Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

Hi Amy
Good luck for the WI tomorrow :)
Although i'm sure you wont need it ;)
That hot bath was a great idea, might have to go & do that now :)
Have a great week :)

Hello Wish Friends:

I am pretty tired tonight, I went over and cleaned my mom's condo today, never my favorite thing to do and always hard work since it doens't get much in the way of attention in between my visits. I say this every time but I have got to get over there more often to clean! Stepdad and I mall walked. My mom refused to get out of bed, she is depressed and being a pill. So I left her home telling her I wanted to walk and get up and join me or stay home. She fooled me by calling my bluff. Oh well. I got in 45 very fast minutes at the mall, I was sweating. The seniors were cheering me on! I came home and made my mom get out of bed, and eat something. Couldn't talk her into getting dressed but later on talked with stepdad and he said she had finally when he bribed her with Dairy Queen if she got up.

Food today was good, I didn't get lunch until way too late and ate too many carbs when I did. Stayed well within points and still have a few flex points left (like maybe 4) so it was a good week. I hope I am down but somehow doubt it. Four weeks in a row would be too much to ask for! But I will definitely be going tomorrow. I am too tired to list my food, need to get back to doing that again. But I did get in my four servings of veggies so that was good.

Amy: I have been watching Sex in the City DVD's while I treadmill. Kind of a dumb show and very raunchy but it keeps me interested enough to distract my mind off the timer. I am waiting for a bathing suit I ordered to arrive so I can start water walking at the rec center. They have a lazy river (that actually goes pretty fast, nothing lazy about it) and in the a.m. you can walk against the current before the pool officially opens. So I am going to give that a shot.

Tracey: The hot bath was great. It got me out of the mood to snack and was very relaxing!

 Amy,

I am kind of going through the same thing with my mom. It's hard because my mom was doing quite well a few weeks ago and is not doing well at the moment. :( Let's hope both of our moms start feeling better soon.:grouphug:

Hope you have a great day today WISH sis!

Yeah, its so up and down with my mom. I am wondering if she is taking her meds properly, when she has Alz. and my stepdad is 82, you have to wonder if they are keeping it all straight. I'll definitely keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers! Maybe springtime will make it better for them both.

I was down a half pound at weigh in today. So not as good as the last three weeks but a loss (fourth week in a row) nonetheless. I'll take it!

Food today:
Breakfat: All Bran w/ skim and walnuts (4)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine: (6)
Snack: Weight Watchers ice cream cone (2)
Dinner: Fish (6) Pasta (4) Salad (1) Broccoli (0) tangerine (1)
Snack: Pudding (2)
Total: 26

Didn't exercise today but am mall walking tomorrow. I am taking ds with me since he doens't have school then off to a conference (the reason he doesn't have school). I am anxious and nervous to see how he is doing at his new school. His grades are good based on the progress reports but I'll be interested to see how the teacher thinks he is doing socially which is always his weak area.

I am so close to getting my 30 pound star, only two pounds to go. I really wish I could get it next week, keeping fingers crossed!

Way to go, Amy!:cool1: That 30 pound star is soon to be yours WISH sis!:thumbsup2 You are doing a great job... I am so proud of you!

Sending some :wizard: for your DS's conference today. Let us know how it goes.:goodvibes

Did you dig up that link to your POP trip report yet? Next week, we make ADRs and book special events and I am getting so excited! I'd love to read your report if you have the link.:thumbsup2

Have a great day!:cool1:

Hi Amy,

Congrats on the loss this week and last week!!! That is great!!!! I wish I could get my in laws out to mall walk...they both need it but they won't do it. They are both overweigt and they have told me they need to lose weight but they won't do anything. One day I may be able to get them out there!!! MIL loves to go to the mall....

I am sorry to hear that your mom is not doing well....I will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully this nice weather (not today at least!) will help her!!!

Keep up the great work!!!

Have a wonderful day :)

Well done on yet another loss Amy
I hope your mum is doing ok
Food looks great :)
I'm keeping everything crossed for you to get that 30 lb star next week :goodvibes

Tracy: Here is the Pop report (the first four nights are Pop, then it switches to BWV/ASMU):
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1106915

Tracey: Defintiely keep it all crossed for me!

Jamie: Thanks so much, mall walking is great. My parents started doing it about 10 years ago and my mom lost about 50 pounds. If she hadn't been doing that walking to get in better shape no way could she have survived her cancer a few years later. Tell your in laws to try it for a week, they might get hooked. And my parents have made wonderful friends there.

So I walked today. Stepdad reported my mother got up early saying she knew I was coming and knew I would yell at her if she didn't! So that was a blessing. I took my son with me and I think that made her even more wanting to go. I got in 45 really good minutes and bought some Disney Dollars when I was done!

Food today:
Breakfast: Atkins Shake (3)
Lunch: Taco Bell, burrito and nachos (18 total)
Dinner: Salad with shrimp and lf cheese, 2 T lf dressing: (5)
Snack: Pudding: (2)
Total: 28 (two flex points used)

My conference went very well. The teacher was extremely positive about ds, said he is extremely respectful, sweet, smart and hard working. She said he has some catching up to do and that she is confident he will be able to do that by year end. So it was really nice to have that positive time with her. Just more evidence we did the right thing. So I told ds I would take him to lunch and he picked Taco Bell (God love him). I got two things, half of what I used to order and it was quite tasty. And now quite out of my system so that is good!

I must say mall walking is sometimes a challenge. Every morning I smell Mrs. Field's, Cinnabon, Chick Fil A, Burger King and pass the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory kiosk with all its temptations. So far have only bought one Diet Dr. Pepper and some calorie free Disney Dollars! I really like it, its level, and I can window shop. I find it very mindless and it goes really quickly. And if it helps get my mom out the door, all the better! Thanks for reading, I have Alzheimer's Support Group tonight and need to go shower and change so I probably won't get to journals until tonight or tomorrow!

Hi Amy,

That is great that your son is doing such a good job in his new school.....Sounds like he is enjoying it too!!

Ya know the excuse that I get from the inlaws, or at least my MIL is that they are pushing 60, they can't do those things anymore!!! She is nuts sometimes. I will keep pushing her to get out and mall walk, I know she would enjoy it, and if your mom lost 50 pounds, she can too!!! That is great by the way!!!

Hope your meeting last night went well!

Have a great day! And enjoy the wonderful weather we are suppose to have this weekend

Good morning everyone. I need to amend my food from yesterday. I came home starving last night after group so I ended up having some pasta (5) and a WW ice cream cone (2). So that means I have now used 9 flex points total.

Alz. group went well and yet it somehow always makes me stressed and somewhat depressed. I didn't eat the refreshments brought (mini muffins that were pure fat and sugar and cheese and crackers) but came home and what I wanted that I could count the points on. Thursday seems to be my day to overeat a bit but since its early in my week thats okay.

Today is being spent with my mother, we will have lunch out hopefully I can survive that! Don't even know what I will eat, I am not hungry or in the mood to be honest to be having lunch out. Tonight my husband and I are actually going out just us, I told him I needed Rumbi Grill so I could have my jerk ceaser salad fix for a total of like 9 points. Also that way we can avoid a restaurant that serves drinks and more fattening and expensive food. Then we are seeing a movie, so I will hopefully be able to resist popcorn. If not I still have 24 flex points left to use.

Jamie: My mother was around 60 when she began exercising for the first time in her life! She never wanted to do anything like that and resisted my stepdad's urging to walk and get in better shape. She ended up loving it and as I said, I do think losing the weight and getting stronger saved her life. Maybe your mil will do the same! If not, at least you tried to suggest something! Thanks for your support. And I was very happy about the school scenario with ds, things are really good now and I am so relieved! Thanks for all your good thoughts.

Hi Amy
Good news about DS :)
You deffinatly did the right thing!
Hope you survived lunch;)

 Amy,

Thanks for the trip report! I will read it tonight after I finish journals.:goodvibes

I am so glad to hear that your DS's conference went well!:goodvibes

You are doing such a wonderful job getting your exercise in and staying OP.... That star will be yours soon, Amy!:woohoo:

As always, prayers and :wizard: for you and your mom.

By the way, we bought some Disney Dollars too! Great minds think alike!:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful weekend, Amy!

Hi Wish Friends:

This weekend has been okay. I haven't really been tracking my food as I should. I think I am still within points and hopefully haven't used all my flex points yet. I have not exercised, my allergies are so bad I am miserable. I can't remember them ever being this bad so soon in the year. I guess our warm weather is the culprit!

Friday: Had lunch with my mom, did so so, ate too much so I skipped dinner. I did have some popcorn at the movie with dh but that was all.

Saturday: Did okay, had 2.5 Coors Lights for a total of 5 flex points. Also made shrimp skewers and veggie kabobs on the grill for a very low point dinner. I wisely sent only dh over to my mom's to pick up the kids since I knew she had Krispy Kreme's on hand. And dh, bless his heart refused to take home the leftovers she kept trying to pawn off on him. Gotta love my mom, never too out of it to try to overfeed me! She also sent home some candy that dh threw out. I am thankful he looks out for me like he does!

Today: Had lean burgers off the grill and some baked fries. I think we are going to Baskin Robbins pretty quick here. DD got a ice cream cone coupon for a valentine that is about to expire. Not sure how that will turn out for me!

Have been good with water all weekend. And I may try to walk on the treadmill tonight if I can wake up. This stupid allergy medicine knocks me out. Have just felt sluggish all day.

In all, a pretty decent weekend. Not as good as I should have been but not as bad as I could have been.

Tracey: Thanks, the good conference has really helped me to feel good about the decision. It was tough one to make midyear but I think it was the right thing to do.

Tracy: My trip reports are generally boring, so feel free to unsubscribe to it! Thanks for the good thoughts with my mom, hope your mom is doing better.

Sounds like you did a good job this weekend Amy!:thumbsup2

I hope you start feeling better soon... My allergies haven't started acting up yet, but that's probably because the weather hasn't been cooperating yet. ;)

I really enjoyed reading your trip report!:goodvibes Thanks for the link!:thumbsup2

Hope you have a great week ahead!

Hi Amy,

The weather here this weekend was great!!! A great weekend to get out an BBQ..sorry to hear about your allergies though. That makes it tough to enjoy the nice weather.

Your DH is too sweet, not bringing home any donuts!!! What a guy!!

Sounds like you had a great weekend all the way around...your food looked good and way to go on skipping the goodies at your meeting.

Keep up the great work!!!

Have a great day :)

warm weather??
BBq??
We've got months before we get anything close to that :(
I need to emigrate!
Your food looked great at the weekend, & weekends are the hardest i find - so well done :)
Have a great week & i hope your allegies calm down!

Hello everyone!

Today has been very good. I woke up with a terrible migraine, probably brought on by eating chocolate ice cream late last night, and my allergies. I took my medicine and just dealt with it. I did have the ice cream last night but only ate half (got chocolate almond). So that turned out to be around 4 points, not a bad splurge at all. Food today:

Breakfast: All Bran w/ 2tb walnuts: (4)
Snack: pudding (2)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine (4) Squash soup (1)
Snack: pudding (2) pudding helped my stomach which was acting up due to migraine medicine.
Dinner: Burrito (6) salad (1)
Haven't actually eaten dinner yet but I already made it so I already know. Total: 20
6 points under, no idea if or what I will eat something else to bring that total up.
Exercise: 25 really fast minutes on the treadmill. I walked as fast I could, around 4 miles per hour for five minutes, then a two minute breather at around 3.5 per hour. Considering when I started walking I could only do 3.0 per hour I am pretty happy with that result. I also ran around cleaning house, ran through Target very fast like some sort of insane woman and took Daisy for a short walk.

I had some sort of weird, sad stress today. A bit of a dumb situtation. My two best friends and I had a falling out about two years ago. The one gal and I had been best friends since 6th grade. The other was a friend from college, who actaully introduced me to my dh. I introduced them awhile back, they have kids the same age and I thought it would be great if they got to know each other etc. They now live only a few doors apart and are inseparable. Long story short, I am out of the loop, party because they want nothing to do with me and partly because I know that both of these friendships were not healthy and it was better to make a clean break. These two were both my eating buddies, no surprise that since we parted ways I have lost 30 pounds! We see each other all the time, our kids go to the same school. Sometimes when I see them walking home, I get a bit of a twinge of sadness and that happened today. We used to be so close now its just a wave and a Christmas card with one (my friend of 30+ years) and nothing at all from the other one (who apparently really hates my guts since she basically goes to great lengths to avoid me). I really don't let this bother me all that often but today I guess I was feeling a bit vulnerable. My first instinct was to get a coke and some fries from McDonald's but I did not. But it just left me feeling strangely off and upset. DD was in the car and asked me why my old friends don't like me anymore. I told her women can be complicated. How silly this whole thing and very immature on their part, the one in particular. I guess women can just be weird sometimes, myself included. Don't know why I am writing about this, guess its better to write it down than eat it away right? I know one thing, having women friends is not high on my list of priorities anymore, too much d**n trouble!

My mom is no longer depressed but rather just angry at the whole world. Very, very nasty and hateful to me and stepdad in particular. Stepdad said he sometimes feels like slapping her. This coming from a man who under normal circumstances would never say or feel such a thing. Got his call (he was very near tears of frustration and sadness when he called me and there was nothing I could do which I HATE) just before I saw my two former best friends. That may have had something to do with my reacting to that the way I did. Oh well, this too shall pass. Either my mom will snap out of it (or get slapped out of it ;) ) or she won't. I can't let it keep making me crazy! I told stepdad to have a Scotch and go off and do something by himself, like read or listen to music with the door closed. And maybe warn the old lady she might get slapped if she doesn't back off!

Thanks for listening!

Jamie: The weather is so beautiful right now. I hope it lasts!

Tracy: Glad you liked the trip report. There wasn't a whole lot about Pop in there but I must say I do love that resort. Hope you do too!

Tracey: Here in Colorado we often get an early spring teaser followed by huge snowstorms. March is actually our snowiest month. So we bbq one weekend and maybe dig our way out the next!

Aren't the allergies this year AWFUL!!! Here, too! Everyone is miserable!

I remember being snowed in in Co. Springs about 3 years ago in mid APRIL!!! Yes, you can get LOTS of snow in the spring up there. ICK!!!!

Congrats about the TM time! It's an awesome feeling to see progress, isn't it??

Sad about your friends - friendships are hard & sometimes very painful. Many times they don't seem worth the trouble. (This from a real loner!)

I'll be praying about your mom situation. Very hard to deal with, I'm sure.

Hang in there! Enjoy the warmth - I understand it's about to change....again!!

 Amy,

I'm sorry to hear about the situation with your friends.... I hope you know how much all of your WISH sisters value and appreciate you for who you are. You're a wonderful friend, Amy!

Prayers continue for your mom.... My mom went through that last time she was in the hopsital...She was very, very angry. :( I hope your mom starts feeling better soon.

It sounds like you have had some great weather out that way.... Care to share with us in Ohio? ;) :rotfl:

Have a great day!:cool1:

OK, note to myself - KEEP UP WITH AMY'S JOURNAL!! I missed WAY too much while I was away!!

First of all, CONGRATS on the loss!!! :yay: :cool1: :woohoo: 4 weeks in a row is AWESOME!

Secondly, I'm sorry to hear about your mom's tough time, I hope she snaps out of her depression/angriness soon (without a visit from the slap-fairy!). :wizard:

Thirdly, forget about your ex-friends, they sound like a couple of petty wenches and you don't need people like that in your life.

Fourthly (?), yay for the excellent report on DS! You now have proof (not like you needed it) that you made the right decision to switch schools.

How did your WI go yesterday? I bet you are even closer to that 30lb star, if you don't have it already!!!
