little. I think I will do that every month the week before TOM. ::yes:: That way I will be able to fit into my clothes ALL month long!!! I have a feeling I will see a loss next Friday and here is my twisted logic on that: I am STILL at 137, the same weight I’ve been for over a month. But last week (at the same weight) I put on the jeans I am wearing today and they fit perfectly. Today, the same jeans are a little snug (I have some water retention flabbiness). SO, I think that I must have lost some weight but I am still at 137 because I am retaining a little water. If my theory holds correct, I will hopefully see a loss next week! :goodvibes But regardless, it’s the new me and I am not too concerned with what the scale says. I am consistently exercising and eating right.

We are going tubing tomorrow down the Salt River. I think there are 12 of us going. The scenery is gorgeous and it is very relaxing to float down the river with some frosty beverages! No glass allowed - we’ll have to get creative… ;) Afterwards we are going to a friend’s house. He makes the best carne asada and we will be having tacos and margaritas. I will enjoy a little bit of everything - I think I have finally gotten to the point where I will stop eating when I am full. I just try to remember how bloated and uncomfortable and disappointed I feel when I overeat. It’s not a good feeling and it isn’t worth it! I am trying to chew very slowly and enjoy every bite. You know, re-train my brain to eat like a “normal” person! :teeth: This will be my “final exam” to see if that new habit is actually fully formed and in effect, wish me luck!!

Jane-the Caribbean Daze was a pina colada with raspberry rum added. It tasted good, but I like to know my drinks have alcohol in it, and this sure didn’t seem like it! Your margarita on the other hand – perfect! And my dinner out was delicious, it was at this new “Spanish Fusion” restaurant called Zocalo.

Amy, have fun tubing! It sounds like you're going to have a great day, especially with the dinner afterwards. Your Spanish fusion restaurant sounds good - wish we had something like that.

I am getting used to staying OP! LOL! (That sounds very odd to me! LOL!)

Keep up your hard work, as well! :goodvibes

Amy-

Weight Watchers makes some great ice cream treats. The vanilla covered in Oreo spinkles is delish and only 2 pts.

I'm sure you will see a difference on that scale next week. You are doing great! Just keep up the good work.

My mother always told us you should count to 20 with every bite. Since you are having mexican you will have to count in Spanish. Uno, Dos, Tres, Quatro... When you have had too much tequila and can no longer remember the words in spanish you will have to stop chewing ;)

Have a great weekend!!!!!

You kill me!! :rotfl2: That is a good way to knnow when you have had enough, though!! Have a great, great weekend!! :flower:

Well, I did not stay on any type of plan at all for the weekend. :confused3 But I had fun!!! Tubing was great, the weather was awesome and we floated by a pack (herd?) of wild horses drinking out of the river. Don't get to see that very often!

I did the Blockbuster Pilates DVD on Friday and I am STILL sore! It kicked my butt, I loved it so much I burned a copy (shh, don't tell anyone!). It incorporates weights as well as Pilates. It is 55 minutes long and a GREAT workout! The rest of the weekend I didn't work out at all...

Here's what I ate on Sat:
B-Egg Beaters; Toast-n-Butter; Banana
L-2 Carne Asada Tacos; 10 Chips w/Salsa; Broccoli Salad; 1 Brownie; 1/2 slice Pumpkin Pie; Watermelon
S-Trail Mix; Countless Margaritas (Cindy, I don't think I could have counted to 20 in English at that point!!! :rolleyes: )
D-Pita chips w/Hummus & Tabbouli
S-Baskin Robbins (double scoop! :eek: )

Sunday wasn't much better:
B-Egg Beaters; Toast-n-Butter; Cantaloupe
L-Buffalo Chicken Salad w/Ranch; Pita Bread w/Hummus (can you tell I'm in a hummus phase?)
S-2 Creme Savers; 5 mini Rice Cakes
D-Bread w/Spinach-n-Artichoke Dip (4 slices); Ham Pizza on Whole Wheat Crust; Hot Fudge Sundae (Jane, where were you to talk me out of that one?)

I think I am learning that bread is not my friend. I am all bloated and yucky today. I bet this feeling will go away tomorrow. Today starts a new week and I am already back on track with a healthy breakfast under my belt! I will post my plans for the day later on - right now it's time to skip off to a meeting!

Hi Amy, I am new to the WISH board but I have to tell you if you are going to blow the old diet, carne asada tacos and margaritas are a really good way to do it! Glad you had fun, with a good day today the weekend's good eats will be just a good memory. Good luck!

Countless Margaritas (Cindy, I don't think I could have counted to 20 in English at that point!!! )

Very funny Amy! I agree with Amy&Dan if you gotta do it, that's the way to go!!

But I did see alot of healthy items on your weekend list. I would say that you didn't completely fall off the wagon, you just hung over the side a little ;)

Great attitude for the new week!!

I am at the point where I am going to have to get creative to squeeze in at least 3 cardio workouts a week. Things are just so busy! I also need to get a grip on my weekends. The last 2 have just been a free-for-all. I looked back at all the stuff I ate and I really didn’t do TOO bad. I’m sure it was all the margaritas that killed me… I am really retaining water today, my ankles look like tree trunks (the term “cankles” comes to mind…) and I am jiggly all over. Luckily that will go away in a day or two, I am trying to drink more water than usual (which is hard when I already drink about 100 oz per day!). There is a fine line between wanting to get into better shape and enjoying life. I need to get a little better at compromising!! I’ve been pretty lax on my snacking this past week or so, I am going to get back on track with that.

WORKOUT-Elliptical (40 min); Walking (10 min)

Amy&Dan, thanks for stopping by my journal! Are you Amy or Dan? My friend makes the most awesome carne asada, so yes, it was worth it!

Cindy, you are right about my food choices. I did eat a little too many sweets, but overall I think the quality was there, but the quantity is what did me in... I didn't need a food slapper this weekend, I needed a margarita slapper!

Your tubing trip sounded awesome. I've never even seen wild horses. Bet they were gorgeous! Here, we just have wild gators. That food must've been delicious! Where are the margarita slappers when you need them?? I won't even ask about the hot fudge sundae. However, I dreampt I was eating a hot fudge sundae last night. I was so relieved to wake up! Weekends are hard to get thru!

Last night was great! :goodvibes The only unplanned snack I had was 3 dried papaya spears from the farmer’s market. No sweets other than my scheduled dessert (I had a mini ice cream sandwich instead of the sherbet bar – 100 calories). The baked macaroni was pretty good and the kids liked it, so I will make that again! It’s a nice feeling to get back in control after a couple weeks of semi-wandering… ::yes:: 3 lbs of the water weight from this weekend is already gone, I have a feeling the other 2 will go away today and tomorrow I will be back at my usual, predictable weight… I really want to be able to post a loss this month. Just one pound by the end of the month, is that too much to ask?

I won’t have time to do much of a workout today. I should be able to at least squeeze in some arm weights. I will try for Pilates but not schedule it since I didn’t have time last Tuesday… For today:

B-Yogurt; ½ c. LF Granola; Banana
L- Salad (Romaine, 2 Egg Whites, Cheese, LF Dressing); 8 Mini Rice Cakes; DC
S#1-Pear
S#2-Cantaloupe; 3 Dried Papaya Spears; LF String Cheese
D-Beef Roast; Carrots; Potatoes (all in crock pot); Chocolate Malt Push Up (90 cal); ~1/4 cup Cocoa Puffs (30? cal)
WORKOUT-Walking (10 min)

Jane, I've seen wild horses before up north, but this was the first time I'd seen them here and so up close. They didn't even get scared when we floated by, they just looked at us and kept on drinking. It was cool. I've never seen a gator in the wild...

HI Amy,

Your weekend sounded great!!!!! I am not much of a water person, but I would love to try tubing....I don't know why really. I say that now, but then get me out there and that is a whole nother story!!!!!

Your eating was not that bad.....You did have some healthy snacks in there too.

I am sending some :wizard: for that darn scale to get moving.......

Keep up the good work. You are doing a great job

Amy- I guess wild horses couldn't drag you away from those margaritas this weekend. (sorry I couldn't resist!) :rotfl2:

Well you are on track and here's a toast "May your scale plummet this week!! :drinking:

Crusin'minnie you crack me up! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hang in there Amy! You will lose a couple of pounds this month!

What a relaxing weekend!! The scale WILL move this month...I just know it!! :flower:

The last of my margarita weight is gone, I am back at 137. Big surprise, right? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I will be at 136 or less on Friday when I officially weigh in!!! I think I will make it because when I first got on the scale, it said 136 for quite a while before it flipped over to 137. So I bet I am about 136.5 (no decimals on my scale). :goodvibes That is definitely motivation to not over-snack in the evenings - I have a fighting chance to lose a pound by Friday!!!! I still have my goal of 125 by the end of September, but with the rate I’m going, I’d just love to be at 130! I’ll take whatever I can get at this point… :rolleyes:

I didn’t get in any exercise last night. :guilty: I was hoping for weights, but that was a no-go. I was just too busy! I will only be able to make it to the gym 3x this week. I will be able to do Pilates tomorrow and Sunday, so I guess 5 workouts for the week is pretty good. I did have a weak moment last night and I ate a small handful (probably ¼ cup) of Cocoa Puffs around 8:30pm. Nothing too terrible, just enough to get rid of my “late night” sweets craving!! For today:

B-Yogurt; ½ c. LF Granola; Banana
L- Salad (Romaine, 2 Egg Whites, Cheese, LF Dressing); 8 Mini Rice Cakes; DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Strawberries; 2 Dried Papaya Spears
D-2 Mahi Mahi Soft Tacos; 10 Chips w/Salsa; Veggies; Spanish Rice; 3 Tropical Creme Savers (60 cal)
WORKOUT-Elliptical (40 min); Walking (10 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cindy, that is so funny! :rotfl: I think the wild horses were dragging me TO the margaritas!!
Jamie, Jane, Karyn, thanks for the scale-moving :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: !!!
Amy-
Don't beat yourself up about the excercise. 5 workouts for the week is fantastic. And when your schedule slows down you can increase your excercise.
You look to be doing really well with the meals. I am anxious for you to see what the scale does Friday.
Just a few more days to Friday. In the meantime, have a few crabcakes - then the weight will come flying off! One pound at your weight is nothing to sneeze at. If you need a reminder take a look at a pound of butter. Thats actually quite a bit to lose in one week when you're as close to goal as you are. You're going to look great for your trip this fall. You can do this, Amy!
Well, we had a change of plans last night. The chicken wasn’t thawed out and my friend (visiting from NY) wanted to go out for Mexican. I did the best I could – no margarita (I know, I surprised myself!), 10 chips w/salsa (I tried to resist but everything was homemade, so I rationed it out), 2 grilled mahi mahi tacos w/soft corn tortillas (they were fantastic!), some vegetables and Spanish rice. I didn’t gain anything this morning, so I must have done OK! :goodvibes For today:
B-Yogurt; ½ c. LF Granola; Banana
L- Salad (Romaine, 2 Egg Whites, Cheese, LF Dressing); 10 Mini Rice Cakes; DC
S#1-Pear
S#2-Cantaloupe; Pita Chips-n-Hummus; 3 Mini Rice Cakes
D- Honey Crusted Chicken; Broccoli; Sherbet Bar (60 cal); 1/4 cup Reeses Puffs (40 cal)
WORKOUT-Pilates Sculpt DVD (50 min); Walking (10 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cindy, you are right, 5 workouts is nothing to complain about! I am really hooked on working out and I get bummed when my schedule gets in the way. There is no end in sight until November when soccer and tennis are over...

Jane, thanks for the analogy! They have a 5lb and 10lb tub of "fat" at the gym and I was shocked at how much it is! It really puts it in perspective.
