AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

Amy, congrats on losing the holiday weight gain, way to go!:cool1: You are doing so well with you food and exercise. It really helps to have a workout buddy. I had one of those once and it really helped, sorry she's not around anymore! In any case it helps when you know if you don't go you have someone besides you that you are letting down. You will be 139 next week, you CAN do it! Happy Friday!

P.S. Glad dd's knee wasn't so serious after all ;) , sounds like that two hour wait saved you some money! Also, poor ds, that makes me wince to think about it. Can I have some sedation for my son too?

Hey neighbor! I actually got married in Mesa, Arizona- so beautiful! Hey I am also trying to hit 139! Hopefully next week (I don't have much faith in myself over the weekends...) Your journal is great! I'm impressed with your good eating habits. I have little willpower in that area. Your workout classes sound great. A gym is just about to open up in my area, and now I think I might join to do the classes, which we don't have at Curves. Good luck with your goals!

Hi Amy,

Congrats on the loss!! Keep doing as you are, and it will keep going down, maybe slowly, but surely.:goodvibes

Can you post the recipe for the mini turkey loaves?? I'm always looking for new ideas, and they sound very yummy. Thanks!

Have a good week.

Okay, now as we discussed before, I'm expecting to hear you screaming with joy when you get below 141 all the way to Canada. Deal? Deal. ;)

Congrats on losing that holiday weight already! AMAZING job on the exercise too. You're on a roll! Hope you're having a fabulous weekend.

I am kicking butt on my exercise this month! :yay: :yay: :yay: Last night I went to Abs-n-Buns (45min), then 35min on the treadmill and this morning I went to Step HeII (60min) followed by Muscle (60min). Can you say TIRED??? :faint: But my goal is to really work out hard this month and get to the point where I can just work out 3x a week to maintain. And if I have to continue this pace next month, so be it! Come March, it'll get tough because that is when DS starts baseball.

Eating has been really good. I did have 2 pieces of beer bread yesterday, which I could have done without, but that was the only carb I had all day, so it works! I am also fighting off a cold, it hasn't won yet and I am determined to shake it before it gets any worse. I finally feel like I am back in control and I like it!!! :thumbsup2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, you are also motivating me to stay on track! If you can completely avoid carbs, I think I can at least manage to say away from junk!
Amy, you need to find another workout buddy! Now my other friend (I only have 3 girlfriends, I am pathetic) joined the gym and she was in Muscle class today. She said she was going to be hurting tomorrow, but my other friend and I bullied her into agreeing to go to TBK tomorrow! As for the dentist, I think I might steal a 55 gallon drum of that oral sedation, just to keep around the house... :tiptoe:
Penguin, thanks for stopping by! I like doing classes because they are always different and you do things that you wouldn't necessarily do on your own. Getting a grip on eating is HARD, but you can do it!!
Kate, here is the recipe:
1lb ground turkey
1 apple, chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2c uncooked oats
2tsp Dijon mustard
1tsp dried Rosemary leaves (crushed)
1tsp salt
1tsp black pepper
Mix together all ingredients, press evenly into greased muffin tins. Bake for 20min @ 425. Makes 4 servings - 210cal, 9g fat, 42mg cholesterol, 619mg sodium. Unfortunately the book does't list protein, fiber or carbs...
CJK, don't worry, you'll hear me! Keep your ears open for next Friday morning, that's when I hope to finally bust this plateau!
Way to go with the exercise, you are losing butt in addition to kicking it! Those classes you take me sore just to read about them. I have only two girlfriends, so you are ahead of me! I basically divorced or rather got divorced from my best friend of 30 years (my former workout buddy and why I no longer go to that gym) so I am not feeling too adventurous in trying to find a new friend to work out with if that makes sense. But I do miss having someone to walk with. Maybe Daisy will be my new workout buddy once the snow melts! When is your next business trip? Pm me about CBR, I have lots to tell. I hope you have a great rest of the weekned. I saw some Cheese Its today and thought no can do, Amy will kill me! You keep me legal!
I posted how I do the oatmeal cookies on my journal btw. Oh and if you steal the drugs from the dentist, mail some to me. For ds and the puppy!
WOW - go Amy, go Amy :dance3:
Keep on going girl you are doing awesome!!!
Cant wait for your WI next week :)
I did go to TBK today and it totally wiped me out. I am still fighting this sinus thing and I need to rest! I don't have a fever or anything, I just have a completely stuffed up head and am tired. I plan on going to the gym tomorrow, but it really depends on how I am feeling after work. If I do go, it will be cardio only, I need to give my muscles a break! The good news is that my legs were not sore from Muscle class yesterday!!! I must be getting back into shape...
Eating was OK. I did have some trail mix, but it was 1 handful, which is about 1 serving. That is a major accomplishment for me!! :cool1: We got Chinese food last night. I got beef-n-broccoli w/vegetables and brown rice. It was 90% broccoli, 10% beef, and I only ate about 1/2c of rice. So I don't think I did too bad. And for dessert I had 3/4c of No Sugar Added ice cream. Not too shabby for a weekend!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I'm sure Daisy would love to be your walking buddy!! I have no idea when my next biz trip will be. My boss told me I don't have to go to the UK at the end of this month (both he and his boss are going, they don't need little ole me!). I will probably have to go back to Germany sometime in Feb, and the Greece trip is supposed to be sometime within the next couple months. Unfortunately we don't know about our travel until 1-2 weeks in advance... :confused3

Tracey, thanks! I hope all this hard work pays off with a good weigh-in, but my body just doesn't cooperate like that sometimes... Hopefully this time it will!

First of all, CONGRATS on losing the Holiday weight!! I'm still working on it.
Second - your food and exercise is totally kicking butt!!!
I thought I was doing pretty good this month until I read yours. I'm definately going to kick it up a notch....or 3!!!
Keep up the good work....you're an inspiration!

marie

Amy, that must feel so good to not be sore and know you are back in shape! Good idea to give the muscles a rest. I hope your sinus thing gets better, I hate that stuffy feeling. I do think Daisy will be a good walking buddy and I won't have to listen to her complain about her life, her husband, her mom and all my shortcomings like my last buddy did! Way less aggravation. I may get some sort of Ipod or something for myself for MOther's Day to motivate me to walk. Right now its the treadmill and Sex in the City to get this old butt working! One handful of trailmix is quite an achievement. You should be really proud of yourself, you are just cranking! You motiviate me! And that would drive me batty not knowing when I was travelling overseas until right before. But then again, it might be fun to just get on a plane and get out of Dodge!

Congrats on losing the holiday lbs so quickly!! :cheer2: :cheer2: You are doing a great job with your exercise and your food. You made great choices for Chinese too. Congrats on limiting yourself to 1 handful of trail mix. I know what a major accomplishment that is. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I like meatloaf, but usually don't have an hour for it to cook. What a great idea to make in a muffin tin. I'm definitely going to try that.

DH's mother will call and ask if he is going to be in town for a specific date next month. :confused3 I don't know if he is going to be in town next week! Anything more than 24 hours out is far game for his job. The good side is you learn to pack really quickly. :)

I hope you are feeling better soon. Take it easy and let your body get better.

Way to go, Amy! You are doing such a great job with your workouts and food!
I am so proud of you!:hug: Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Hope you're feeling better soon.:hug: I found out last week that I have a sinus infection and have felt miserable since. Please be sure and take good care of you!:hug:

Have a great week!:goodvibes

I strayed a little in the food department yesterday, but nothing too major. I had some more trail mix, but again, only 2 handfuls. It's a lot of calories, but still much better than the huge amounts I have eaten in the past! I also had some mashed potatoes, but stuck to 1 serving (1/2c). I have found something to make my sweets cravings disappear - dark chocolate. It's 85% cocoa with 5g of sugar, which is what the ND will allow. It is almost to the point I don't like it, but all I have to eat is one square (50cal) and I don't want to eat anything else for a while.

I am still struggling with this congestion. It's not enough to make me feel crappy, but I definitely don't feel 100%. I'm not used to being sick, I wish it would go away! As of right now, I am feeling well enough to go to the gym, so I'll do some cardio!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marie, you are doing great this month too! I am in full blown workout mode so I can hopefully get to a decent weight and be able to maintain (only exercise 3x a week) by the time DS starts baseball (late Feb/early March).
Amy, it is kinda frustrating to not know in advance about the travel. Usually we know the trip is coming, but the dates are always changing. My company always buys fully refundable tickets. So they are so expensive it doesn't matter if it's last minute or not! I think Daisy will be a great walking buddy. If she can stop sniffing for 2 minutes...
Anna, I liked the mini meatloaves. I'll definitely make them again. This week my new recipe will be Caribbean Shrimp-n-Rice. Hopefully that will be good too!
Tracy, I hope these germs leave before I get a sinus infection! My sinuses are so congested, it makes me nervous. I don't have a fever or anything, so far so good! And I haven't sneezed yet and so far I've avoided the sinus headache, I think I am on the home stretch!
I am slowly slipping into bad habits with my eating! :mad: I promised myself today that I will NOT put anything in my mouth if it isn't planned! I didn't do awful last night, but I caught myself nibbling. :confused3 DH had some friends over to watch the game and he set out trail mix. I picked out 5 almonds and 2 cashews. Then I had 3 pretzels when packing the kids lunches. Then I had 3 chocolate covered pretzels. Then I had extra whipped cream on my SF Jello. I just need to get out of that mindset that "a little won't hurt me" because all those littles add up to big calories! So today I'm not going to give in. DD has tap, so that cuts out a lot of time in the kitchen. I just feel like I am constantly in the kitchen - making dinner, cleaning up dinner, getting lunches ready for the next day... Am I the only one in this boat??
I did do 45min on the treadmill and am looking forward to my day off today. Tomorrow I am going to Abs-n-Buns and Cardio Mix. It just occurred to me that I will not be able to go to the gym on Saturday because DH has a golf tournament. So I will have to motivate myself to do my Pilates Sculpt DVD instead. I don't want to slip on my exercise minutes!!!
I hear you on the nibbling! Argh! It is completely sabotaging me. :sad2:
You have tremendous willpower though, and if you set your mind to it, I'm sure you will break the habit. :)
And yes, I definitely feel like I spend my life in the kitchen and the laundry room. :laundy: . DH travels so much, he would really like to spend a "vacation" at home. That is not a vacation for me though. Home is my "job" and I need to get away to really relax.
Hi Amy
I'm sure your food is not as bad as you think! :) & with all the exercise your doing you have to allow yourself some treats, i think if you deny yourself everything it makes it very hard to stay on that wagon!
I love dark chocolate, you will proberbly find you will start to like it after you get used to it.
I here you about living in the kitchen!! Because i'm on induction & DD is such a fussy eater i find i'm cooking 3 different meals for dinner!! So i've started telling DH to prepare his & DD & i cook it whilst preparing & cooking mine & we wash up together!!
Have a good week
Tracey
Hi Amy, don't despair, its good that you recognize that those BLT's (bites, licks and tastes ;) ) add up. Time was when you probably wouldn't have even recognized you were doing it, much less kept track of it. So what type of chocolate is that and where do you find it? I keep reading about all the health benefits of chocolate. Do Ding Dongs count? :lmao: Just keep up your good work, you are doing great with your food and exercise!
Hope you enjoyed your non exercising day!
:hug: Amy,
I hear ya bout the nibbling! It's amazing how much those little nibbles add up. Good for you for recognizing that!:goodvibes You are doing such a great job with exercise Amy! I bet those nibbles burned off right away!:yay:
Have a great Wednesday!:goodvibes
Hey Amy,
those nibbles kill me all the time!
Thanks so much for the recipe. I tried that the other night, and it was a big hit with the family - that doesn't happen very often, that I make something healthy and they like it!:rotfl:
Have a good day.
I did AWESOME yesterday! :cool1: No nibbling on anything!!!!! :thumbsup2 And that was being stuck at home with all the temptations (DH took DD to tap)!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: I am so excited and now that I know I can do it for one day, I am going to do it again today. It's sad that I have to take it one day at a time, but that is where I'm at right now, and I have to do whatever works!
It was nice to have a day off exercising. I am going to class tonight and will take another rest tomorrow.
Travel update - I will most likely be going to Germany the week of Feb 12. And I just found out the long-awaited Greece trip will also be sometime in Feb. I hope they are not at the same time, I REALLY want to go to Greece (but my priority is Germany)!!! I also got an e-mail that British Airways has extended its complimentary First Class upgrade for my company (until June). Woohoo!!! :banana:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna, my willpower usually lasts about 3 days. Then I am back to old habits. :confused3 You need to buy a cabin in the mountains or something. That way DH can be "home" and you can be "away from home" at the same time!

Tracey, you are lucky to have help cleaning up! My DH will SOMETIMES put his dishes in the dishwasher, but usually I get the pleasure. But he does so much other stuff around the house that I can't complain! I am getting used to the dark chocolate, but one little sqaure is definitely enough. I can't imagine eating a whole bar of it!

Amy, I like that - BLTs!!! :lmao: And you are right, I never thought twice about it until I started writing everything down. It really helped to suck on a SF candy while packing lunches - that way I was still behaving and didn't want to taste anything! The chocolate I got is Lindt 85% Cocoa and I got it at the grocery store. My ND said to make sure it is at least 75% Cocoa and that it has 5g or less of sugar per serving. I'm pretty sure Ding Dongs don't count!!! :rotfl:

Tracy, I hope those nibbles burned away! And now I'd like to start burning fat instead!!!

Kate, I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe. I am trying a new dish tomorrow, if it's good I'll post the recipe. This next one is out of my Low Fat Cooking for Busy People cookbook.
