Does anyone know whether we (DVC members) are still eligible for the AmEx White Glove Service when we check in to our rooms? It will be my first time, so I am assuming that we must provide a credit card imprint even though we have booked our room using points. IF we use an AmEx card for that imprint, are we eligible for the White Glove?

TIA, Jeff

If you use your AmEx card when you check-in you can get the discounts for food and merchandise as outlined in the AmEx booklet, but be aware that sometimes you may get some resistance from CM's. I experienced this first hand when I tried to get the 15% discount at the World of Disney at DD. I was told by one of the Managers that I had to pay for one nights stay with AmEx to be eligable for this discount. I inquired about this and was told by one of the Directors of Customer Service, in a recent call, that the Manager was not correct and that she was refering this to the VP of Merchandising to correct this problem. So if you run into this tell the CM that you do get the discount, when you buy $50 or more in merchandise, because you did use the AmEx card at check-in. You however do not get the other gifts at check-in under the White Glove program as people who pay for their rooms using AmEx. I know some DVC members have been given these gifts at check-in, but they told me that in order to get these gifts that you must pay for some of your stay using AmEx, boy sometimes I get sick of hearing this line.
Good luck and enjoy your stay.

We were at OKW last week and I tried to get that WGT!! The CM that checked us in specified that unless we were using our AmEx to pay for 2+ more nights, we were not eligible. Bummer!! Then when I made my BIG purchase at World of Disney I tried to get that discount using my AmEx. They asked to see my resort ID and because I was not paying cash for the room I wasn't eligible for my 15% discount. Another bummer!! I guess everybody will get a different response.

Shelbyjosh, If you use your AmEx card at check-in you still get the 15% discount at the World of Disney. E-Mail WDW on the Disney Web page and send it to attention of Merchandising, specifically to the Director of Merch. and tell her that you are another DVC member that is being told that you don't get the discount. The more complaints they get maybe they will get the message to the CM's at DD. The Dir. of Merch. at WDW called me two weeks ago and told me she was reporting this to the VP of DD and it seems that she may not have followed thru. I will let her know about this if she calls me back.

I couldn't pay the cash portion of my cruise with AMEX (Strange huh, since that's the official card of WDW). But is there a way I can get the White Glove benefits for the cruise as a DVC member. I booked partially with points paid cash for the kids.

I was at Character Shop at DD last week and had same problem of CM telling me I wasn't eligible for the 15% discount because I was using points, rather than paying cash, for my room at OKW. Having read here on the boards that we are eligible for the discount (thanks to all of you who made this clear!), I politely insisted that I should get the discount. She checked with another CM who agreed with me, so I got the discount. It pays to try!!

The second time we shopped there last week, the CM gave me the discount without question.

I used points in February to stay at BWV and was still able to use the discount at DD (I also got a little guidebook and fanny pack at the front desk).

As far as the cruise goes, it appears that you have to pay with your AMEX to get the benefits. I asked at Treasure Ketch (one of the gift shops) on the Magic and I was not on the "list" of people who had paid with their AMEX; therefore, I was not eligible for the discounts/benefits.
