I feel your pain, Amy! This mid-life Hormone He!! is AWFUL!!!! Hang in there, it will eventually come off!

Hey Amy...just getting caught up with your journal!
Sounds like an up and down few weeks....I know how that feels!!!
Right now..I'm up...and in pounds!!!
Good job on the resisted....no biggie about the bagel...don't sweat the small stuff!! When you do what I did today, then you can start sweating!!!

Have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend!!!

Weigh in today was 139. :confused3 Jeans are snug. Not uncomfortably tight, but not fitting as well as last week. It's amazing what a difference 2lbs can make. I did really good with my eating yesterday. My stomach has been upset this morning. Part of the problem is that I am getting "backed up" again. I will have to make another appointment with the ND since the stuff she gave me is not working as planned. I think once I get that straightened out I will be a lot happier! DS came home with his mid-term progress reports. 2 F's, a C- and a B. WHAT THE #&@%$*#&%?????? :furious: I asked his teacher to call me. I asked him what his problem was and he said "goofing off". He better goof his way into some better grades before report cards come out, that's for sure! He was getting 0's on spelling tests. How do you go from missing about 3 words the entire YEAR last year to getting a 0 this year? He did this the first semester last year too, but once he got the wrath of mom he shaped up. He is testing the waters to see what he can get away with. You think he would have learned that lesson last year... Yesterday I drank 100oz water; 16oz Green Tea w/Splenda; 20oz Crystal Light:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: Low Carb Yogurt; Strawberries (1c)
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, red pepper, cheese, dressing); Cucumber; Almonds (1.2oz)
2:30pm: Colby Jack Cheese (1.5oz); Pear
6:00pm: EFL Chicken Fajitas w/Onions & Red Peppers (no tortilla); SF Jello w/Soy Whip
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Pretzels, Goldfish; PB; Almond Coconut Crunch; Peanuts @ work

Amy, I thought of the BFL book when I was enjoying my cookies and bagel. I did lose 1 of the 3 mystery lbs but the other 2 are definitely overstaying their welcome! I have also stopped checking airfares - it's too dangerous! Plus with our 3 major vacations this year my vacation time is non-existent... :rolleyes1

Tracey, there have been many times when I've gone WAY off track and felt so guilty. Not this time, and it felt great!

Jane, sorry to hear about the crown! My crown is still really sensitive to cold. I just don't chew cold things on that side. I will mention it to the dentist when I go back in Dec, but they will probably want to do a root canal. NO THANKS. I love how THEY screwed up that tooth since I never had a hint of pain until they put the crown on. :furious:

Julie, getting old is the pits! :rolleyes:

Marie, I haven't checked out your journal yet. Did you have another 3 Krispy Kreme day?

Hi Amy, sorry about ds' grades. Just what you needed right now huh? I used to be that way and it drove my mom nuts! My son has also done that in the past (very frustrating since like your son he is super smart) and it drove me nuts and paid me back big time! Don't worry, the school year is young, he has plenty of time to shape up. Time to get your mom wrath back up again I guess! And as for Body for Life, the free day of eating was about the only principle I practiced from that book so obviously its what I remember the most. Your two pounds is probably the "back up". Hopefully your ND can give you a new something to get that going, literally! Hang in there though. And yes, two pounds can make a huge difference, because its usually water which usually sits right around our mid section and ankles and is easy to feel. I love being a woman sometimes! Have a great weekend, this will come off soon and you'll be back down again.

Amy, at least getting my crown was a big relief! The pain is now 90% gone. I can't believe your tooth got worse after the crown. Thats just not fair. :confused3

I hope things get better for your son. Its sounds like he's having a trying year. Is there anything else that might be causing his problems? I hope things get back to normal. He's been doing so well.

Oh Amy, I can understand about the bad grades. My DS is so smart, but can really get awful grades. And he's a junior in HS! You just want to look inside their brains and see what's going on sometimes, doncha?? :confused3

Your exercise and food are always so good, the weight has got to go down eventually. Hang in there, and hope you have a good weekend. :sunny:

So sorry to hear about ds's grades. :grouphug: Hopefully when you talk to the teacher and further with your son, you can figure out what's going on. Good job on the water and food. Way to go on not "stress" eating the way I would! :rolleyes: I hope you're having a good weekend.

Hi Amy
food sounds great :)
Maybe DS is finding the work too easy & is bored, especially if he did so well last year!
Or it could be peer pressure, sometimes kids think its not 'cool' to be clever, i have had a similier problem with DD in the past!!!!

I had such a relaxing day yesterday I didn't even get on the computer! Of course I didn't work out either... :rolleyes1 The theme for this weekend is NUTS. I've eaten way too many of them! :blush: I have been enjoying my Almond Coconut Crunch, but I have been 100% in control with it, which is a great accomplishment for me! I can have 2-3 and be done with it and not feel like I have to eat the whole bag. They are pretty hard to chew, so that definitely helps! Yesterday we went out to eat and I behaved!!!!! :thumbsup2 I had 1 cocktail, but avoided the calorie-laden margarita. I got some new ideas for breakfast and I have no choice but to get creative with my lunches this week since I can't buy spinach! :furious: Friday I drank 100oz water, 16oz green tea and 20oz Crystal Light:

6:15am: Egg Beaters w/Spinach, Red Pepper, 1tbsp Cheese
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese; Strawberries
11:30am: Leftover Chicken Fajitas w/Wheat Tortilla; Cucumber; Almonds (1.2oz)
2:30pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Apple; 10 Peanuts
6:15pm: Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi; 10 Macadamia Nut Halves; Broccoli; SF Jello
8:30pm: 6 Almond Coconut Crunch; 3 Mini Nilla Wafers
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: more macadamia nuts, trail mix

On Sat I drank 60oz water, 33.8oz Diet Green Tea, 12oz DC, 1 Mexitini:

7:15am: Oatmeal w/Apple (1/2), Raisins (1tbsp); Cinnamon & Splenda; Skim Milk (1/2c); 3 Egg Whites
11:40am: LF Cottage Cheese; Apple (1/2); 2 Almond Coconut Crunch
2:15pm: Leftover Mahi Mahi; Cucumber-n-Hummus; 2 Almond Coconut Crunch
6:00pm: Salmon Taco (on corn tortilla) w/mango salsa; Shrimp Taco (corn tortilla) w/pineapple salsa; 2 Almond Coconut Crunch
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Margarita, Chips-n-salsa!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Amy, the mystery weight is finally coming off. I'm glad I stuck with the program instead of getting frustrated and binging on something. Hopefully I will continue the downward trend!

Jane, let's just say as hot as my dentist is, I'm no longer a huge fan! Who knows what DS's problem is. Usually I am dealing with his bad behavior, now he is behaving and getting crappy grades. :confused3

Kate, I know DS's problem is that he is not paying attention. On one of his spelling tests, he spelled all the words right but didn't write them in cursive, so he got a 0. There are lots more assignments like that...

CJK, dealing with my DS is exhausting! People don't get it, but he really is a piece of work. I think he knows that the grades must be raised and I bet he will pull them up before report card time.

Tracey, I know DS gets bored in his regular class. He goes to the gifted class one day a week. I wish it was every day! They have a completely different way of teaching that just works better for him.

Sounds like theres your answer then! Hope you can sort something out at school, i try to drill into DD how much better her life will be with the right qualifications behind her & i think it kinda motivates her!!
Glad you had a nice relaxing day :)

I think Tracey's right! Maybe you could work something out with the school and get him to the gifted class more often. It's amazing how different kids require different methods of teaching. Sounds like he's pretty bright.

Great job on the food and portions! You're really nailing portion control with the almond coconut crunch. I had half a snack size bag of M&M's yesterday and it was downright heavenly. I used to never feel satisfied with just a few, but now, I actually was satisfied. Miracles really Do exist. :teeth:

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Glad you had a nice relaxing day and congrats on the self control while eating out! :cheer2: That is a huge step!

When I heard the news story about Spinach, I thought of you and your salads & wraps. :sad2: I almost bought spinach last weekend at Costco, but went with the spring mix instead. Good thing.

Isn't it frustrating when the school doesn't have good accomodations for the really bright kids? There are so many internention programs for the kids that are behind, and next to nothing to stimulate those that are so bright. At least, your school has a gifted class. Our elementary school doesn't even offer that. In middle school, there are honors english and math, but not for science or history. Bummer on the 0 for not being in cursive. That can be frustrating too.

I too thought of you when the spinach thing broke. Me, I'm a romaine lettuce girl so if that was pulled I'd be in trouble! You'll come up with something tasty and satisfying I am sure. Aren't you proud that spinach has become such a big part of your life? I hope this week brings some resolution with your son. Schools are really good at cookie cutting curriculums and not so good at coming up with plans that work for specific kids with specific needs. Sometimes it only takes one teacher on your side to make the changes necessary, hopefully you can find him/her! Don't stress too much, it will work out! Good job eating in moderation over the weekend. That is huge. Sounds like you had a good, relaxing and fun weekend. Just what you needed! Glad the mystery weight is disappearing!

Another lazy day of not working out! I just didn't feel like going to my class - it's not my favorite teacher. I wouldn't say she's too easy, but I don't get as good of a workout as I do with the other one (they alternate weekends). And I figure that I bust my butt 5x a week at the gym and get the same result as when I go 3x a week, so why kill myself? :confused3 I went 3x last week so I'm not going to stress about it. Plus my mom came over and we did some scrapbook pages (I got 5 of them done!). The house is filthy, I'll just have to deal with that in little bits and pieces this week. I did OK with eating, could have been better, but I've been way worse in past weekends! :teeth: My goal this week is NO Almond Coconut Crunch during the week. I can indulge on the weekend ONLY! I drank 100oz water; 33.8oz Diet Green Tea; 6oz Diet Coke; 10oz Crystal Light:

7:15am: Oatmeal w/Chopped Apple (1/2), Raisins (2tbsp), Stevia, Splenda & Cinnamon; FF Milk (1/2c); 3 Egg Whites
10:15am: LF Cottage Cheese; Apple (1/2); Soy Nuts (small handful); Almond Coconut Crunch (2)
1:15pm: Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi; Broccoli; Almond Coconut Crunch (4)
4:30pm: Low Carb Yogurt; No Sugar Added Peach Applesauce; Colby Jack Cheese (3/4oz)
6:45pm: Grilled Chicken; Zucchini; 2tbsp PB; Soy Crisps (10)
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Chai Latte; Trail Mix; More Crunch; Nilla Wafers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, usually DS misbehaves when he's bored. I haven't gotten a single bad report about his behavior (knock on wood). I don't know what is up with the bad grades, but we had a talk with him and he knows he needs to straighten up.
CJK, they can only go to the gifted class once a week. There is 1 gifted teacher at the school and she does Grades 3-6, each grade goes on a specific day. Don't sweets taste so much better when you don't have them all the time? It's such a treat!
Anna, it is disappointing that there are not more opportunities for the gifted kids. Some of the parents are lobbying to change that, but both my kids will be out of school before that ever happens. Since DS has been "labeled" he will automatically be enrolled in Honors classes throughout Jr High and HS (whether he likes it or not!)
Amy, I had to switch to romaine this week. It's gonna be an adjustment! I won't be putting romaine in my eggs, that's for sure! :rotfl: I think DS got the hint that the bad grades aren't gonna fly. He'll turn it around. We always bribe him with something special at the end of the school year if he succeeds (last year it was a $99 Star Wars Lego set that he really wanted).
Hopefully your ds will get the message and get crackin' in school. He won't want a bad report card!
Good to hear you got some scrapbookin' done? Do we get to see another pic? That housework will continue to wait! :teeth:
That's a great goal re: your almond coconut crunch. Just think how amazing it will taste on the weekend (with no guilt to boot!). Have a great week!
Amy, congrats on the downward trend with your weight! Thats great news. :dogdance:
Its too bad that your son isn't getting the opportunities at school that you feel he needs. Our county has an entire school that is for gifted students. People come here from all over the state to get in. However, people go nuts trying to get their kids in the program. Its VERY competitive.
Hey Amy~
I can't wait to see your scrapbook pages!!! (hint~hint)
Sorry to hear that DS isn't living up to his potential. Mine is the same way...only not in the gifted program. He brought home 3 F's, 2 D's and a few C's & B's, but that was the first 3 weeks...his midterm was much better....no F's, 1D, 3C's and a few B's. I'm not gonna complain!
Hang in there with him....the wrath of mom ALWAYS wins!!!
Good for you taking some time for yourself this weekend. Good job on the scrapbook pages. From one engineer to another, just remember each page does not have to be perfect. I am working on that mantra for myself. However, don't ever let anyone talk you into paper tearing ... we don't do that well ... :sad2:
Have a great week. :sunny:
I did really good with eating yesterday. :thumbsup2 I'd love to lose 5 lbs before we go to Mexico. I know that is huge, but that is my "stretch" goal. Any loss at all will be a welcome event! :goodvibes DS did really good with his homework yesterday. He even wanted to study for a test he is having on Wednesday. I think he got the hint that his bad grades aren't gonna fly... I guess I will have to remind him at the start of every school year so we don't have another repeat performance! DD does great as always. I hope that doesn't mean I am going to pay big time when she is a teenager! :confused3 Yesterday I drank 100oz water; 16oz Green Tea w/Splenda; 12oz Crystal Light:
6:20am: Egg Beaters (½c) w/Morningstar Farms Meatless Crumble (2/3c)
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese (3/4c); Strawberries (1c)
11:30am: Grilled Chicken (4oz); Zucchini; Soy Crisps (18)
2:30pm: 3 Egg Whites; Apple; Almonds (1.2oz)
6:00pm: Romaine Salad (w/chicken, red peppers, cheese, dressing); Soy Crisps (10); 7 Grain Bread-n-Butter (1); SF Jello
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Almond Coconut Crunch; PB; Trail Mix; Cheetos; Boo Berry cereal
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CJK, hopefully I will forget about the Almond Coconut Crunch by the weekend... I need to stop buying stuff that only I will eat, especially when it comes in a huge bag!

Jane, at the beginning of the year I saw a parent trying to push her kindergartner and 1st grader into the gifted program. First of all, they don't test the kids until they are in 2nd grade. Secondly, the gifted teacher asked the mother what her 1st grader was reading and she said "Dr Suess". That's when I about lost it. What 1st grader CAN'T read Dr Suess? Now, if he's reading Harry Potter, then we might have something... I could tell the gifted teacher was just really disgusted by the whole conversation... I never pushed DS into it, he tested into it on his own. And DD tests for it this year. If she doesn't make it, WHO CARES? It doesn't mean she isn't smart!

Marie, since I moved into my new job I no longer have access to a scanner. I think we have one at home (that has never been out of the box). I will see if I can have DH set it up this weekend and scan some pages in. Worst case I can take a picture of them with my digital camera... :rolleyes:

Anna, I really struggle with the scrapbook pages. My mom is a natural. Plus, she has so many supplies it really stresses me out trying to sort through everything and get the right stuff! I might go get some of my own supplies. She wants to get together every 3 weeks to scrapbook. Hopefully we will stick to the plan! :teeth:

Hi Amy,

I am going to start off by congratulating you on losing, but don't worry about the gain. It will all come off in no time...just stick with it! And from reading you are doing just that!! Good for you. You have a good plan for your work outs....no need to kill yourself if you do it 3x a week. Keep up the great work!!!

Sorry to hear that DS is not doing very well so far. I remember being in school and it was always tough for me to get back into the swing of things after summer. I don't remember if I got F's, but it was tough. Maybe after mom talked to him, that knocked some sense into him and he will straighten up!!!

You are doing a great job resisting all the yummies that you have around you. Good job on the PB!!! I love PB and I must admit I don't know if I would have been able to do what you did!!! Who knows though!!!

Keep p the great work! And have a wonderful Tuesday :)
