Hi all, I'm still new at this, though am truly grateful for all the info everyone shares! I have a question--we'll be staying at SSR for our first trip 'home' in November. There's six of us in our family, DH and me, twin DD's who are 14, DD who is 10 and DS who is 8. How much shampoo and other supplies do they supply you with? Is it enough for all six of us, considering that two of our kids are teenage girls?

Nowhere near enough!

They give you one small (hotel size/travel size) bottle of shampoo, one of conditioner, and one of shower gel...plus soap at each of the sinks (the bathroom is a "double room"...one room has a toilet, sink & shower; the other has a sink and jacuzzi tub...there's soap at each sink, and as I recall a bar of soap in the shower, too...there will also be one one-load-size box of Tide in the laundry area...

Mousekeeping will very likely give you more if you ask...they'll replace the basic amount (shampoo, Tide, conditioner, shower gel and, I think, a pack of coffee, too) on trash & towel day (day 4)...you can also buy more in the resort gift shop...

I usually make one little bottle of shampoo last just for myself...but it's not enough when DS (w/very short hair) comes w/me...so, IMO, definitely not enough for your family of 6...altho if you're in a two-bedroom, you'll have two bathrooms so you may get double the initial allotment...

You do get double the allotment with a two bedroom but that still may not be enough. It usually is enough for our family as my dh and I head to the spa most days and use the facilities there. The spa has all the products available for use while in the spa. Between the gym and spa it is a nice way to start the day.

Do they charge you if you ask for more shampoo, etc. before day 4?

Yes, additional shampoo, conditioner, shower gels packs are $5. There are larger bottles of the same product in the resorts stores, but they are also pricey, but cheaper, in the long run, than the small bottles.

It would be best to pack your own in your luggage, if possible.

And it's nearly impossible to get the shampoo, conditioner and gel out of the bottle. Whoever thought of hard plastic bottles (non-squeezable) for shampoo, etc, must have been a sadist.

Or make a run over to Basin - which at least from SSR can be done fairly easily

ETA: The shampoo bars aren't a bad idea for carryon travel - sometimes I try and just carryon - that's hard to do if you need to pack shampoo.

I guess we'll just plan on bringing our own shampoo, etc. It's a little bit of a bummer, though-- we usually have some extra shampoo, bath soap, etc., to bring home. It's nice when you need a Disney 'fix' to use the Disney soaps and stuff!
