On that note, this first question is dedicated to @ronandannette.

Is ketchup an acceptable condiment for a hotdog? My vote is a resounding YES!

Now, back to sleep to perhaps dream up a more substantial query.

Only if you're under 12. After that a hot dog should have onions, relish, celery salt, sport peppers, mustard and tomatoes. Also acceptable would be chili and cheese.

YES! In fact, it's practically the ONLY acceptable condiment for a hotdog. I had a food truck hotdog for lunch yesterday; succulent in a soft, poppy-seed bun and perfectly complimented by ketchup and a tiny bit of sweet green relish. It came with gourmet parmesan truffle fries which, after eating a mere 5 of them, kicked my acid reflux into over-drive and I barely slept. Oh well, worth it...

I do stand corrected. I honestly had forgotten that it wasn't just called Kraft Dinner down here. We don't actually buy the stuff, but I do smile every time I go home and see boxes with just "KD" stamped on them.

Hot dog needs mustard, sweet relish and ketchup, onions if I have any on hand. But have known to eat just a plain hot dog at home, same as a hamburger once in awhile.

I brought home a few boxes last time I went to the States, so about 10 years ago. From what I remember, it tasted a lot better. KD changed their cheese flavour and it’s not very good anymore.

Since @prairie_girl's question has now morphed into "What's your favourite way to eat a hotdog?" I just want to put in my vote for a whistle dog...bacon and cheddar on a grilled bun. Nothing better.

To answer my own question, YES.

When I have hotdogs, I add ketchup and a cheese slice. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll spread cheez whiz on the bun instead of a cheese slice.

I brought back Canadian KD for an American colleague. For science, she is comparing against American Kraft mac and cheese. I also brought a PC brand box.

I’ll report back when I have her findings.

I will pick up a box of KD the next time I am back and do a side-by-side comparison. I have rarely eaten it since leaving young adulthood.

If I only have one condiment choice for a hot dog it is mustard, not a big ketchup fan especially by itself.

And it should never be used on KD.

Only time I had ketchup on KD is if we have left overs and it’s dry and needs help…lol . Even than hate leftovers.

The best PC brand of Mac and cheese is their white cheddar one. Soooooo good.
