Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

Today was good. I was hungry all day however! I mean physically hungry. I think the cold, rainy weather was to blame. I held it in but ate at the top of my points. I had too many carbs but oh well!

Breakfast: Atkins Shake (3)
Snack #1: cheerios w/skim (4)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine (6)
Snack #2: Cheese Its (3) Strawberries (1)
Snack #3: Soup (4)
Dinner: Hamburger Helper (4) Salad (1)
Total: 26

I think eating lunch at 10:45 a.m. set me up for a long afternoon! I am still hungry but out of points so I am just drinking water. I may have some sugar free jello since thats a zero point snack. I can't wait to wake tomorrow and eat breakfast! ;) .

Exercise: 45 minutes of Walk Away the Pounds. Too cold to walk outside esp., with the freezing rain thing. I missed my outdoor walk, maybe tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

I can't believe the nerve of that teacher! :furious: I'd talk to the principal if I were you. That is totally uncalled for. Let's do an annoying person swap. I'll come beat the crap out of that teacher for you, and you come beat the crap out of my ex-husband for me. That way it will look like a random act of violence, yet we will both feel better... (can you tell what kind of day I've had? )

You are doing awesome on your working out! :thumbsup2 And the stressful family lunch story had me cracking up (I know, not funny for you!). That is great that you are not giving into temptation and are staying within your points. I can't wait to see all your hard work paying off at this week's weigh in!

:rotfl2: I think there was a Law & Order episode like this :rotfl2:

Seriously, that teacher is really out of line making snide remarks in front of the class like that. I would cc the principal on your emails. Hopefully your email will take care of it.

You are doing a great job with your eating control and getting in great exercise. I am super immpressed!   Good for you doing the exercise video and not using the weather as an excuse. :thumbsup2 Even with your "hungry day" today you still kept it together. I had a day like that last week. Never did figure out what was going on, but the next day was better.

Again, you are really, really doing a great job. I think your WI this week will be a good one.

:sunny: I hate winter. Sending some sun your way ...

That's funny Anna! :rotfl:

Good morning Amy,

Yikes! What is up with the snarky teacher? :confused3 I think you should definitely talk to the principal or cc him/her on the e-mails. I don't understand this at all. Your DS has an A in the class and has caught up on his work... There shouldn't be a problem. :( I'm sending some :wizard: your way for this situation, Amy.

Way to go on getting your WATP workout in! I've been watching the forecast this week and they are predicting snow! Probably won't get my walk in those days. ;)

Have a great Tuesday, WISH sis! :grouphug:

I cant believe how unproffesional your DS's teacher is being!!!!!! How rude!!!
If you get a 'snotty'' reply be sure to print it off & take it to show her boss!
Food sounds good, weather doesnt!! :)

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I was pretty pi**ed at that teacher. She never responded back to my email. My son told me she brought her 4 year old to school yesterday and that the kid sat there and watched cartoons. On one hand I have no problem with this because I think our society does not make it easy for women, particularly single women to work and be a mom. She obviously had some daycare thing come up last minute. On the other hand, that is totally against district policy and I think it was probably distracting to have cartoons going and a four year old in a six grade class. I wouldn't do it but I'll bet some other parent ends up calling the school and griping. So she may be getting it one way or the other from the principle. She did tell my son he would get to keep the third project. I think she owes me an email to at least explain why she did that but I know she won't do it. Amy, I would gladly come beat the crap out of your ex! He sounds like he needs a good whippin and I have PMS from Hell so I am well equipped to do it!

I weighed this moring and was not down one pound. I have been really good all week and I was bummed. My offical WW weigh in is tomorrow, I need to go but I am not even feeling like it. If I had worked this hard when I was 30 I would be at goal now I'll swear. My old, hormone wacked body just doesn't cut me a break anymore. The 42 by 42 thing is so not happening. Honestly, no way could I work or be more diligent than I have been in the last week. If this happens (getting to goal) and I think it will, it will take a long time. The end of January it will be one year. Granted I have had a lot of slip ups and times when I didn't hit it as hard as I needed to. But I used to be able to do that and still lose consistently. No more! My first instinct was to go down and make myself a big plate of pancakes dripping with butter and syrup but I didn't. I drank my shake, walked my 3.4 miles in an hour and came up to the computer to vent to you all! Oh and I might add I froze my butt off walking since its 36 degrees outside. Lovely.

Lesson for the day: Lose it while you're young and DON'T let yourself get 100 pounds overweight. Its a hard, long road. Whining over.

I'll post my food later.

I have had so many of those weeks! You know you've done everything by the book yet the scale doesn't budge. It really isn't fair, is it? But you said it yourself - it is PMS time and that is always a bloating nightmare for most of us, so don't worry about it. Sometimes you won't show a loss when you work at it, but show a big one when you've screwed up. Just stay consistent and it will pay off. :cool1:

Great job getting that walk in! I was just marvelling at how wonderful the weather has been here - mid-80's and :sunny: PERFECT! So I guess you will just have to walk to AZ on your next outing...

Thanks Amy. I know you do understand! It is so frustrating but I can't let it get me down. I have to keep moving forward no matter what, I just can't give up and throw in the towel now.

Today's food:
Breakfast: Atkins Shake (3)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine, pudding (7)
Snack: ff/sf yogurt (2), 3 oz. ff turkey (2)
Dinner: Shake n Bake chicken breast (7), stuffing (4)
No fruits or veggies today. Drank plenty of water at least. Somedays I just can't seem to choke down any veggies and fruits can really wreak havoc with my stomach problems due to the high acid content.
Points for the day: 25 (one point under)
Exercise: 60 minute walk.

I had a stressful afternoon and evening. Ds has two big tests and three projects all due this week. He cried tonight he was so frustrated and I about joined him. I think he'll have to skip church tomorrow night but I hesitate because its the one thing he truly looks forward to all week and he never wants to miss. I hate making these no win decisions!

Hi Amy,
Sorry the scale isnt working properly :)
Sometimes your hard work doesnt show straight away. You did the right thing by not giving in & eating those pancakes (that sound lovely by the way :))
Have a good day
Tracey

Morning WISH sis,

I hear ya about the scale thing... I've been on my WISH journey for two years now and am nowhere near the goal I made for myself way back when. I have had many ups and downs too. Sometimes I get to a point where I won't even weigh myself because I don't want to know where I am at. A few months ago, I heard someone say that scales belong on fish only. :teeth: I wholeheartedly agree! :thumbsup2

Amy, I know the scale has you down, but just think of all of the positive changes you have made in your life... You are making better food choices and you are exercising. That is half the battle right there! Sure, some days we will slip up and some days we will feel like giving up, but Amy, you are doing such a great job and you're doing that great job while you are under a ton of stress. You are an amazing, strong woman, Amy! Please do not let the scale tell you anything different!

Keep on keeping on WISH sis! You are doing great! :cheer2:

Be glad that your DS is actually doing his work! Mine has really just blown off school this year. It's amazing that he is in the gifted program but getting D's and F's. At least his behavior is excellent this year! What a trade-off... Let your DS go to church, it is the one thing he loves and you shouldn't punish him by not letting him go. He sounds like he is working hard in school and should be able to go do something he enjoys, even if it takes an hour away from school work. Hang in there!

You are doing great staying within your points and getting those workouts in! :cheer2: That scale will go down eventually, just give it time.

Hang in there! Even though the scale did go down for me this week, I do understand your frustration. It is possible the PMS is holding you back too. Maybe next week will be better. This aging thing definitely stinks. I told DH I have to fight so hard for every single pound. But it is one lb and then it is another 1 lb. They all add up eventually (albeit slowly!) Don't throw in the towel yet on the 42 by 42. The point isn't really to get to 42, but to have a goal to shoot for and to make healthy choices toward that goal.

Hard call with DS. If it would be a good break/motivator for him, then maybe let him go to church. How about, if you can get X accomplished by the time for church (and let him decide what X should be with you having veto power, of course.), then you can go. Good Luck.

Great job getting a walk in. 36!??!?!!? :cold: It cooled off here this week - dropped below 70 one day - time to pull out the long sleeves and pants. :rotfl2: You are a braver woman than me to walk in that weather. :worship:

Here's :wizard: for a better rest of the week.

Thanks so much everyone! I love the motivation and understanding you all give to me, it really does help! PMS has now evolved into TOM (which is probably TMI). Thank goodness really, I was afraid this would be another month of three weeks of PMS but a skipped TOM month. My cycle is crazy and its making me crazy! In any case this should help me to lose some of the water. I literally could not get my wedding ring on this morning. Got a ton done, did not walk the full hour but did WATP for 30 minutes instead. Which in a way is good since it incorporates weights which I need to do. I did take ds to church. He came home and we cranked for two and half hours. He got a quick sandwich and some soup down for dinner and is now back home and working with dh. I have to laugh. The school sends home these guidlines for building assets. Religous training, sports, exercise, family time, etc. all help build a healthy, well adjusted kid. Yeah I know that, I just don't have time to have my kid do all that because of all the DUMB HOMEWORK you people assign. Ds said he is not doing basketball because he doesn't want to give up church and time riding his bike in the afternoons. I was bummed but he's right. Good for him to know his limits and want to do a few things right instead of too many things half a**ed. Took me 40 years to learn that! He is also small for his age and would probably hardly ever get to play anyway. Ahhh, its always something!

Food today:
Breakfast: Atkins (3)
Snack: French toast sticks (4) (cannot seem to get my mind off of pancakes with syrup so I had these, hopefully the craving will be gone now!)
Lunch, soup (4), cheese and crackers (6)
Snack: WW ice cream bar (2)
Dinner: Jerk Caeser salad w/ dressing on the side and no sauce (9)
Total: 28 (2 flex points used)

Did not weigh in at WW today. I knew I was up and I just didn't feel like going. Opted to stay home and get stuff done. Sometimes I just don't feel like going so I didn't.

Hi Amy,

I can't believe that your DS's teacher won't let your cruise go. Man she is something else. I am sorry that you are going through this with her. Also sorry for your son....but good for you for sending/emailing a letter to her. Maybe then she will get the hint.

Congrats on getting your workout in....that is great!

You're doing a great job...keep up the good work!

Have a great day :)

Great job getting a good workout in :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: . I hear ya on the kid stuff too. We (DH and I) decided over the summer that as much as we wanted the kids to continue their piano lessons, something had to give in their schedules. It wasn't just the weekly lessons, but the 20-30 minutes of practice each night. They literally would have no down/play time at all. I really wish that DD11 would have continued for another year. She has some decent talent, but fact is, she doesn't love it and she would resent continuing lessons while her sister was not. :confused3 That was not a battle I wanted to fight this year.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your encouragment in my journal! I hope you know how much I appreciate you! :grouphug:

How is your weekend shaping up? Ours looks to be busy as usual..... I can't wait for vacation! :thumbsup2

Have a great Friday! :sunny:

Hi Amy,

How ya doin this mornin? Hope you are well....

Keep up the great work!!!

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Food is looking yummy :)
Your DS sounds like a very sensible & mature young man :)
You must be so proud of him - & yourself - for doing such a good job raising him :)

Hi Amy!

It sure does sound like you have quite the young man there. I don't think I would know my limits at that age....let alone now!! Do you have busy plans this weekend? I hope it's a good one, in whatever you're doing. Take care!

Thank you so much everyone, especially the nice comments about my ds. He is a good kid (I know I'm a bit partial) and being in middle school is a big adjustment for him and us. But today he is 12! I cannot believe it, where has the last 12 years gone? The last couple of days have been good with food. I have been super busy, getting ready for my son's birthday, shaping up the house for his family party tonight and just life in general. I have been getting my exercise in, I'm at 535/800 for October's challenge. The hour long walks have been good for my challenge and my outlook. Today I took dd 10 with me, she rode her bike. When we came home she announced I should be totally skinny soon if I walk like that very often! Scale has not budged, I am about ready to throw it away! Hoping that either TOM is still keeping water where it shouldn't or that maybe the last two weeks worth of exercise is building some muscle. Either way, I should see a loss soon right? Lordy I hope so! Tonight is my son's birthday dinner at Country Buffet (My family should buy stock in that place) and then cake back here. I'll do my best but the cake is smelling good in the oven as I type! I have been bad getting to journals the last couple of days, I'll get caught up with everyone tomorrow hopefully. Thank you again for all your support as always and have a good weekend!
