Does anyone know what seats are near outlets in the coach section of the Silver Meteor train? Are they usually taken first? We are traveling on the day before Thanksgiving (the busiest travel day) and I am expecting the train to be packed by the time we board in Baltimore. If I knew where to look I might just have a chance.

Thanks

As for your question about receptacles, we board in Alliance Ohio and head to DC and that train has them at every seat, the train from DC to Kissimmee only had a few per car. It all seems to be what car they place you in as to your destination. The newer cars are electric plug in suitable and the older cars have none or maybe 2. We've used Amtrak exclusively for the past 10 years and take our portable DVD player but in all those trips its pot luck as to whats going to be in your car. Good luck, I just rely on batteries but a tip, we usually up grade to a roomette from DC to Kissimmee, just the two of us, and that little room has a couple of plugs in it just for our use. Its also a nicer way to arrive in Disney, refreshed from a good night sleep im a bed, wife does the upper and me the bottom, we usually get this with our reward points from Amtrak trips.

Thank you so much for the info. I guess we will be relying on battery power as well. We looked into the roomette, but I procrastinated too long. Right now it is an additional $485.00 just one way, probably because it is such a busy travel day.

Thanks for taking time to respond.

Here's another little bit of info, on the sleepers and roomettes: When you book your trip as reserved coach seats, as soon as your are seated and the conductor comes by to take your tickets, ask if any up grades, roomettes, are available. Online prices are hig but on the train, if they are not all sold out, you can get a room for half the money, even less. They go fast so ask early, you can pay the conductor on the spot for the up grade.
