We are thinking about taking Amtrak on a cross country trip. I have looked on the Amtrak website and can't find the answer.

If we book a room/roomette do we still get to use the seats in reserved coach?
or do we have to sit in the room the whole ride?
I know that there are observation cars, dining car we can use.

Thanks

Having taken several (non-autotrain) Amtrak trips to FL, I'm not sure why you would want to go to coach to sit. The seats in your roomette will be more comfortable. If you are looking for social interaction, the lounge car will provide plenty.

Thanks. We were looking to socialize with our friends that will be traveling with us( 7 total).

Dh reminded me earlier that we know someone that works for Amtrak. He came over tonight to answer any questions and to tell us how great train travel is.

We have only traveled by train Chicago to Detroit.
