Hi.
Was just reading on one unofficial Disney site that using your AMEX card for the Polynesian Luau (or Hoop De Doo Revue) will get you 10% off your meal. Then I read on the AMEX site that it will get you 20% off your meal! When I made my ressies for the Luau, the CM had no idea what White Glove Treatment was, but did say that there was a 10% discount if I used the AMEX (to be taken off when I pick up my tickets at Guest Services at PO-R). Does anyone know what the real discount is??? Also, I put my ressie deposit on a VISA card. If I pay the remainder with my AMEX, am I entitled to the other discounts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dawn

I booked the Luau with my Amex & got the 10% discount right off the top. He gave me the exact break-down & the total amount that would be charged (that day I guess) You have to cancel 48 hrs in adavnce or it is charged to your card.

When you check into your resort, they will give you a book with all the AMEX discounts available. We also got a % off our Keys to the Kingdom tour and a % off of boat rental at the marina. (I forgot just what the exact % were)

I personally didn't see a big difference in booking my package with AMEX for the "white glove treatment". The only thing extra we got was a fannie pack. I mean, I did save a ton by booking with AMEX travel, but that's another story. Any AMEX card holder can get the discounts as long as you use your card, you don't have to be on the white glove treatment package.

I just ASKED everywhere if a discount was available. Most of the time, it was.

Now yuo get a lanyard and a amex pin instead of the butt pack.

Lisa,
They gave you the discount when you made the PS reservation? The CM I spoke with told me they would do that at my resort once I picked up the tix. I wonder if I should call back..........

Dawn: This is what I was quoted:

$106.65 ($35.55 per person x 3) + 6.40 tax + $16.00 gratuity for a total of $129.05.

Maybe it's because I used my Amex to book it, I don't know, but these are the figures I was given. I guess I'll see when I get down there.

Leaving in 93 days (but who's counting:D )

Lisa,
Thanks for the breakdown. I too booked the reservation with my AMEX card and even discussed the discount with the CM. She gave me the total price without the discount. I guess I'll either call back or wait and see what happens when I pick up my tix.

Thanks again

I made Hoop & Luau reservations the other day. I had to ask if there were any discounts available since the CMs do not offer this info. I asked if discounts were available for AP, DC, DVC, AAA, or AmEx. I was told yes to a couple of them. Since my AmEx card was handy, I used that and got a 10% discount on both of those dinner packages.

When I asked if there was an Amex discount (which I knew there was) the CM said..."yes there is, thanks for asking";)

Hi all,
I called back Disney regarding my ressie for the Luau and the AMEX discount and the CM told me that the original CM I booked with (at WDW-DINE) did not put ANYTHING down about my entitlement to a 10% discount. This new CM stated that this was "probably because I didn't tell her about the discount right at the start of the ressie process." Apparently, their computers "cannot recode" so instead of cancelling my ressie (since that would put me back in terms of my place/seating priority at the Luau that night), the second CM put a note on my reservation stating that I am "entitled to the AMEX discount." We'll see what happens when I pick up my tix.

So far I've called Disney reservations 5 times in order for them to get my resort and dinner ressies right. When I made my ressies for PO-R, the first CM was a "Disney Vacation Specialist." I later realized that I was given the 45-day deadline to cancel and to pay for the ressie in full and I thought--don't those rules apply only if you book online? When I called back, I explained to the new CM that I thought I should have a 5-day cancellation policy. She then told me that I was given a "package" that included free mini golf or admission to some sports place. Of course, I had never asked for this. She then explained that I needed to make my ressie with "Central Reservations." I explained that when I called 407-W-DISNEY and asked for resort reservations ONLY, that I had called the right place. She explained that Disney is leaning towards training all their CMS to do "vacation bookings," and that I would have to spefically ask for Central Reservations if I didn't want my reservation "done that way." WHAT?????

In the end, the CM cancelled my old ressie (which, by the way, required a larger deposit and had a HIGHER resort rate because it was done through the "Vacation Specialist") and created a new ressie through "Central Reservations." The required deposit was one night's stay (less than $200) and my total rate for 7 nights was $10 less than the original price I was given. A week later I received TWO confirmations for TWO reservations. I had to call Disney again to make sure that the original ressie was, in fact, cancelled (and it was).

SO.....use extreme caution when you make reservations! Unless you are doing a package with airfare and park passes and extra perks, make sure you ask for CENTRAL reservations, or you may end up with something different than what you expected.

DeeCeeSW, I agree with you about how hard it is to book the simplest things sometimes. But you are doing it correctly -- you are double- & triple-checking everything. Good for you. If you do that, and take meticulous notes, your vacation should go off without a hitch (and if it doesn't, you have all those cancelled confirmation numbers to prove it with).

Don't worry about the Hoop or Luau reservations. When you eventually pay for those dinner meals, make sure you pay with your AmEx card and request the discount right then and there (in case the CM overlooks what is stated in the reservation system). The CM should be able to take care of it for you (they have done so for me in the past).

Just back from CBR. According to CM at check-in, they are out of all pins and lanyards for AMEX White Glove Treatment and would have them sent to room when they became available. Must have not gotten them as I didn't get them before check out.

Also, AMEX is giving a 15% discount at Team Mickey and World of Disney at DD if you purchase over $50. According to CMs there, discounts change frequently with AMEX so be sure to ask.
