Amtrak - AAA Kids ride free

Hope this can help someone else...

2 children can ride free with one AAA adult on Amtrak through most of the remainder of the year, using code H413, per amtrak.com.

As we purchased our tix in May, to change ours would not be cost effective with the penalties. Hopefully someone else can benefit!

Can anyone get this code to work online? Everytime I enter the code I'm told it requires travel with an eligible companion. I enter two adults and three children; the code allows two children per adult traveling. I don't know why it won't work. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. TIA.

I have had many problems similar to that on Amtrak's website. I don't trust it personally. For instance, on trip it was half as much for DH and myself and three kids than for just DH and myself. Didn't make sense. I often get the invalid code or some other message when I am not using a code. Sorry to not be of any help!

Are you trying to do ut with the Autotrain? I get that message when trying to if it works on it. I don't think its valid on the autotrain. I did get a price of $3xx.xx for my family of five for November. I am soo tempted to book it.

we have gone the last 4 - 6 years by train. we have never gotten the sleeper car cause by the time i booked it was really expensive. i almost booked in jan. for 2 sleepers down and back but i didnt. now i think we are 99 per cent sure we will be going around the end of Aug. so we will prob get just coach seats. the problem my dd 15 says I dont want to sit on the train, im sick of it, ha ha . but i do not like to fly. i was just wondering if any one has paid for sleepers. are they really worth the money........thanks
