Amway Center to Disney

What is the best way to get from the Amway Center in Orlando back onto Disney property? I think DTD is closest and from there we could take a Disney bus back to our resort. Husband is saying there is a bus that runs from the Amway Center that goes to a bus station, where we would have to switch buses, then that bus would take us to DTD. Does anyone have any experience with the Orlando buses? Don't know how safe it would be for a Mom and young son to do that trip on our own (Dad and older son staying for the night concert then driving back to the motel). Thanks in advance for the advice!
