Hi all! Long time lurker here. :) Mine will be a "light" planning journal, as I am usually brief (I think - unless I get over-excited!!!!)

About us:
Yuri and I met in August of 2011. I had previously been engaged to someone who I had a 7 year on-off relationship with. We were only engaged 3 months before he freaked out about getting married. :confused3 He literally disappeared and stopped calling me... anyway - this is relevant because I waited a couple of months for him to ask me for the ring back, but he literally didn't contact me at all, and I sold the ring. I literally met Yuri the very next day! I had to let go in order to meet him!

Yuri knew what he wanted, and I was very hesitant (understandably!) He wore me down and by late September, I agreed to date him exclusively. One of the things I worried about was that he works offshore, so he is home a month and gone a month. (I have since realized that, while I miss him, I also like my time to do "me" stuff!) I had a "premonition" I guess one day, and told a friend that I suddenly knew I would marry him!

Anyway... fast forward... Yuri proposed in November that year. Yes, November! His parents met and married within 4 months, and have been married for 46 years! I said yes, but was nervous. He was ready to get married right away. I told him I wanted to be together for a year first. He understood, even though he was ready. :lovestruc Sometimes, a man just knows!!!

I should back up and mention he is originally from Holland - lived there until he was 12. His parents moved with him to the US then. I, however, am from JERSEY! :lmao: Interesting mix!!!! I have my MBA and sell large power contracts. Yuri works offshore in Africa on an oil rig. We are kinda different but both LOVE Disney, and share the same moral values. This is key!

So anyway... I have always loved Disney. I started taking my son (now 19) when he was 4. Yuri has always loved Disney. The first movie he ever saw was Pinnochio. He had been to Disneyland, as his family first lived in California. He had never been to Disneyworld! We talked about it and we took our first big trip together, with John (my awesome son), to DisneyWorld in December 2010. We all loved that trip. We rented DVC points and stayed at AKV in a large one bedroom (2 baths). We briefly discussed getting married there. My son enjoyed as well and really really loves Yuri (he hated my ex, so that means a lot!)

Fast forward again - we went through growing pains. He is a very "do everything together" person and I am very independent. I pushed back like a child on a lot of stuff. :rotfl: Anyway, we got through that stuff.

We booked another trip to the World for October 2011, I had never been to the Food and Wine festival, and we wanted to look at wedding locations. We had a great time (just he and I this time - John had college classes) and we both liked SBP! Being from the Jersey shore and my nostalgia regarding the boardwalk at "home", it was perfect! One thing - we enjoyed food and wine, but we prefer Christmas at Disney! I am glad we had the experience, but we won't be dying to go back to food and wine!

While there, we also bought into DVC!!!! :cheer2:

Since then, I got a new job (also :cheer2:) and have been trying to plan! We started small, but we wanted a nice reception - not crazy DJ type reception - but relaxed and private. I got a bug up my butt about the Attic after seeing Carrie's pics! I bought her book and everything!

So now, we have tentatively planned a dessert party the evening prior! We don't need a rehearsal dinner - there will be 12-15 people. We have the wedding at 10:00 am, and a reception lunch immediately following at the Attic!!!!! :yay: Oh, and he surprised me with Cinderella's Coach!!!! I am so lucky!

I just went to try on my dress today... more on that!

I don't know how to post pics - otherwise I would!

More later.... princess:

Hey Amy! Great to see you have finally started a PJ! You guys sound like a great couple and really, whether it's 4 months or 4 years, the heart wants what the heart wants :) I totally get you on your "me" time when he is gone away. My DF and I work opposite shifts and, although we hardly see each other during the week and I miss him, I love my time alone and I love seeing him even more on the weekends lol!

Can't wait to read more!

P.S. For pictures, sign up with a website like photo bucket. There you can upload pictures from your computer, edit them how you want and they will give you a link for it. Using that link, click on the yellow mountain picture when you are replying and paste the link in there. If you need any help just holler!!

You are so sweet! And thank you for the tips on photo bucket! I will try that too! :goodvibes

Hi Amy. I'm also a long time lurker. Congratulations on your engagement and buying into DVC :)

Thanks PrincessElla! If we were going to register (which we are not bc we are 37 and 41 and both married before) we'd probably just want more DVC points!!!! :rotfl:

Thanks! Gonna try to figure out this picture posting thing!!! I tried ONE dress on only!

I am not sure we are going to have a wedding party, so color scheme isn't as key at the moment. HOWEVER, I love Tiffany blue or a variation of pink/coral. I am sure I won't find blue flowers.

So.... I definitely don't want the wedding march!

I have some ideas... One of my favorite movies of all time is the Princess Bride. I love the theme song, and I think it could make a great processional. I kind of want to surprise my fiance' with it if I choose that- since we both love the movie.

I heard Butterfly Waltz today, and that is one beautiful song as well!

I am probably going to choose one of those; however, either one will require to switch from violin to another instrument. The Princess Bride theme would sound best on guitar, while Butterfly Waltz would be best on piano I think.

As far as the recessional goes, a Disney song would be nice, or maybe something like "What a Wonderful World"...

Anyone have any suggestions? I am kinda worried that Princess Bride would be silly!!!:confused3

So here are some dress pics. I need to take about 10 lbs off to feel my "best", but I do love this dress! I am a street size 4 (rarely 6) and the dress is a Sottero & Midgley 10!!! Talk about tag shock! :rotfl2:

I totally look like I am flexing in the back view one!

I am sporting the most splotchy spray tan ever, and am actually considering hitting the tanning bed (which I have not done in a zillion years) before the wedding. My fiance' is seriosuly asking me not to!!!

The story behind this dress is I looked up a local dress shop and clicked on the links to their designers. I looked at all the pics and came back to this one over and over. I love that it isn't bright white. I called a couple of months ago and knew they had it in what would likely be my dress size. I didn't realize that it would take a long time to get in.

So I called the dress shop yesterday to book an appointment January 7th to try on the dress with a girlfriend there. When I told them my wedding date, I was informed that not just this designer, but all of them are taking a long time to get dresses. The designer had an 8 and 2 14's in stock, and a 10 would ship May 7th. That is wayyyy too late.

So I ran up there after work yesterday. I asked her to pull other dresses too, but I tried this one on first, and I didn't try on any others! :scared1:

They tried the designer again today to see if there could be a "rush" after the holidays, and they got the same answer. May 7th... So they offered their sample at 10% off, as they have had it for a month. I checked it over and it doesn't have any issues. We decided I can't go with an 8 because the bust is 1.5" smaller, and that just won't work no matter how much weight I lose! (my girls are man-made and no matter how much I lose, I don't really lose in the bust. My natural size was an A.)

So I am going with the "in-stock" dress. I sent my future in-laws the pics and they loved the dress. Yuri absolutely does NOT want to see it before the wedding. I wish I could get his opinion on it!!!!!

I used photobucket and the little yellow box thing... but it didn't work! I will try again....

Yay the picture showed up! That dress looks GORGEOUS on you. I love all the detail work on the bottom part. :)

It appears to have worked!

So this is the dress.... I just got off the treadmill! Now that I have seen pics of it on me, it's shape up time!!! :rotfl:

The models wear a dress size 6 (which is a 0 or 2) at the shows and in the photos from what the bridal salon owner told me. I am in a 10 (street size 4 - sometimes 6). So I want to slim my arms and stomach a bit after seeing it in the catalog! I will see if I can post that!

You are so kind! I fell in love with this dress when I saw it on the Sottero & Midgely site! I am hoping when I have it hemmed that they can keep the detail on the bottom the same!

I am thinking of wearing my hair in a similar way. I don't want to look like someone else (full up-do, super curly hair, etc.) but I want to look a little glam. A half-up style with a little wave might be nice. Though my hair is stick straight! :rotfl: That could be fun to attempt!

OMG I am in LOVE with your dress! It looks amazing on you! Much better than on the model!

Just popping in: that dress is GORGEOUS!!! I -love- it. Who is the designer?! And do you have any pictures of you wearing it?

Thanks! I literally am planning my life around working out since I picked the dress. :rotfl2: I need to get back to the gym anyway, so maybe this will be good for me! My New Year's resolution is to be healthier anyway (no wine during the week, more strength training, etc), so perhaps this will help! :thumbsup2

Hi DoomBuggy! The designer is Sottero and Midgely. I believe the design # is JSM1103??? If you go to the end of the first page, I am trying on the dress!
