Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

AWESOME weigh-in!!!!!!! I bet you will have an equally impressive WI next week when TOM leaves you alone!!! :woohoo: :yay:  :cool1:

Bummer about the dressing, but that's what flex points are for, right?? And look at you go, you got bumped down to the next set of points, I would imagine that is quite an achievement, right?? You are on your way, there is nothing to stop you now!

Keep up with your planning and diligence, you are well on your way to meeting the goal you set for this summer.

Hello everyone. I haven't posted since Thursday unfortunately. We have had car problems AGAIN, which hit an all time low when I basically broke down this morning on my way to ds' school open house and bake sale. Thankfully I was very close to home. Dh and I have been so sick and tired of dealing with our minivan, its 8 years old and has 118K miles so we decided enough is enough. We just put around $800 into it on December and now this. So we ended up buying a new car which I so didn't want to have to do. Suddenly in the last month we have added tuition, bought some new furniture and now a new car. :scared: . But I guess it will all work out. And it is such a relief to have reliable transportation for me and the kids. And now we can take the new car to CA this summer as opposed to dh's Toyota Corolla which would not have been fun for four people for two weeks. But man, I have not had a car payment for over four years so this is going to be not fun.

Food has been pretty good. I have now used 20 of my 35 flex points. Most of that from eating pizza and ice cream the other night when you guessed it, I was stressed!

I am too tired to list all my food but its been pretty good. Today was oatmeal for breakfast, a 100 calorie pack of cheetos for a snack and a french dip sandwich and some fries for dinner. I had nothing between 10 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. I did manage to resist the donuts and candy they offered me at the dealership. And picked a french dip over a burger at dinner when we ate out. Maybe tomorrow I can get a walk in and eat some veggies!

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I am off to bed where I will have nightmares about car payments!

Hi Amy
Sounds like you did the best thing with the car, hopefully you wont have to spend any extra cash on it now so that will help meet the payments :)
Well done for staying within your point :)

Good about WI, Bad about the car!

But, maybe a new one is for the best - but I, too, dread the payments. We just got our van paid off & I hope it lasts awhile!

Have a great week! At least you shouldn't have car issues this week!

Hello everyone. This was a very good weekend food wise, the best I have had in quite some time. I survived a total of three restaurant meals, one of which was a buffet. On that one (this was on Friday) I just stuck to meat and salad, I did have a half cup of mashed potatoes but skipped all the pastas, rolls, breads, and desserts. I didn't exercise at all, that is something I really need to bump up quite a bit. As part of the Bob Greene book I am reading, I am allowing myself to gradually make changes with exercise. I have been exercising at least twice a week but this means I need to bump up my exercise gradually, and get to a higher stage of exercise. So my goal this week is to exercise a total of 100 minutes between Monday and Friday. That should not be too hard and since I am feeling very comfortable and confident with my food, I feel very ready to take this a step further.

Food today:
Breakfast: Cherry Danish, 8 oz skim milk: 7
Lunch: Chicken Sandwich: 8
Dinner: Crab Dip with one and half cups veggies, (4), 5 pieces of popcorn shrimp (1), Crackers (1), V8 (1), Egg Roll (4), Orange (1),
Snack: Fiber One with skim: 1
Total for the day: 28 (2 flex points used, 13 remaining
Water: 64 oz, one diet coke, one cup herbal tea

Tracey: Now that I am resigned to a car payment and I am pretty happy with my decision. Its been nice not having a car payment but now its nice to have a new, reliable car!

Julie: Enjoy your paid off van, I got almost four years off of mine once it was paid off and I must say it was heavenly while it lasted!

Hi Amy,

Sounds like you did a great job this weekend, WISH sis!:grouphug: Is the Bob Greene book you're reading the one that was featured on Oprah? I just picked up my copy yesterday at the library.:)

I'm sorry to hear about the car issues.... They can be a pain can't they? We were just talking to my BIL the other day and his 1990 Chevy something or other is still running! That car is 17 years old! I was surprised to say the least. Enjoy your new car, Amy :drive: and don't worry... God will provide!:goodvibes

Hope you have a wonderful week!:goodvibes

Hi Amy
Well done for staying on track with your food & resisting temptation in the restaurants - thata what i call will power!! :)
Have a great week

Hello Wish friends, I was hungry all day today! I ended up doing very well, but I did have to use three more flex points to get through the day. And I am still hungry but I am cutting myself off! I also walked on the treadmill today as well as taking a short walk with the puppy. So I got my 30 minutes in which was very nice. Today was so hectic, I had a ton of errands to do, some things to handle for my parents, cleaned up the house, made a nice dinner, did laundry, I am pooped! But really proud of myself for not snacking mindlessly and staying out of the kids ice cream sandwiches (their treats for the week). Today's food:

Breakfast: Oatmeal, 4
Lunch: Salad made with one cup romaine and one cup spinach, with 1/4 cup lowfat cheese, 3 oz. of chicken and two tablespoons lowfat dressing and 18 Mr. Crispers for a total of: 7
Snack: ff/sf pudding with 1.5 TB chopped Walnuts: 3
Second Snack: All Bran w/ 1/2 cup milk: 1
Third Snack, Slim Fast Bar with 8 oz of skim: 5
Dinner: chicken breast with pasta: 10, one cup broccoli (0)
Total for the day: 29
Water: 64 oz., one cup of tea and two diet pepsi's.

I still have 10 flex points but am hoping to not use any tomorrow since its my last day before weigh in.

Tracey: It did take some willpower to survive a buffet and avoid the dessert table. Not sure how often I could do that again!

Tracy: Yes, that is the book that was on Oprah recently. I have read all of his books, this one so far is my favorite, he is a little more lenient with his overall approach. I really like him and think his books are great. I got mine at Sam's for $13, given my recent major purchase, I should have gone to the library like you!

You are doing a great job, Amy!:thumbsup2

I read the Bob Greene book yesterday and I like the simplicity of it. I think I may take bits and pieces of his plan and try them out. :goodvibes

When you went to WDW and stayed at Pop, did you do a trip report? I've been reading your posts in Tracey's journal and would love to hear more about it since we'll be staying there in September.:goodvibes

Hope you have a great day!:cool1:

Wow Amy your are doing great with that will power :)
Well done for getting some exercise in too :)
Have a magical week!

Congrats on the awesome food week!!! And don't worry, all the junk you "could have" eaten didn't go to waste, it went in (and ON) my belly! :confused3

Cool on the new car, too! It is so important to have reliable transportation, especially when you are carting kids around all the time. Bummer that it was an unplanned expense, but I bet you will be amazed that things magically work out financially. ::yes::

You are doing great, I am so proud of you!! :cool1:

Hello all, I weighed in today and was down 2.6. I was really happy, I am almost down to what I was before the cruise in September. I really feel like I am back in the groove and on my way again. I should be getting my 30 pound star at WW in the next few weeks (I am 27.6 as of today). That will be good, to refresh I got that in September but the weigh in lady didn't add right, so I never officially received it and then began to gain :sad2: . So now I am double checking their math and keeping better track! I am also pleased to have lost 7 pounds since January 8 when I started back up again. I really hope I can keep this up! Food has been good yesterday and today. Dh and I are having our Rumbi Grill tonight and I have already planned on having my salad. I so want to be at 45 pounds by June (18 pounds to go in the next 14 weeks). But then again, I don't want to get ahead of myself like I typically do only to end up off my goal and more discouraged than ever.

I am too lazy to post yesterday's food, but here is today:
Breakfast: All bran w/ 2TB walnuts: 4
Snack: pudding: 1
Lunch: Soup (1) Lean Cuisine (4)
Snack: apple (1)
Dinner: Salad (8) Chips (3)
Total: 22 I am four points under so I need to add another snack in somewhere along the line.

Tracy: I like the Bob Greene book too, I also am just incorporating it into what I am already doing. I have stayed at Pop twice, I did a trip report for the second stay, I'll dig it up and give you the link. That was a combo Pop/BWV/ASMU trip. But Pop is first so you can just read that part!

Tracey: Thanks for your support!

Amy: I am proud of me too for a change of pace! And having a reliable car is a must, I also have my other two kids to cart around (that would be mom and stepdad ;) ). So that meant a six seater that gets me where I need to go. And there's room for Daisy as well!

Great job at WI, Amy!

Glad you're adjusting to the car payment idea & liking it!

Have a great rest of the week!

Weigh to go, Amy!:cool1: :cool1: Congratulations on your weigh-in! You are doing a wonderful job... Keep up the good work and you WILL make that goal!:cheer2:

Have a great day today!:cool1:

Thank you Julie and Tracy!

Well today was okay except I did manage to plow through 20 of my flex points by eating pizza and some ice cream. The good news is that I took a very brisk 45 minute walk today. I actually went to the mall with my parents, broke off from them and did my own thing. I was about the youngest person there! This mall opens 2 hours early for walkers and since its located very near a lot of senior living places (including the one my parents live in) it fills up with them fast! I came home and cleaned like crazy and just got too tired to cook so we had pizza.

I think I got depressed today, my mom is not doing well, she is really depressed and slipping again and its tough to see. I went over there today per stepdad's plea and drug her butt out the door. It helped her. But I had that nagging feeling all day worrying about her so I overate. Just goes to show you I am not there yet! But thats what flex points are for. But that leaves me only 15 for the rest of the week but that should be doable.

I did enjoy the walk and might start doing that a couple of days a week. I have been a bit neglectful of my parents lately with all of this stuff going on with my son and the car issue. And it shows, she is needing some TLC. And poor stepdad looks like he's on the brink too. Its always something! But by walkign with them, that makes them feel like I am being more hands on and I an get some activity in as well. So we all win.

I need to catch up with journals, thanks for reading mine!

 Amy,

I am sorry to hear about your mom. I know from experience how hard it can be to see a parent (s) struggling with depression. Maybe once the weather improves, that will help. I am sending prayers and :wizard: for both of you today.

I wouldn't worry too much about the pizza and ice cream. That's what flexpoints are for... You're still OP and you managed a 45 minute walk as well. Good job, Amy!:thumbsup2

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!:goodvibes

Congrats on the loss, that is AWESOME!!! :yay: :cheer2: :cool1:

Don't worry about the pizza and ice cream, that's what flex points are for. And you got it out of your system early, so it will not affect your WI next week!!

Sorry to hear about your mom, I'm sure that is very difficult to deal with. Try to focus that worrysome/nervous energy into something besides food. I have been taking out my stress on the treadmill and it is much better because I never feel guilty afterwards!!

You are doing so great, keep it up!

 Hi Amy, i hope your mom is feeling a little better
Congrats on the loss
Whatever your doing keep doing it :goodvibes
I'm sure the walk will have cancelled out most of the pizza :)
Have agreat weekend

Hello Wish Friends:

This weekend went well, I did particularly well on Saturday. Dh and the kids wanted some goodies on Saturday night, I said fine and got myself my favorite salad to go at Rumbi Grill and enjoyed that instead. I am completely addicted to their Jerk Chicken Caeser salad and its not bad at all points wise. Sunday was fine food wise but I did end up having four rum and diet cokes! I had the points but we'll see how that works out on my weigh in on Wednesday ;) .

Today was good, I was super busy but managed to stay within points. I got very stressedtonight and was wanting to graze but took a hot bath instead. Which meant telling the kids to leave me alone so I could have a few minutes to myself. 0 points for that splurge!

Tomorrow I will mall walk with my parents and then clean their house. I have planned an easy dinner since I know I"ll be wiped out when I get home. Just really trying to preplan and not get myself backed into corners I can't get out of with my food!

Tracey: I hope the walk cancelled out the pizza, the scale will tell all!

Tracy: I know you know about this stress with mom, thanks for your prayers. She is better, the weather has been nicer and I have been giving her lots of attention.

Amy: Thanks for the treadmill tip, I have been pretty good with it but really don't like the treadmill that much! It gets so boring! I have been cleaning away my stress the past few days, the house has never looked better and no points lost to stress eating!

You are doing awesome!!! I know you will have a great WI tomorrow too!

I also get bored to tears on the treadmill (more so on the elliptical) so I got myself a subscription to People Magazine and I only allow myself to read it when I am on a cardio machine. It makes the 45 min go by really fast, plus 1 magazine usually lasts for 3 workouts, then magically another one appears in the mail... I have been doing this for almost 2 years now, I love the mindless reading and it is stapled, so it stays flat on the console (not like the monthly magazines that have a thick binding). Maybe you can find something like that to keep you occupied so you don't get so bored.

Great job keeping yourself busy with cleaning instead of snacking!!
