AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Congrats on the Skinny Pants!!! :cheer2: Your hard work is paying off!

I've been feeling exhausted too. Those late nights & hot & humid days don't help! I just feel energy-less!

LOL about the saltwater! I was thinking more of the salt from the chips but I'm sure that mouthful of water didn't help either!

Wanna buy a cat cheap??? On my thread I've just complained 2 paragraphs worth about QT then while I'm trying to post to you here she jumped down from the top of my computer armoire, right onto the keyboard, and knocked me offline!!!!! :badpc:

Hi, Amy! You are doing so great! Congratulations on being so disciplined post-trip. So many people come back and get discouraged because they've gained, but you are using the real-life skillls I hope to master of getting right back into the groove of things. :banana: And now you know how to deal with all those parties, too! And you'll look great in your skinny pants.

Congratulations on getting in so many minutes for the October exercise challenge! You rock! :cool:

Congrats!!! Your doing so great! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Ooh parties, they all sound like so much fun. Keep motivated! you'll be your goal weight in no time!
Just reading about the exercise you did makes me tired :goodvibes

Well, I find myself with some unplanned time off work - DS9 managed to get himself suspended from school for fighting! I can't believe it! The kid is gifted beyond all reason, yet he does the STUPIDEST things! ARGH!! Here are a couple beach pix:

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO RESIZE THE PICTURES!!!!!

Jamie, I feel like a slug. It might be because it is still in the upper 90's here :sunny: or it might be the margarita withdrawal...

Karyn, thanks for the fire brigade, I needed them!!! And there's more of that to come! :goodvibes

Jane, are you trying to kill me?!? I can walk into someone's house and know immediately if they have a cat - my eyes well up and the nonstop sneeze-fest begins... :cat: = :sick:

Cam, thanks! I am finally starting to get the hang of this discipline stuff (although I still have my moments!!!)

Rizel, I try to stock up on the exercise minutes early in the month, just in case something happens and I can't work out as much later on. This is my 4th exercise challenge and I haven't missed my goal yet! :cheer2:

Yesterday was BAD, BAD, BAD!!!!! I was off my routine since I had to come home at lunchtime. I am so stressed out and irritated by DS that I just started emotional eating. He and another boy got into a pushing match while in line from recess that ended up with my DS punching the other kid in the chest and the other kid punching DS in the back... I will be home all day today but I have already decided to stick to the same eating plan I would have if I were at work. And I will be busy around the house, cleaning and putting my slave laborer to work. He is going to wish he never touched that kid by the end of the day! I also have some math review sheets and flashcards waiting for him...

So my BAD snacks were - Cheetos (1 large handful), Soy Crisps (15), 4 extra Creme Savers and a mini ice cream sandwich. Adding those things in put me at 1616 calories. :guilty: The scale was still at 135 this morning, but I bet it would have been at 134 if I hadn't gone off the deep end! So today I am back on track and tomorrow I'll show that scale who's boss!! The plan (1266 cal):

B-FF Yogurt (6 oz); Kashi Crunch (3/4 c.); Honeydew (1 c.)
S#1-Apple
L-Romaine (2 c.); Grilled Chicken (3 oz); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); Cheese (1/8 c.); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c.)
D-Turkey Cheeseburger on Wheat Bun; Green Beans (1 c.); Creme Savers (3)
WORKOUT-Pilates Sculpt DVD (55 min)

Hi Amy,

Sorry to hear about the troubles that you are having with you DS. Good for you for a having a plan for him while he is out of school. That way he does not get to sit around and enjoy being out of school

You have a great plan in place for today even though you are home. I know you can stick to it!

Have a great Friday and keep up the good work!

Amy, remember that cruise you've got coming up! You're going to have a great time & be in great shape! 134 is just around the corner.

Sounds like you're going to be busy keeping ds busy! Hope everything goes smoothly. Its amazing the trouble kids can get into!

I'm sure the slave laborer will get back on track soon!!

Maybe you could wear the skinny pants to the party as an added incentive.

You are doing great at getting rid of the Mexico lbs. Keep at it!! :sunny:

Ugh Amy, I am so sorry to hear about your DS, but good for you for making him work while he's at home.

BTW, there is a free software program called Irfanview that you can use it to resize your pics if you don't have photoshop. Many digital cameras also come with photo editors.

YAY on the skinny pants!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

OK, I have officially spun out of control!!!! Somebody reel me back in!!! Yesterday I did great until we went to the local HS Homecoming parade, and of course they were throwing out candy. Someone was actually throwing Hershey kisses. That might not sound so odd, but remember where I am... :sunny: It was 96 degrees yesterday and when they hit the pavement, they just kinda plopped... So I had to save them and ate 4 of them on the way home (we walked). :guilty: So I ended up eating those and a caramel and a Starburst. Probably 250 calories extra, I didn't even bother to add it to FitDay because I know it is bad...

Today I have managed to eat 1243 calories already and it is only 3pm! We still have that party to go to!!! The downfall today was CARAMEL APPLES! I ate mine, and of course neither kid finished theirs, so I turned myself into a human garbage disposal and finished theirs. I probably had 2 whole caramel apples. And add 14 mini rice cakes and 2 more Hershey kisses and we've got ourselves another BAD DAY!!!!!!

And to top it all off, I woke up this morning with my fingers feeling like swollen sausages about to pop. Yes, it is my pre-TOM week, so I will be gaining 3-4 lbs no matter what I do over the next couple days. Not to mention I am - shall we say - "backed up" which makes it even worse... I started the day at 136... ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

Plan for the party - NO FOOD! I am going to drown my sorrows in Passion Fruit wine... I don't know what has happened to me, but I need to get refocused. Tomorrow starts a new day and I have no excuses not to stick to less than 1300 calories. No food at the party is not realistic for a food hound such as myself :dog: but I am definitely going to be extremely selective and only have a bite of this or a taste of that. I can do it! I will post my success/failure tomorrow, WISH me luck! :wizard:

:flower: Girl,JOIN THE CLUB!! I know as well as anyone what it is like to take it upon myself to rid the house of food! I have learned that I can't go from "terrible" one day to "exactly on plan" the next. I have to ease myself back into reality!! Just don't overdo it tonight and try to do better tomorrow! I hope to hear about losses here soon!! :flower:

Hiya!

I've done what you did today many a times, eat all my cals in the morning and be like "oh crap now what" Don't worry! a starburst is only 25cals! i think...so the damage shouldnt' be too bad. You can do it! For the backed up ...um..fiber + water should help. *hugs* you can do this. Your doing so great with the skinny pants and being 136.

Keep at it! :cool1:

You know, I think you could do a lot worse than a couple of Hershey's Kisses.

Hang in there and get a fresh start tomorrow. :flower:

The weekend went OK. Saturday was bad, yesterday was excellent. I’m not going to whine about my weight on a daily basis anymore. I’m sure everyone is sick of hearing it. I know I am! I only “officially” count it on Wednesdays, so that is when I will officially report (and whine about) it. Let’s just say it’s up right now thanks to my lack of discipline and regularly scheduled pre-TOM bloating… I didn’t work out either Sat or Sun. I attempted to do a Pilates DVD on Sunday but it was AWFUL! It was SO slow paced and touchy-feely, what a waste! And I should have done a different one, but I was so irritated with that DVD I quit after 15 minutes and just said screw it… One thing I DID do was avoid popcorn at the movies yesterday! I didn’t eat a single kernel and that was a HUGE accomplishment! I just sipped on my DC and was perfectly content.

Here’s the damage from Saturday (no FitDay total - I know it’s bad):
B-Egg Beaters (3/4 c.); Cheese (1/8 c.); Toast-n-Butter; Honeydew (1 c.)
S#1-Mini Rice Cakes (14); Caramel Apple (2)
L-Grilled Turkey-n-Cheese Sandwich; Fritos (1/2 serving); Carrots (2)
D@Party-Pretzels (1 serving); Mixed Nuts (1/4 c.); Turkey-n-Cheese Sandwich on Roll; Bruschetta w/Spinach-n-Artichoke Dip (2); Fruit Salad (1/2 c.); 1 piece Carrot Cake; Mai Tai (4)
:guilty:

Sun (1246 cal :) ):
B-Egg Beaters (1/2 c.); Cheddar (1/8 c.); Toast-n-Butter; Honeydew (1 c.)
L-Grilled Ham-n-Cheese Sandwich; Carrots (2); DC
S-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c.); LF String Cheese
D-Shake-n-Bake Pork Chop (2 oz); Mashed Potatoes (1/2 c.); Mixed Veggies (1/2 c.); HC Ice Cream Sandwich; Crème Savers (2)

Here is where all my hard work and dedication will be put to the test - the cookie dough is coming!!! We have to pick it up tonight. I am 100% for sure not making any cookies during the week (too busy), and the kids will be gone this weekend, so I will be safe for a while. Hopefully when they come back they will forget about it and I can just make them for parties and holidays! But I know the frozen dough will be calling me from the freezer every waking minute of every day… Gotta resist and stay focused! Save those cookies for special occasions only! I CAN and WILL do it!!! For today (1284 cal :teeth: ):

B-Oatmeal (1 packet); FF Yoplait Yogurt; Honeydew (1 c.)
L-Romaine (2 c.); Grilled Chicken (3 oz); LF Dressing (2 tbsp.); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Ham Lunchmeat (6 thin slices); Corn Tortillas (2); Mustard
D-1/6th of Cheeseburger Pie (Ground Turkey, Onion, LF Bisquick, Shredded Cheddar); Cauliflower (1 c.); Crème Savers (5)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min); Weights (20 min); Treadmill (25 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks guys! You always make me feel better with your constant encouragement, it means so much to me! :grouphug: I probably won't be wearing my skinny pants this week, but next week - watch out! :teeth:
Watch out for that cookie dough!!!! Thats dangerous stuff. Those charity events will getcha everytime!
Speaking of charities, on Friday evening at about 6:30pm there was a knock on my door. It was a boy about 11 years old selling candy. This group comes every year - they don't even live here - they're from a nearby town. I always feel so bad for these little kids. They look so hot, sweaty & tired. I HAVE to buy something. I also offered him a bottle of water which he refused. I get so mad because a big van pulls into our neighborhood & out pops the kids. No one watches them. The van is parked about 2 blocks from my house. You'd think they'd at least go door to door with a buddy but they don't. When I did an internet search on the group nothing comes up. Anyway, I got a box of honey peanuts, gave them to dh & told him to keep them away from me. Then I spent the evening worrying about those kids!
That was my rant for the day!!!
This is a tough week but next week you're weight will be back down! Congrats on going popcornless at the movies! You know how I am with my movie candy! Also, how are Mai Tais? Living in Florida you'd think I would have tried them by now. What's in them? In college I had friends who had tried them & they said they were sweet but deadly! Back then I rarely had anything stronger than a wine spritzer!
Yesterday went extremely well! No unplanned snacking, which is a major milestone considering I usually want to eat everything in sight this time of month… We picked up the cookie dough – HOLY COW there is SO much (33 tubs)!!!! Thankfully only 4 are ours… The nutritional info says there are 160-170 calories per cookie (they come in pre-measured blobs), and that information alone should keep me on the straight and narrow! I might make some to take to the party this weekend (which I don’t even want to go to and hope we can come up with an excuse not to…) and I will make some for our Halloween party. Then some more for Thanksgiving and some more for Christmas. That should take care of it! If there is any dough leftover, I will make it and have DB take it to work. Yep, that’s the plan!
My activity load has gone way down. I took DS out of tennis because of his bad behavior. I think that is the one punishment that actually made him upset. I drove him to tennis last Thursday and made him tell the coach he would no longer be in class (he had 3 classes left) because he was misbehaving in school. I also called and cancelled his 2nd session of classes. I usually emphasize the whole “no quitting” thing, but he actually told the teacher for his gifted class that he couldn’t find time to do his homework because he plays tennis (which he only did an hour 2x a week – he has PLENTY of time for homework!). The real reason he wasn’t doing the homework was that he was frustrated because it was too challenging… I tell ya, that kid is going to be the death of me! On a better note, I think I am in love… with Philly Cinnamon-n-Brown Sugar Whipped Cream Cheese :lovestruc ! I had it on my bagel (Sara Lee Delightful 100% Whole Wheat – only 130 calories for the whole bagel!) this morning– YUM!!!! For today (1378 cal):
B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2 tbsp); Light-n-Fit w/Fiber Yogurt; Cantaloupe (1 c.)
L-Romaine (2 c.); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Cheese (1/8 c.); Grilled Chicken (3 oz); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c.)
D-Scalloped Potatoes-n-Sausage in Crockpot (turkey sausage, onions, potatoes, cheddar cheese soup, cream of celery soup); Crème Savers (5); Cinnamon Toast Crunch (3/4 c.) :rolleyes:
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min); Pilates (40 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, Mai Tais are made with a light rum, dark rum, grenadine and orange juice. They are dangerous! They go down like Kool-Aid... You would love them, you should try one next time you are out!

Yay, I did it! Here are a couple pictures from our Mexico trip. The sunset was cool - keep in mind this was 2 days before Stan slammed into Mexico. We were in Puerto Penasco, which is on the east coast of the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California). Both these photos were taken from the deck of our rental house.

Your pix are beautiful. You must've had a great time between the view, the MaiTai's & the weather. Thank God you left before Stan visited!

Thanks for posting the info on Sara Lee's bread products. I never even knew they had bread products. I just thought they had those darn sweet rolls that are so tempting I don't even look in those freezers! I'll have to take a closer look next time I'm at the grocery store.

Sorry to hear about your battles with ds. Seems like its one thing or another at that age. And you know, Amy, it doesn't get easier!

HI Amy,

so sorry to hear that things didn't go as planned this weekend regarding eating. However you did make a great recovery! We all have times that we do that. I know...trust me!!!!

Thanks for sharing some of your pics. They look beautiful.

Hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday. Keep up the good work

I am at 135 this morning. I need to get serious (and STAY serious) if I want to get anywhere close to my Thanksgiving Challenge. I couldn’t lay off the Cinnamon Toast Crunch last night so I ate ¾ cup of that after dinner… I also had one extra Crème Saver. :guilty: I didn’t get my Pilates in, but fortunately I did my 40 min walk. According to FitDay I need to lose 1.63 lbs/week to make my goal. It’ll be tough, but I can do it!

My poor DD6 is sick. :sick: DB stayed home with her yesterday – she had a froggy voice and a temp of 101. I took her to the Dr and it is a sinus infection. Poor thing! I hate it when the kiddies get sick (which fortunately is not very often - the last time she was on any antibiotics was 3 years ago!). That scalloped potatoes-n-sausage dish I made in the crockpot last night was actually pretty good! I’ll have to make that one again sometime. The kids are going to their dad's tonight (they don't have school tomorrow or Fri for Oct Break) so I can't go to the gym. I am scheduling in a glass of wine tonight so we can have a nice, romantic dinner. :love2: For today (1917 cal :sad: ):

B-FF Yogurt (6 oz); Kashi Crunch (3/4 c.); Cantaloupe (1 c.)
L-Romaine (2 c.); Cheese (1/8 c.); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Shake-n-Bake Pork Chop (2 oz); Graham Cracker (1); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Macadamia Nuts (1/2 c.); Mini Rice Cakes (5); HOney Wheat donut (1/2); Chocolate Milk (1/3 c.) :guilty:
D-Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi; Pasta Roni (3/4 c.); Broccoli (1 c.); Wine (1 glass); Crème Savers (4); Cream Cheese (2 tbsp)
WORKOUT-Walking (10 min); Pilates Sculpt (55 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, that is NOT what I wanted to hear! You are supposed to say that when they turn 10 all behavior problems magically disappear... :wizard:
Jamie, I am trying to do my best, I don't know what it is about after dinner time that makes me want to eat cereal! I think it is because I get the breakfast stuff ready (so I don't have to do it in the morning) and when I put the cereal box on the table, I grab a handful... :rolleyes1 I am getting better - at least last night I told myself "I don't need this" as I was munching away... :blush:
