Amy's "BUT I'M NOT A RUNNER" Journal

Hi Amy!

Just wanted to say 'hello' and hope that you are having a great time in Williamsburg!! Any chance you are getting to Busch Gardens or maybe Jamestown also??

(marathon training is just two weeks away!!!)

Look forward to you returning and filling us in on the details ;)

Hey Amy-
Hope your having a ball on your trip! It takes committment to stay focused on exercise while traveling. I'm proud of you. Some how my focus always gets diverted to eating!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Keep it up girl! :goodvibes

Amy, you continue to amaze me. Your running progress is absolutely unbelieveable. I can only hope that someday, with inspiration like yours, I will be brave enough to begin.

Have a great rest of the week!

*knock knock*

Amy?

*grabs searchlight* Hello? Amy???

Hmmm...

Sure hope you weren't attacked by the colonials in Williamsburg...sucked into their colony...now you are there making sweaters from sheeps wool, or blowing intricate glass sculptures...or worshiping a star up on a hill (oops wrong place there).

Anyway...drop by...let us know how things are! We miss you!!

Oh yeah, aren't you getting ready for a vacation soon?? LOL!

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Ok OK...if I ever stop laughing (thanks Scott!!!).....I will post about my training. Thanks for checking up on me guys :).

Marathon Training Has Begun!!! :goodvibes

So finally I'm at the beginning of official marathon training! The schedule isn't going to be much different from what I've been doing except that there's an additional run built into the week. I am hoping to continue with 2 days of KBX...but that will remain to be seen as the weeks progress and the long runs get longer! But this week should look something like.....

Monday: Ran 4.1 in 40 minutes. I believe that's about a 9:45 mpm or something like that! Also trying to do crunches and push-ups after the weekday runs.

Tuesday: KBX (75 minute class)

Wednesday: 40 minute run

Thursday: 40 minute run

Friday: KBX (60 minute class)

Saturday: 5 Mile Run

Sunday: rest (gonna need it!!!)

So I'm leaving for THE WORLD on Friday :). Will be VERY interesting to see how I get my runs and XT fit into my park touring schedule. I am committed to sticking with the plan. I've been away a bunch this summer and managed to run and xt. I wasn't as "on plan" as I'd like but managed at least 4 days of exercise a week even while away so I'm hoping that trend will continue now that it REALLY counts!!! Wish me luck with that ;).

My last few runs have been really good so I'm heading into official training feeling much better about where I am physically. I ran 6 miles in 61:30 this weekend and ran 4 miles in 36:56 last Thursday. I just hope that my body can withstand the training...I know my heart is in it 100%. This marathon is definitely one of the most significant events in my life and I'm so happy to be on this leg of the journey at last. I know I'm heading towards something really big and it's so very exciting! I will continue to post to stay accountable and look for inspiration. I will try to check in with everyone's journals before I leave :). Once back home from Disney, I'm here for the duration until I leave for the marathon in January...it will be really nice to settle into this schedule and ride the roller-coaster of training through the fall and into the winter ;). One thing is for sure, I'm ready for cooler running temps! :sunny: Remind me of that when I'm complaining of the cold LOL.....remind me of how awful it was to run in 100 degree humid weather ;).

OK...once again...a huge thanks to everyone who reads this and sticks with me throughout. :grouphug:

Hey Amy! I'm so glad to hear all of your training is going well! You are going to do SO great in this marathon!!!

Have a wonderful time at WDW. When we were there I saw a ton of people running around the Boardwalk area. I was actually jealous of them. I knew I didn't feel good enough to run...but it was just the perfect location. Have a great time with it!

I'm with you...wanting that cooler weather to run in!!

Enjoy your trip and have a BLAST!! We'll be here waiting to hear all about it when you get back!

Good morning Amy,

Your training sounds like it's going really well! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

I hope you and your family have a wonderful time in WDW! :Pinkbounc

Hi Amy :)

I just want to say WAY TO GO!! I'm so proud of you for getting to the beginning of training :) Take a look back at how far you've come, and how your dedication enabled you to continue your progress even with being away on vacation so much! I certanly admire your commitment and hard work. Great job kiddo!

I hope you have a wonderful time in WDW!! I can't wait to hear from you when you return...and good luck with getting all of the training in, you are gonna be one tired woman at the end of each day ;) Make sure you get the proper rest...don't do your body more harm than good :)

Less than 20 weeks to go now until one of the most significant and life-changing weekends you'll ever have...buckle your seat belt...it's gonna be a heck of a ride :)

Nice to see you back and I hope you have a FANTASTIC vacation!

Hi Amy!!!

I hope you're having a GREAT time at WDW (as if you wouldn't ;))!

Take care and I can't wait to hear about it when you get home!

Hi, Amy!! Hope you're having a splendiferous time at WDW!!!

Yeah Amy...I second Kim's thoughts....hope you are having a GREAT time in WDW!!!

We totally expect a full detailed trip report including, but not limited to:
exercises and runs completed and where, a photo slide show in chronological order so it's easy to follow, a list of what resorts you stayed in,a description of every place you ate..what time you ate and what you had to eat, a detailed list of rides ridden along with relevant wait times and post ride photo scans, a brief statement about the condition that each park was in including rides that were down or running exeptionally well, a report on CM friendliness, a cost anaylsis of snack items purchased in resorts vs. in the parks, a summary of the temperatures broken down by the hour with actual temps along with the ReelFeel temps, and most importantly....a paragraph or two about why you didn't say goodbye to us before leaving :(

:rotfl: :lmao: :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl:

In all seriousness...I hope you are having a GREAT WEEK!! We miss you so much and can't wait for your return!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Love it, Scott. You're planning on doing all of that on your trip too, right? :teeth:

Yes Kim, I'll make sure to include all of those details ;)

Amy.....heard there was a depression in Orlando (of the Tropical kind)....fully looking forward to hearing about the run in the high winds and torrential downpours...I mean, really..not gonna let a silly hurricane interfere with your marathon training are you??

(sorry I'll stop hijacking your journal for now)

Hi, Amy! Hope you are having a great time and that you've had an opportunity to explore some of the wonderful running paths around the world.
Be sure to come back and tell us all about it soon!

Hi Guys

So yes I'm here at WDW....y'all found me :teeth: (notice the y'all for Scott, our southern boy there). Soooooo hijacking my journal eh! That's ok...keeping my journal from slipping into oblivion. It's much appreciated guys!!! :teeth:

Soooo....training...yes I'm still training for a marathon thru the heat and rain and torrential downpours. So the "hurricane" came thru and I ran during it.....very nearly was carried off by the high winds and swept away by the torrential downpours. Ok....so much for the drama.....nothing really happened (thankfully).....it was fun running to Jellyrolls last night in the pouring rain and walking in totally soaked. Other than that...Ernesto was barely a blip on the radar for us. And more importantly, Florida was definitely spared any damage.

So where did I leave off in my training? Hmmmm......let's start with last week...

Ran Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (ouch those back to back runs were killer)

Friday: Did not go to KBX....was dealing with all the last minute issues surrounding our trip. But I did manage a 30 minute Elliptical workout at the hotel upon arrival Friday night! Good start!!!

Sat: Got up and ran 5 on the treadmill at the airport Sheraton. Go me!! :yay:

Sun: Rest Day....so what does one do on a marathon training rest day at WDW? Well...walk around AK of course :teeth: .

Mon: Got up and ran the Boardwalk, MGM loop. Did 40 minutes, a little over 4 miles. Then spent the day at MK!!!!

Tues: Did 30 minutes on the Lifecycle.

Wed: Ran 4 miles in 38:16 or something like that. Was a nice fast run....did two loops of 2 miles each (around boardwalk/yacht/beach onto the MGM path and finish the loop). GREAT place to run :). Such an awesome change of scenery for me.

Thurs: Ran 40 minutes around Epcot Resort Blvd area....my legs are KILLING ME TODAY. Spent the rest of the day up until now wandering EPCOT. I'm feeling the back to back runs! Tomorrow is an XT day. Sure can't wait for that rest day but I've got to figure out a 6 mile run at Wilderness Lodge since we check out of BCV and into WL tomorrow.

So....thanks guys! :grouphug: We are having fun...it's hot but the crowds are manageable and the kids are having a blast.

YEAH!! She loves us!!!

Thanks, Amy for the update AND the pics!!! You're so thoughtful!

Great job keeping up with the training at WDW! I'd love to hear where you run at WL, since we'll be staying there in November (well, there and OKW) and I am DEFINITELY running while there.

Have a BLAST!!
