"Amuck, amuck, amuck!" A Pre-TR (link to TR in the first post)

Beth, Add to that weekend on Sunday, is the CHOC walk! :sad2: I don't plan on being there on Sunday, but I wonder if that makes even more people spending the whole weekend, starting on Friday??

Well, our APs expire in October so Ruben has already said no more family trips until 2011 when the DCA remodel is complete. I'll be going back in March for the ladies trip, so this trip I'm all about making sure we do what the kids want to do.

Even if it's busy, we've got several days so I'm sure we'll be good.

What I'm more worried about is we are taking the minivan in tomorrow to finally get fixed. It started acting up on the way home from our June trip, but then just doing the little bit of driving we do around here, it's been ok.

I know it won't make it back to CA though so we have to get it looked at. I'm just scared to see how much it's going to cost!! :scared1:

Wish us luck on the repair cost, because if it's too high, we might have to trim back on the trip a little. I may sound selfish but I really don't want to have to do that, so I'm hoping it's not too bad.
Unfortunately every time we take that dumb van in, it's always several hundred. :sad2: I'm really dreading hearing the total tomorrow.

I just had to take my car in recently for a squeak and it ended up costing a few hundred. Ugh. Such a pain. We never add that kind of stuff into our budget so it always stinks.

What the heck is a CHOC walk???
(sigh) Well, it is what it is. I can't worry about it since I can't change it. I just hope it's not too bad. Maybe we'll spend all our time at the hotel instead. LOL

:headache: Oh man, I HATE that. Darn cars.

Well, we got a phone call at 4:30 this morning. Scared me because NO ONE calls us that early and I thought something bad had happened to one of our family members in MI or something.

Turns out it was Ruben's work calling to see if he could work today. So the good news is, it will be overtime which we really need right now. Bad news is, now he can't take in the van and I'm not sure when he'll get around to it.
So the wait goes on to find out just how much it's going to cost.

It's like getting a shot or something. Just hurry up and get it over with! The waiting and anticipation is maddening!!

The CHOC walk is a fundraising 5k for the Children's Hospital of Orange County. It goes through Disneyland and I think through DCA too. It happens before the park actually opens.

I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just read on another thread that Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas will be hanging out around HM for pics and autographs for the first time ever!!!! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1967743

I had to call Disney for myself to make sure, and the CM I spoke with said YES! They are there on weekends only though, so I'm definitely adding that to my Saturday plan.

I hate having my picture taken, but I'd happily take one with them. :cool1:

Thank goodness you changed your sig, I thought that thing would never change.

As always, I have no clue what you are talking about. I'll just enjoy my dirty, hairy popcorn until you start making some sense. popcorn::

I'll have you know that I was at a PUMPKIN PATCH last weekend!!! And now, even though I don't know you from Adam, I can't see or do anything Halloween-ish and not think of you! :rotfl2:

Question: do you want to see pics? Should i put them in my TR?? I don't want to get carried away and get in trouble for being totally OT in my own TR... Should I post them somewhere else or not at all? How does that work, do you know?? :confused3

That is like the best compliment ever. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

And you know I'd love to see some pics!!!

In my June TR, we went to the Circus one night and I posted some pics of that. I don't think it's a big deal. :confused3 I don't think there's any rule that says every single post has to be about the trip, as long as you are still working on the actual TR.

I don't know. Those 2 are so flippin' skinny, I don't think I'd want to be next to them in a picture. I like posing with Pooh, or Tweedle Dee and Dum. KWIM?

most of my report is so off topic because there's not much planning going on. But after the trip it will contains hundreds of Disneyland photos...so I hope that makes it okay.

I think the Sally in that photo looks like Drew Barrymore.

YAY Jack and Sally!!! I am planning on watching that tonight with greg to get us pumped up for the HM layover..i think that is one of the things i am looking forward to most about the parks..it will be so different!!!!
I LOVE the pic in your siggie of Jack! :)

I'm sure it's fine. :confused3 I like reading it. I guess if anyone has an issue they can move along and not read, right? ;)
And I cannot wait to see your DL pics!! :yay:

Thanks. I love the HM layover. It's awesome. I can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Arrrrrrrrgh!! I am so frustrated right now.

Ruben took the minivan in this morning before work to a nearby dealer to have them check it out.
Well, they never called so finally around 2 or so he called them to see what was going on. They said they could not find anything wrong with it.

HUH???? Nothing wrong with it? What the......??

OKay, so when we are at signal lights and step on the gas and it doesn't always want to go, that's normal?

What about coming home in from CA in June when we were going up one of the mountains (crossing the desert between here and Anaheim you reach up to 4,000 feet) and the car was jerking and not wanting to go, that's normal??

Or, I know. When we are out driving around town, and have been doing errands for a few hours and are heading up the hill towards home and it starts jerking and not wanting to go, that's totally normal too right?????

Ummm, I don't think so. Idiots. And for that little gem of information they are going to charge us $120???
This is why I hate cars, car dealers, car repair men, etc. I'm sorry to anyone reading who is a dealer or mechanic, but that's just how I feel right now.

So now what???? They say it's fine. We know it's not.
Am I just supposed to smile and say, "OK kids, hop in the van and let's all hope that we don't break down in the middle of the freeway in the middle of the desert." :thumbsup2
Yeah right.

I don't know what to do. I am so upset, mad, and frustrated, that honestly, I don't even want to go anymore. :furious: :worried: :(

Is your minivan a Dodge by any chance? If so from personal experience I recognize those symptoms. See about getting your transmission checked by a transmission shop. A lot of times they do free checks. I know that I was able to get mine checked for free when the transmission went out in my old Dodge.

No, it's a Mercury Villager.
It's older then dirt and we really do need a new one, but we are holding off as long as we can because who wants a new car payment every month for the next couple years, kwim?

I just don't understand how they can say nothing is wrong with it. :confused3

And if they can't/won't fix it, I don't know where that leaves us. I'm not about to take a chance and drive it. I was scared to death last time it started acting up on the way from CA.

I've looked into rentals but they are so expensive out here. I don't know. I'm just stressing right now. Sorry for being such a downer everyone!! Just ignore me. LOL

Yep, that's exactly what you're supposed to do!

I don't know what to do.

Duh, you're supposed to go to Disneyland and find your happy place!

I'm sorry you're upset. You DO want to go though, you've already invested money into this trip, so you're going!

Ewww, I loaned my car to my sister when she went down to San Diego and my transmission went out on her (on my 22nd birthday...while I was at Disneyland ). If it weren't for my mom paying that bill, I would not have a car anymore. Not to mention the fact I had to fly back to L.A. the next week to pick it up from the shop...but that just meant another trip to Disneyland!!!!

I would get your transmission looked at, I was having the same kind of troubles a few months before mine went out.

I know!!! I was looking into possibly flying down there and then renting a car, but it just doesn't make sense, since it would cost more then just driving down there on my own!

Sorry you're upset. :flower3:

I'll go eat some cheesecake for you, since you're own your diet and all. ;)
