Amtrak train question

We just decided to drive We had to move our vacation a week later, so we have more time surrounding the trip, driving would save some money and allow us to extend the trip by a day or two if we want. But thanks, everyone, for your comments! It helped our decision!

Have fun on your upcoming trip. I have taken Amtrak three times from Connecticut to Orlando. I always get a roomette. My train was thirty late minutes once. The other on time and 20 minutes an my most recent trip wich included backing into a siding to get around a stalled freight train in V.A. I just booked my train travel for next april. As for coach I have never taken it. That said I have met some very nice people in the dining car and they seem very happy traveling coach. And some disliked it and were able to get a roomette during the trip. I love to travel this way, and make the journey part of the trip. Here are some tips that may help you if you decide to travel by Amtrak. Book early, this saves money. look for promotion codes, specials and discounts. Keep your arrivial day free if your train is delayed and if you are tired to just relax . I take an early train out of NY and I'm usualy at EPCOT by three pm the next day. enjoy your trip.

We took Amtrak down to Disney once. The train made really good time going south and we arrived pretty close to schedule, which was 11:30 a.m. (Not that it made much difference; we did not get into our room at the CR until after 6:00 that night because of the crowds at the hotel, but that's a different story!)

Our trip home was not so great; the train was quite overcrowded and the train was a good 4-5 hours behind schedule. This was during spring break, in March, and the weather conditions in the north seemed okay - no ice, snow, etc. It was not a major issue for us, but we were sure tired when we got home.
