Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

Congrats on the loss!!!! :cheer2: :cool1:  :yay: I bet you will definitely show another loss next week after all the planning you are doing this week! It WILL become a habit soon and you will wonder how you ever survived without all the detailed menus and such!

I'm glad you had some quality time with your leader, I bet that really got you back into the right mindset. I would be like the clothes-changing lady. Or else I'd weigh myself in the exact same outfit every week! :rolleyes1

You are doing awesome, I bet with a couple great weeks of eating you will catch up and reach your goal.

Congrats on the loss!!! :cheer2:  :cheer2:  1 lb is a good, healthy loss that will be gone forever now! Great job with the menu planning and getting the shopping done. Amy is right. I'll bet you show a loss again next week too.

I'm glad you are finally feeling better. Take it easy and don't try and do too much too fast (words to live by:rotfl: ). I hope DS is feeling 100% soon too and nobody else gets any ickies.

Have a great rest of the week!:thumbsup2

:cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:
Well done on the loss Amy :goodvibes
Your WW leader sounds a real good person :thumbsup2
I may have to take some of your ideas & start planning my meals too!
Have a great weekend :)

Day Two of my new week and still doing well. Friday night, I am done eating for the day and I have yet to use one Flex Point! Very unusual ;) .

Yesterday I stayed within points, made me lowfat chicken enchilada casserole and got all my water in. I was a bit high on carbs due to some snacking, legal in points but too many carbs. But I am getting there.

Today was my day with my mom. She wanted to go to her favorite Mexican for lunch and I said fine. You know, this is her one social, fun thing of th week and I just need to deal with it and let her eat where she wants. They serve Italian too and she loves the Fettucine Alfredo. I love to have a bite or two myself! So here is today:
Breakfast: Oatmeal (3)
Lunch: 1/2 roll (3) Chips and Salsa (5) Chicken Burrito (5) Rice (3)
Dinner: Sloppy Joe meat (4) French Fries (crinkle cut I baked no frying) (4)
salad (0)
Total for the day: 27 One point under for a Friday

Planning my meals is such a good thing. I have everything all worked out for the weekend. And no eating out scheduled, hopefully I can stick to that. Monday two friends are taking me out for my belated birthday lunch. I told them P.F. Changs or Chilis since I can get lettuce wraps at either.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Amy, Anna, and Tracey: I am happy with my one pound. I would rather lose slow than fast, especially after seeing that lady at my meeting who lost her 40 pounds so quickly and gained it all back. Been there, done that, don't want to do it again!

Congratulations on the 1 pound, Amy!:cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

That is great that you are planning your meals! :goodvibes When I plan my meals, I find that the week goes by much more smoothly and that I am able to stick to the plan and not eat out as much. I think I will follow your example and plan some meals this week.:goodvibes Thanks Amy!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!:goodvibes

Well done for staying within your point Amy :)
Sounds like the meal planning is working well.
Well done :)

Awesome sticking to your points even while eating out! And that is wonderful that you have all your meals planned for the weekend, you are setting the stage for success!!

I LOVE PF Changs lettuce wraps. I believe there is a chicken dish (I want to say Mango Chicken, but it's been a while) that is pretty low in calories and fat. Do your research before you go (they have all their nutritional info and menu online) and don't even look at the menu when you get there (or else you might be tempted to order something naughty!).

You are doing great and you are right - slow and steady wins the race! :thumbsup2

Well sorry I have been MIA all weekend. We had to paint the kids' rooms, I HATE to paint! It was a huge job, especially since our puppy Daisy decided to help! The kids new furniture is being delivered tomorrow and I am so glad. Its been a nightmare, I sold off their old stuff and for two weeks all of their clothes, books, dvd's etc is in bins, boxes or stacked on the floor. Finally my upstairs will look like something besides a garage sale!

Food this weekend overall was good. I did very well on Saturday, I made a very lean pork tenderloin; my parents came over since dd's girls group was performing at church that night. I did make a cherry pie and had a nice piece a la mode (with ff/sf ice cream at least). I figured in the points and ended up using about one third my flex points that day. Then Sunday was fine until we forgot about dinner while we were painting and suddenly we were all starved. I didn't feel like my making my tuna casserole so let myself very easily be talked into Taco Bell. So there went another chunk of my flex points. I had about 7 of them left which I thought I would not use. I did eat out today for my birthday lunch, went to Chili's and got their lettuce wraps. Amy, I didn't look at the menu at all! But we got chips and salsa and I ate half the order which was six points and a bunch of salt I didn't need. I ate a very small amount of my tuna casserole so I came in about 7 points over today but still had the flex points.

I feel like I have had too much salt, I know the lettuce wraps were loaded with it in addition to the chips. And tuna is very salty. I need a perfect day tomorrow. Oh, and TOM is here making me feel bloated. I doubt I can get that off before my weigh in Wednesday. So I had a good week, did very well and felt very in control except for two occasions (chips at Chili's and Taco Bell). But I stayed in points and that felt very good. The scale will likely show nothing or even a small gain from water but I am weighing in anyway. Then maybe next week I can have a good solid loss!

I need to bump up my exercise. I got off with that with my toe (which is still purple and very nasty looking ) and being sick. I am always amazed at how easy it is to get out of the habit of exercising. I have been doing a bit but not like I need to. So now that I feel the food is back where it should be, I need to dedicate myself to exercising again.

Thanks for reading!

You are doing a great job with your food choices, Amy!:goodvibes Keep up the good work and add some exercise and that scale won't stand a chance... That scale IS going DOWN!

Have a great day!

Even though you didn't make the best choices, you counted the points and didn't go over! And no matter what that scale says tomorrow, you know TOM is bloating you and you had too much salt. And you also know that stuff will go away in a couple days, so don't even worry about it!! And I bet your WI will not be as bad as you think...

Is there any other option for you when the rest of the family wants Taco Bell? Could you stop by McDonalds and grab a salad for yourself instead?

Well done for staying within your points again Amy :)
I LOVE cherry pie & have been craving it for a while now :(
Keep up the great work & i'm sure the scale will go down next week :)

Despite it all, you've still done well, Amy! Birthday lunch at Chili's without looking at a menu is a HUGE win right there!

Have a great rest of the week! I bet the furniture will look AWESOME!!

Hi everyone. Well today went well with food although I did have some frozen yogurt. It has been a strange TOM, I hardly every crave or eat sweets, this past week I have had a piece of pie, some ice cream and one frozen yogurt. But I still stayed within points, in fact I didn't end up using all of my flex points. I spent most of the day rearranging the kids rooms and cleaning them very well. I am dog tired, I stayed up too late last night, TOM was making me feel miserable so I finally took some more advil and fell asleep about 1:00. But today, I have just been dragging. I did get a short walk in on the treadmill which was good. I am excited to go to WW tomorrow but less than enthused about my weigh in. TOM is such a pain. I have done really well all week but doubt I"ll show much in the way of a loss. Oh well, thats what next week is for!

As I reflect on the past week I am pretty proud. I was feeling a bit down yesterday when I posted but when I looked through my journal I saw that I did very well and made some really good choices. I also recalculated some things and realzied I had gone over on them which meant I had used less Flex points than I thought. I ended up using 28 of my 35 for the week. I did have the piece of pie, the ice cream and frozen yogurt and the chips and salsa but I stayed within points. I also got in a ton of fruits and veggies and really watched the snacking. And I did not buy peanut butter at the store and some other things I just knew would spell trouble. And more good news is that I cooked all nights but one this past week and tried several new recipes. All of which were a hit with the whole family. I know they get bored with my constant chicken this and that so it was good to show them some new things! Ds had to do a project for school recently tracking what he ate for a week. By far he was one of the best kids in his class, he said most of them ate fast food at least three times per week and most of them never had fruits or veggies. I realized that in spite of my struggle with food, I feed my family very well overall. So often I only think of the bad moments in my food life and not the good ones. I was feeling bad about the Taco Bell but realized its not feasible to never have a splurge or eat out. I figured in the points and got on with it, not letting it turn into something bigger. One thing I have been able to cut out for the most part in 2007 is drinking. I did go out that one night in January and have something like five Malibu and Diet Cokes but that has been it. That is something I am willing and able to do without, especially if it allows me to use my flex points for a food splurge. I really feel very good about things right now and know that if the scale doesn't show what I want, its not my fault I can blame my stupid ovaries!

Tracy: That scale needs to go down! I think if not this week, next week for sure since TOM will be a distant memory by next Wednesday.

Tracey: Cherry pie is not my favorite but I must say that one I made on Saturday was so good! And worth every point! And I never had any desire to eat the leftovers, in fact I threw the last piece out since nobody else wanted it either. I should have sent it to you!

Julie: The furniture does look good, I especially was glad to get ds' huge bunkbed out of there and put in something a bit more age appropriate.

Amy: Actually Taco Bell is a pretty good choice on WW. I had had a salad for lunch and didn't want another one so my two chicken tacos and half of a small order of nachos was not bad. It was when I polished off dd's pizza that I used up some flex points! But I guess that is what they are for.

OOOhhh Amy yes you should have sent me the pie!! I like it hot served with ice cream :)
I'm glad you are seeing the positives with your healthy eating/lifestyle :)
I hope the scale reflects how well you are doing - but if it doesnt it will be TOM's fault & i'm sure it will show next week instead :)

I love your positive attitude today!! :cool1: And I think you'll be much happier if you continue to focus on the positive instead of the negative.

I had no idea there was actually WW-friendly stuff at Taco Bell!! It's good that you can get stuff there and still be relatively healthy.

Not that it is important, but how did WI go?

Amy you are really back on track - great job! Life got in the way sometimes, but you made good choices and did well. That is a great accomplishment!! I hope WI was ok. You have a good attitude though and you know you will show a great loss next week when TOM is gone!

Have a great rest of the week!

Well I lost two pounds :cool1: ! That is the first time I have ever lost weight during TOM. I felt bloated a bit and was quite surprised but in a very good way. To celebrate I went to Sam's and bought some healthy food and the new Bob Greene book. I stopped at my bank first which is right across from a Winchelle's but resisted any urge to go in there! I was also proud of myself for going since it was 19 degrees and snowing like crazy when I left home. I really thought the scale would not be friendly today but made the effort to go and the joke was on me!

Food today:

Protein Bar: 4
Lean Cuisine: 8
Strawberry Smoothie: 3 (1 cup skim, 1/1/2 cups strawberries)
Dinner: Jerk Chicken Caeser Salad: (7) chips and salsa (2)
Snack: Mr. Crispers rice chips wi/ 1/2 cup fresh salsa (2)
Total: 26 1 fruit and four veggie servings. 80 oz. of water, one diet pepsi, two glasses of ice tea.

My points are now at 26 vs. 28. As you lose you get less food. Good news and bad news I guess!

I found about the Mr. Crispers at WW, they are very tasty. You can have 37 of them for 2 points, way less than baked chips or crackers. They are made with brown rice flour. They do have something like 20 carbs but I am okay with that. Way better than some of my other snack options.

Tracey: Next time I make pie, I"ll send you a piece. And I ate it warm with ice cream (sugar free, fat free at least ;) )!

Amy: Taco Bell has some decent things points wise. Their tacos, the chicken ones in particular, a tostada, a bean burrito, are all low in points and less than a fast food grilled chicken sandwich or small burger. I like to bring them home and add extra romaine lettuce. My WW leader is a Taco Bell addict and has kept off her weight for 13 years and has eaten Taco Bell at least once a week in the process. I like those odds! You do have to be careful however since obviously they have some seriously fatty, high point things. I like to send dh so I can't change my order at the last minute!

Anna: I do feel back on track for the first time in a very long time. I am just thankful that through this off track time, I have still managed to maintain the vast majority of my loss. Now I am ready to get some more lbs off!

Weigh to go, Amy!:cheer2: I am so proud of you! You are doing a great job with your eating and you have lost 2 pounds!:cheer2: Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

I need to amend yesterday's food. We had a huge ice storm yesterday, church was cancelled so instead of going directly to Rumbi Grill, dh picked it up for us (I had nothing for dinner out since I didn't know church was cancelled ). They messed up my order by putting the dressing on it instead of the side (forgot to check). So I didn't eat the chips to help with the points the dressing added. So I ended up with 28 points total for the day which means I used two flex points.

:cool1: :thumbsup2  :yay: :cheer2:
Well done Amy & on TOM week too :thumbsup2

I'm holding you to that cherry pie & i'm blaming you for the cherry filled pancake i had with ice cream last night ;) (NOT fat or sugar free :sad2: )

Keep up the great work :goodvibes
